Front staff was rude, ill dressed, failed to have booked rooms available at time of check-in that were clean. I was there for a wedding, had asked for early check-in. While I know that cannot be guaranteed, the front desk staff made accommodations for other guests before me. When I was given a room well past the public check-in time, it was not clean. The duvet clearly had sheets or towels or something bunched up under it. I was now late for the wedding so I had to leave and asked them to make sure I had a clean room by the time I returned. the front desk supervisor argued with me when I came back in the evening and said that the room was clean. It was not. She was unapologetic for any of this experience. Appropriate staffing and housekeeping quality standards are severely lacking. This is a management issue. I have asked for the manager to call me, but she has not done so. This hotel manager is not doing her job. This was a waste of my points. I am completely dissatisfied with the experience and this is a stain on Marriott's reputation. I will, because of this, book my next reservations with Hilton properties. There are other hotels in the area. I will strongly encourage others to use one of those alternatives.

Since we are Hilton loyal, as usual, we looked online for a place to stay and booked online. After driving through the historic downtown area of Monroe and stopping a few places, we went to the hotel. It is located approximately two miles from the historic downtown area in a newer business district with many food and shopping options. We utilized one of the luggage carts to carry our stuff from the car to the room. We also stopped at the front desk to grab a key card instead of using the digital key this time. To get to our room, the woman at the front desk told us to use the elevator on the opposite side of the main lobby and social area and not the one by the front desk. Our best guess is this property has been recently remodeled/refreshed. It has modern decor features and appears well taken care of. When we walked into our room on the third floor we both noticed a musty smell but otherwise it appeared clean. It also appears to have also been recently remodeled/refreshed. We were surprised by the size of this room compared to other Hampton Inns, our "king studio sofa bed" room type was huge and well equipped. Although it does not matter, it appears this may have been another hotel brand that has been rebranded as a Hilton Hampton Inn. Overall, a great stay. Clean, quiet and comfortable.

It is located in an area with good restaurants and shopping and only a couple of miles from or destination making this property great to come back to after a tired day. Check in is simple especially when you use the app to select your room and request a digital key. As much as a Marriott guy I am, Hilton's app soundly beats the Marriott equivalent especially with the ability to select your room. Hotel is also generous with upgrades when available. Rooms are spacious and super clean. Many "mid range" brands have limited or eliminated daily housekeeping. Not here. We enjoy returning to a clean, made up room. Free parking is in a covered parking ramp adjacent to the hotel. Lobby bar is excellent for our nightcaps before bed. Property has an excellent staff especially James who we've seen during our many visits. Prior to this property being built, we either stayed in the Southpark area (great restaurants/shopping but 35-45 minutes away from our destination) or at a closer but not as nice hotel. We will continue to stay here when visiting this part of Charlotte.
