I searched piano movers in the Westchester, New York area, read several reviews and then made a few inquiries over the phone. After getting a few price quotes, my intuition told me to go with Sherzod at "Magic Piano Movers." He was very nice to talk with and took the time to explain step by step how they would pack up my baby grand piano before they moved it to its destination in Monroe, NY. The price was $650 which included gas, tolls, packing it up securely/safely, and setting it up at the new location. He also asked if any steps or stairs were at either location since they charged an extra fee for any steps over 3. Sher was very honest and upfront which I appreciated. My cousins met the movers at my house at 9:00 am on Saturday. They told me that they were on time, early even, and did an excellent job getting the baby grand out of the house. They broke it down, wrapped it up to protect it and got it on the truck very quickly. It was comforting to know that my piano was in good hands while 3,000 miles away. I asked them to add the value of the piano to the contract and they refused. At one point they didn't want me to call so we had to go back and forth over text. Who does business that way??? To have the piano covered for its full value they asked me to pay $150 extra for insurance. How can a piano moving company not have their own liability insurance that covers the total cost of a piano??? Eventually I got tired of texting and went with someone else. Bottom line, train the people answering the phone so they understand the business, can make decisions and don't have to go back and forth to "the boss" and make the customers wait all day over text to get basic agreements settled. Very unprofessional.

In terms of the quality of his work, I can speak to his attention to detail going through every key while being open to initial findings from the customer (me). He was not hesitant to provide some perspective when I asked for his opinion. He also recommended to voice it down a little for free, which I had not done before. He did it in just under two hours. He didn't rush, but worked with a purpose. He also has an informative and clean website which customers can appreciate to get a quick rundown of what to expect. He was also cool with pets. Ivan and Michael also greeted me on the other end, utilizing the same qualities to deliver my items as well as arrange them. When I wasn't sure where to put something, they were great at recommending places. And when I wanted to change an item's location, they were amenable to that as well. They were so kind and good-humored, and made heavy lifting look easy. I was very happy that none of my many fragile items arrived broken or damaged. Kudos also to Drago, the rep who answered my initial call, listened carefully to my needs and said he'd assign me the best crew. He also was the only rep, of the many I spoke with, who wrote down my inventory exactly as I described it. And he quoted me a price that was a fraction of competitors' prices. I had my purse with $980 in the zippered compartment in one of our bathrooms where we were storing the stuff we didn't want moved. The movers were told this on multiple instances. The movers had zero reason to be in that room and did not ask permission to enter it. Had they done so we would have asked them to use the other bathroom. I know the movers were in there because the toilet seat was up and there was urine in the toilet when I went in. I am female and my fiancé is completely blind and has to sit to pee and doesn't put up the seat. When I went to tip the movers, the cash was gone from my purse. No one besides myself, my fiancé and the movers were inside the apartment since I'd taken out the cash the previous evening. I informed the company immediately. They did nothing about it, claiming they questioned the crew who denied it. As if they'd confess to stealing about a grande. Please learn from my mistake and either avoid this company. Or at least keep your cash on your person and lock any doors the crew should not be entering. Personally this is the last time I will be using them as trust should be a priority particularly with a company you are handing your belonging. In case it helps, the head of the crew was named Alik (that spelling may be incorrect) and the license plate number on the truck was 79759NG.
