We had custom invitations, including menus, directions, and maps to the event and a custom seating chart with representative maps for each table for out guests. For example, tape measures have not been available for $1.25 recently but now they have a $5 tape measure they sell! I refuse to buy most of those items from them unless I am in a pinch and determine it's of value! I saw this place and felt, this was it. I ran inside to ask if they took donations and they said yes and to drive along the side of the building. I pulled up my SUV and asked if I could be alone while I did this and the sweet lady hugged me and said yes. I didn't hesitate and felt at ease with this thrift shop and prayed that all her beautiful clothes and shoes would bless the right people and that they too would look lovely in them. She then told us to look on both sides of the long shelves and pick a ceramic piece that we wanted to paint. They had a nice variety of pottery to choose from. We each took our time selecting our pieces. They were pricier than we expected. I paid a little over $100 for two small pieces (a turtle & a sun). My sister paid about $27 for a small leaf dish to put small trinkets on. After we all had our pieces, the young woman came out from behind the counter, showed us were the brushes were, how to pick the colors we want to use, and told us that the colors will ultimately look like the colors on the wall. She then said to make sure we give it four coats of paint, then she let us begin. We had a lot of fun painting and talking amongst our group. We even were able to walk across the street to see the Artemis II blast off before going back in to finish painting. One improvement that we would like to see would be more interaction/assistance between the staff and the customers. We would have liked to be given more guidance as to how to paint some of the more intricate areas of the pottery pieces. I, for one, wasn't sure which brush was the best to use on certain areas which caused some frustration. I do hope to return sometime to see if these areas are addressed.
