He made a corny joke and the whole room got quiet so he decided to make a jab about my legs (using someone's tree trunk as a boat ore). Anyways, the plan was to take off 2 inches ended up being more like 4 I asked for front shorter pieces and got full on curtain bangs. Not to mention I showed a pic of a platinum blonde with her base color peeking through and I ended up with a greyish dirty blonde. Also, the person who got a hair cut before me caused Alex to keep dropping the f bomb and complaining about them wanting their hair shorter and shorter but ended up getting part of it shaved bald. Like ok.. what do you say about me when I leave I already heard what you said while I was sitting there. Anyone can have an off day but that's not the first time I've heard him badmouthing clients but this was the worst yet not to mention not delivering after he said he could my hair to look like the pic in that appointment. Tara took my call on a Saturday and was able to set up an appointment for the upcoming Friday, which was awesome since I desperately needed a cut, and we were hoping for a Thursday or Friday evening appointment. She was super sweet and fit both of us in with Nicole. Parking Plenty of parking - it's in a strip mall on 49th, not far from Park Blvd. Snacks! They offer you Nutri-Grain bars and beverages as soon as you arrive. Sweet! Vibe All the girls have such a cool vibe and are so friendly. It's like they truly love what they do which is important because it makes everyone who visits feel welcome, positive, and happy to be there. It's like you want to be their friend. You want to stick around all day and gab. Wash & Style With Tara Tara did a fantastic job of washing my hair with a specific shampoo she knew would bring out my highlights. She was super sweet and easy to chat with - if you enjoy the salon experience, you know this is a thing, an important thing. Tara also styled my hair after Nicole worked her magic. Now, this may sound strange, but she styled it in a way that looked "like you just stepped out of a salon," yet aren't overly styled where you're legit depressed knowing, "No way will it ever look like this again." It was a super cute, attainable style. Haircut by Nicole Nicole, wow! Freakin' love her. So cool and down to earth. My friend said she was cool and wasn't kidding. Super sweet and so easy to chat with - again you don't want to leave! The girls make you feel so at home. 20 years ago, a stylist in downtown NYC blade-cut my hair and it never looked that good again. I've asked for it before and I guess it's either a dated or awkward way to cut hair. Nicole understood and gave me that messy texture I've been looking for. I'm a mess and like my hair to match that mess. LOL. She nailed it. Point being, she listened and gave me what I wanted! Not Just a Haircut! This was a fantastic experience. I've been quarantining since March. It's like I don't even know my way around town anymore. Gonna get real with you for a second here, so bear with me. I've been so isolated, lonely, and depressed these last few months. I left that salon so elated. It sounds nuts, I know. But it's crazy how a haircut can lift your spirits and almost empower you. When we got there, they kept the bride waiting around for 20 minutes before finally informing us that they "didn't feel comfortable" doing a ponytail because they didn't have enough girls trained in that style. Seriously, a hair and beauty business with 6-8 creative professionals on staff at the time, and no one could do a simple ponytail? On the day of her rehearsal dinner! The bride ended up crying in the chair, and I started crying too, and no one working there cared or showed the slightest bit of empathy. When I expressed my disappointment on the way out, the girl at checkout (don't know her name, but she had pink hair) dismissively told me that ponytails are considered an "updo," and they didn't have enough girls trained in a ponytail to do my sister's. When I pointed out that ponytails are listed under the blowout section on their own website, she just looked away and didn't respond. No acknowledgment, no apology--just silent, rude indifference. The ponytail didn't include any pinning of hair, which is what they define as an "updo". They ruined what should have been a joyful, memorable part of my sister's wedding weekend. The place had a very strange vibe, was completely unprofessional, and I just can't understand how the people working are so bad at interacting with humans. I would never recommend Sip and Dry to anyone--especially not for anything remotely special.
