She had a welcoming presence and spirit about her and I normally am a clockwatcher but I felt this class had a great pace and before I knew it, we had finished the class with savasana, om and namaste. I have done yoga a bunch of times over the years and really felt that Julie had a great connection with her class. I live two hours away so I won't be a regular but when I am back visiting my mom, I'll happily come back to Westfield Yoga Center. The drop in rate is only $12.00 which is a great value. They also offer a lot of other yoga classes. A husband and wife own this practice and it is warm and inviting. Best of all, there is ample free parking and the facility was very clean. A major bonus!

I decided to delete it and rewrite one now that the studio has reopened its doors post-pandemic. Shiva Shakti instructs in the Baptiste style of yoga. It isn't my favorite type, but I've still really enjoyed taking classes here! Lots of chatarungas, lots of flowing, toss in some core work and tons of sweat. That's what you'll find at Shiva Shakti. You will work your BUTT OFF! *cash (or check) only. If you forget, there are at least 3 ATMs within a 3 min walk. *fill your water bottle up at home! There's nowhere to refill your bottle at the studio. *no showers, but there are changing rooms! *class times are limited due of the size of the town, but they still offer enough to fit anyone's schedule. There are 3x classes/day during the week, 1x Saturday, and 1x on Sunday (2x in fall thru spring). *my favorite teacher is Matt, for no major reason that I can pinpoint. He has a really welcoming vibe, and he can coax hard work out of you without being overwhelming. He also pays close attention to students on their mats and is great at remembering everyone's name. *Brandon is a fun and intense teacher- he has this super thick Boston accent and is always engaging the students during class to keep us on our toes and present in the room. And he will absolutely crank the heat up on you with no regrets! Haha *Naima leads a really delightful class. There's something about her voice that feeds you strength in a posture while simultaneously being really soothing. She's also really good at remembering students names which I so so appreciate. Some big positives at this studio: -The heat and humidity is DOPE AF. It gets steamy in the studio, and I love it! -The teachers know when to send in the cool air and it is always much appreciated. -The floor has mat markers that are color coded according to where the warmest/coolest places are in the room, so it's easy to ensure that you'll get the exact level of warmth you want. -They have a student discount! It's not huge, but it brings the drop-in class rate to $15 and monthly unlimited to $120/mo. Overall: I highly recommend this studio. I'm glad it's here in NoHo. And I'm so thankful that Naima and Brandon keep this place running and offer such delicious heat/humidity and fun classes for all of us.

As a lover of Bikram yoga (the 26 poses, the extreme heat, and the intensity), I was originally skeptical that I would like a more flowy, vibey style of yoga in a less heated environment. But, I went anyway, and I was nothing but thrilled to find a community of strong, encouraging [mostly] women. I have found my time at SWEAT to be energizing and rejuvenating. I lean on my practice to center and calm me. During COVID-19, it has been stressful not feeling fully in control of my routine. While we're all stuck at home, exercise seems pretty difficult--especially if going to a heated studio is your jam! Though SWEAT was initially closed at the outset of the pandemic (as they should be!), they found ways for us to practice safely remotely/digitally through online streaming classes. Then, they transitioned to outdoor practice in a park. Finally, the added in-studio pod/group programming with social distancing (and mask use and specific procedures in the lobby). I have been impressed with how the SWEAT team has adjusted to pandemic life. And I've always been impressed with their use of technology (they have the MindBody app, so you can buy class packs and schedule classes online or from the MindBody mobile app). I recently tried the Roll and Flow program (with Krystal) and the Weighted Flow program (with Susan)--both were excellent. Roll and Flow is all about using tiny balls to roll stress points in your body (there are scientific words involved... I don't know them... something about myofascial release...). It was quite relaxing and helpful! I definitely felt the release of muscle tension. Weighted Flow is all about using ~1 pound weighted balls throughout the yoga flow--you'd be surprised at how much two seemingly lightweight balls can buff you up in a couple weeks! It was a true workout in the best of ways. Next, I can't finish this review without mentioning the holiday sessions. Thanksgiving session was, by far, one of the best parts of my year last year. If I recall, it was a 90-minute session (right?! I love those... if it wasn't, it just felt like it!)--it featured Susan's epic rock playlist, Bon Jovi and all. And it had this togetherness feeling, all about being a part of a community, and getting somewhere with a shared sense of power. It energized me for the months to come, and I look back at that moment--and the empowerment that I felt that day--as encouragement sometimes. I was SO looking forward to this year's Thanksgiving session, but COVID is taking it away for now. Nevertheless, when we're back to normal, I can't wait for more of these special holiday programs. There aren't many other things I'd rather be doing than replenishing my soul with the inspiring words of the SWEAT instructors. On that note, it's apropos to mention that all of the instructors are fabulous, and they each have their own style. Krystal is uplifting with the meditations she brings to the practice--she makes you feel thoughtful in what you're doing. Susan is like a badass mom who makes you feel like a rockstar. Nicole is quirky and always brings light and joy to the room--she is great at pointing out the physicality of the work... what muscles, what sensations. Ben is helpful and all about betterment--he's a champ at suggesting adjustments and ways to deepen a pose. I couldn't recommend the SWEAT studio enough. Great crew, great vibe, great space!

Beyond that, she gently helped me get back on track with supportive health habits that feel sustainable -- not overwhelming -- and that continue to move me toward feeling the way I want to feel in my body. Words can not begin to express my gratitude to Hannah. A medical condition left me unable to…read moreparticipate in regular yoga classes and I was extremely depressed and frustrated. I tried exploring at home gentle yoga videos but was fearful of pushing myself past my limitations which could result in an ER visit. I did my yoga session at Spirit Space Yoga as I felt I would have trouble relaxing in my own home. Hannah had all the supplies ready for me and the room was clean, quiet, and zen. I immediately felt at home at Spirit Space Yoga and was very comfortable opening up to Hannah. Hannah is wonderful and has a calm, nurturing, knowledgeable presence. She calmly and patiently listened to my limitations, goals, hopes, dreams, and fears. She led me through a wonderful private session that made me feel alive and hopeful again. Hannah was able to design a session that worked on my goals of strength, flexibility, and relaxation in a full body workout without over-exerting my arm where I have a PICC line placed. I felt respected and safe throughout my whole session. I have to admit when the actual yoga started I felt a bit odd being the only student but Hannah reassured me that the feeling would quickly pass, and it did. I look forward to continuing my yoga journey and healing with Hannah. She is a holistic practitioner and leaves you feeling good in mind, body, and spirit.
