I ve learned to deal with some unprofessional s front desk in the past (young or inexperienced)but this time it really went on a different level. I ve called to make an appointment for a new therapist few weeks ago where I precisely ask if the one that I would have tried had some experience. I ve been told over the phone by this guy named ALDO , he is usually seats at the first corner of the desk, that absolutely yes, she was coming from another place and she had experience. (I did not ask him to disclose any infos about this person, only if she had experience as therapist ) and he reassured me that yes she did. Come to the appointment and the therapist just told me that this was her first job, fresh out of school. Now: It's not only the lie I ve been told but also the time I wasted,since I specifically made sure of that in my request. Otherwise I would have picked another therapist to begin with. I confronted ALDO and he denied. From then on, he keeps doesn't acknowledge me when I get there, he doesn't call the therapist when I get there, which is so unprofessional in many ways. Today I had my appointment at noon and he called the therapist at 12.15 to let her know I was there. That was confirmed by my therapist who said he never let her know that I was there at noon and she was waiting for me since I was her first appointment of the day. I recorded the conversation and time I got there (noon) and he said he told her (not true) After 15 minutes,while I was still there waiting,my therapist got his call for the first time. Its all documented so in case he wants to deny it again.(for personal purpose and protect myself) In a place where we should find peace we can't deal with this type of behavior. I believe that who responds to the reviews is the front desk itself so the reply doesn't really matter..only helps making people aware of the situation and person they might encounter at the front. I m trying to get in contact with Vaia (the owner) personally and the manager Sharon to see if this behavior can stop because it's ridiculous now, since I do go in once a week and love my therapist and I need to escalate this to them.

The therapists all seem to be nice. I never heard a patient complain about them. The train is within four blocks away so that is a plus. Some of the blocks on the way there are a little sketchy. Some of the rooms have windows in them which makes for a great session. There's also some rooms that are dark and dim, don't like those personally. Its an all ages therapy center.

In their public response to my review, the practice claimed that I berated staff, yelled at staff, and "used the f word several times at different office assistants." That allegation is completely false. I take accusations like that very seriously because they are attacks on a person's character. I have never spoken to their staff in the manner they described. If they have evidence supporting those claims, they should provide it. To date, none has been provided. What is particularly disappointing is that these statements came from a therapy practice. I would expect a counseling office to handle disagreements professionally and focus on facts rather than making public accusations about a former patient. Even after all of this, I am still seeking clear answers regarding the underlying billing and insurance issues. Instead of addressing those concerns, the practice chose to respond with allegations about my conduct that I know to be untrue. At this point, my concern is no longer limited to the billing dispute itself. It is the decision to publicly portray me as someone who verbally abuses office staff when that simply did not happen. Prospective patients can draw their own conclusions, but I believe people should know how this practice responds when a customer raises concerns. My experience has been disappointing, and I cannot recommend a business that responds to criticism by making accusations that it cannot substantiate.

My husband suggested, flippantly at first, that we "go to therapy" -- but two days later he came home from work with this phone number and a glowing recommendation from his dear friend. Neither of us is the "type" to seek out help, but I am relieved beyond words that, in that moment, we both knew that this was something we owed to ourselves, each other, and our two children. We saw our wonderful counselor a couple of times individually, and then over a period of several months as a couple, and we could not be more pleased with the level of insight, professionalism, and compassion that we experienced. I would urge anyone who is, perhaps, a little skeptical about the concept of couples' therapy (especially if things are not *that* bad) to maybe open up to the possibility and perhaps reach out to these guys. I tried explaining my symptoms, but the doctor seemed distracted and uninterested, barely making eye contact. The explanations I received felt vague and unhelpful, and I never got the sense that there was any real effort to understand what I was going through. For something as serious and personal as neurological concerns, that lack of attention was extremely discouraging. Overall, I didn't feel respected, supported, or cared for at all. I had an awful experience with Neuropsychological Services of Astoria today. After waiting for…read moremonths for an appointment for my child (during which I had to call to check in about when my appointment would happen or no one would follow up with me), we finally got an appointment for 9 am. We were early and while we sat in the waiting area of the shared office space, both Dr. Hernandez and his assistant walked right past us with out greeting us or telling us what was going on. I didn't even know it was them. It was only after I inquired with another receptionist there who it turned out worked for the dental office there that I got any attention and they asked us to go back. At that point they told us that the person who was supposed to do the evaluation still wasn't there and they couldn't get in touch with him. After months of waiting, it was only yesterday that I learned that it would be a student administering the evaluation, which is not standard at most neuropsych evaluation places unless you're doing sliding scale - and even then, students must ethically be CLOSELY supervised in that process. Dr. H said he could start the evaluation today but he couldn't finish it because he's unfamiliar with parts of the test we were looking to have administered!!! I'm currently getting a doctorate in psychology at an APA accredited school and I've learned how to give a few of these evaluations so far (unfortunately not the ones I am seeking yet) and you cannot even ethically supervise a student to make sure they're administering correctly if you're not familiar with the test being administered! And just yesterday Dr. H told me that the student wouldn't write the interpretive report - that *he* would. Then today he said someone else on his staff would do it. I'm so thankful the student didn't show up because - of course you CAN write a report on a test you're unfamiliar with but will that person give an accurate and fair interpretation of what is happening? After sending an email to the practice stating the above, Dr. H responded that there's things I don't understand yet about the neuropsychological evaluation process and I expect that he'll respond to this review saying the same thing, but I have validated with a couple of faculty members, that for the psychologist who is supervising test administration and who will write a report to not be familiar with aspects of the test to not be familiar with the test does not say good things about a practice. Not only that, you won't get a truly nuanced or insightful report of what the test results are actually saying. For other parents who are trying to navigate issues with their kids, you should be aware that there are other places that take insurance and for the ones that don't, if you have good health insurance, many will pay for out-of-network evaluators at a rate of around 50-70%.
