Most breakfast is usually continental and carb laden but not here. Eggs and bacon and sausage along with potatoes were offered. And on the second day a full mexican breakfast was on the buffet. Along with these items were waffles, french toast, bagels, cereal and yes of course 3 kinds of hot coffee! We loved everything about breakfast here! Overall staying here is a must when in Mercedes, Tx!

First, the guy ignored me when I walked in because he was too busy on a personal phone call sitting on the side of the entryway on a chair. He didn't acknowledge me. I didn't know that he worked there until he finally got up and walked behind the desk. Then when I tried to check in, he asked me if my dogs shed. I said well one is shorthaired and one is long-haired. He said we'll do they shed. Their dogs of course they shed. So he went on to say that the last time they had an issue with somebody where they had to pay $300 to have the room cleaned because there was dog hair. So he wanted me to agree to an open ended uncapped Cleaning fee separate from the damage deposit. I told him no that's not what I agreed to. As far as the deposit, at first it was $100 deposit which I could tell from his attitude that he was going to use for a cleaning fee. Then he said well they could come in and check my room every day to make sure it was clean. What!? Then he said the room had to be as clean as when I arrived, which is nuts all hotels clean up after you leave. And there was an additional Pet fee so that's usually what that is for. I went out to try to talk to Expedia and the hotel people would not pick up the phone to talk to Expedia and the man would not tell me his name. Then when I went back in to try to talk to them again, it was a $200 deposit they were going to require. You know when you get that feeling that tells you to run and run fast and the other direction? My Spidey senses were going crazy. It took me 2 1/2 hours arm wrestling with Expedia to get a refund and I went and checked into the La Quinta in Mercedes. This just smacked of bait and switch. It's too bad because whatever I saw of the property, which was not much, looked OK. The written price is right, but not if they're going to change the deal after you've made the reservation. I would avoid these folks like the plague, especially if you have a pet of any kind.

I was the only one in there besides housekeeping that I know of. Talked to the front desk and they asked the housekeeper, but of course they denied it and nothing could be done. I requested not to have housekeeping enter the room. No other items went missing after that. The person who stole the items is still working there, so beware of housekeeping. I would strongly suggest you request not to have housekeeping enter your room. Otherwise was a good place to stay.
