    I'm a Hilton Honors Member and I booked 4 nights at Hampton Inn Matthews Charlotte on Chase Travel Rewards, who apparently uses Expedia, for a Mobility Access Room with a roll-in shower. My confirmation lists that room specifically. I arrived Saturday at 7pm after a 10 hour drive, tired, checked in, went to my room and found the bathroom had a tub with very low grab bars. I immediately called Derrick at the front desk and was told this was all they had until Monday. I explained that I needed a walk-in shower and asked if they could call other hotels and see if an appropriate bathroom can be found. My reservation at Hampton/Expedia was non-refundable and I had accepted that non-refundable status as it was the room I needed. I thought perhaps if the desk found the right room at another Hilton brand property, my money already paid could be used for the correct room. When I asked for this courtesy, I was told a flat "no". I tried to explain that this was an ADA issue and then asked if Derrick, if he knew what the ADA was. The line dropped immediately. I wondered if Derrick had just hung up on me or had the call just been dropped. So I called Derrick back and he didn't answer. I let it ring more than 13 minutes without an answer so I headed downstairs to the front desk. He acknowledged that he had in fact hung up on me as he maintained I was "rude". I guess asking him if he knew what the ADA was "rude". When I asked a second time about help calling around to see if my reservation could be moved to another property, Derrick said "No, you have a phone!". When I asked if I could get a refund he told me "no". I pulled a chair around in the breakfast area and proceeded to call Chase Travel Rewards to see if they could help get a refund. The Supervisor verified that I had indeed booked a Mobility Room with a tool-in shower. I spent 1 hour and 2O minutes with Chase on the phone while they tried to call the hotel desk and Expedia. Apparently, the Chase Supervisor heard the way Derrick spoke to me, on their recorded line. About halfway through the call, the Chase Supervisor said it appeared that Derrick had gone into the system and modified my reservation on Expedia to show a tub while we were on the phone. I asked Derrick to get the hotel manager but he refused saying the manager wouldn't be in until Monday. I asked him to call the manager more than once. Eventually, when I asked again, Derrick said he had spoken to the manager. I asked what the manager said. Derrick said "I'm not going to tell you." I was crying by this time but eventually I stood up and went to the desk, in an attempt to make some progress and Derrick shook his finger in my face, 6 inches away from my nose, multiple times. I was stunned again as he shooed me away. Before or after the finger shaking, Derrick did say the manager offered to comp me that night and then refund me the remainder if I was able to get another hotel in the morning. Since I was on hold at the time while the Chase Supervisor continued to try to get Derrick to answer the hotel phone, she didn't hear this commitment. Consequently she suggested I keep the line open and ask him to verify this offer. He did repeat it on a recorded line. I managed to find another ADA room with a roll-in shower in the morning and informed a young woman at the desk what was going on and that I was leaving and had been promised a refund for all four nights. Now a week later, the Chase Supervisor and others from Chase have not been allowed to speak to the hotel manager even though they have called daily. I have not gotten a call back from the hotel manager either. Expedia has also declined to issue a refund saying their system shows a room with a tub was reserved. Completely untrue as my reservation email will attest. Also to add insult to injury, I have now received an invoice from Hilton showing that the hotel billed my credit card for parking. I called the number on the invoice and a case number has been assigned with a 48-72 hour time frame to get a return call from Hilton. 72 hours have now passed without a return call from Hilton. Today, I read many other bad reviews about this particular hotel, that its lobby stinks, which it does, and various disparaging comments the staff. So right now, I'm out hundreds of dollars and no resolution in sight.

    The worst breakfast in hoteldom unless your breakfast bag is carbs and sugar. Elevators don't work. No maid service. AND, worst of all, Hilton's reservation service has become infuriating.

    I needed a last minute stay in Charlotte, and this Hampton Inn was right around the corner. I got a better deal at the front desk than I would have online. Excellent customer service and friendly employees. Very clean. There was coffee in the room and downstairs at the free breakfast. The food spread was grab and go, but there were guests eating in the dining room spaced out at tables. Only reason I gave it four stars was because the paint was peeling in the bathroom and in the bedroom, but aside from that it was a wonderful stay! Just leaving after a late check out and feeling well rested and ready to go! I'd recommend it!

    This is one of the worst Hamptons do not stay here. It is not clean, mold in the shower, the shower floor was soft because its soaked water pours out of the shower from underneath and soaks the bathroom floor and room floor for a tripping hazard, the hotel is tired. But the cherry on top is BUGS BUGS BUGS. In our bed and everywhere in the room. Not good, Hilton properties are going downhill.

    This Hampton Inn is a perfectly fine place to stay. The beds are comfortable and clean (they are really adamant that they wash the duvet as well as the sheets), the shower adequate and the wi-fi free and not painfully slow. All of this at an extremely reasonable rate, AND they throw in a free breakfast. That's a good deal. My only serious issue, one for which I almost deducted a star, is that they are sexist. Maybe not the staff (who were all extremely courteous), but the toilets are clearly biased against men. It was literally impossible to leave the seat up, which I discovered when it slammed down and nearly made me a woman myself. As someone who likes to multitask and brush my teeth as I go #1, this inconvenience cost me at least 30 seconds every morning I stayed here. And quite frankly, it's unacceptable.

    That's a smashed massive roach. I found on the wall looking at me. Disgusting damn right I killed it.

It is located in an area with good restaurants and shopping and only a couple of miles from or destination making this property great to come back to after a tired day. Check in is simple especially when you use the app to select your room and request a digital key. As much as a Marriott guy I am, Hilton's app soundly beats the Marriott equivalent especially with the ability to select your room. Hotel is also generous with upgrades when available. Rooms are spacious and super clean. Many "mid range" brands have limited or eliminated daily housekeeping. Not here. We enjoy returning to a clean, made up room. Free parking is in a covered parking ramp adjacent to the hotel. Lobby bar is excellent for our nightcaps before bed. Property has an excellent staff especially James who we've seen during our many visits. Prior to this property being built, we either stayed in the Southpark area (great restaurants/shopping but 35-45 minutes away from our destination) or at a closer but not as nice hotel. We will continue to stay here when visiting this part of Charlotte.

I don't want them around and I surely don't want to hear them. This is unsanitary, in my opinion. I wasn't the one who made the reservation or I would have verified this first.

One caveat to the courtyard hotel was easy access to and from the room that was right outside the handicap patking where the car sat. I went up front to see if they had a shower chair. No dice. There is a fitness center and a patio just outside the room. Marriots are not my first choice or last choice but the sleep was comfy, the matress was firm, the shower was hot. The staff was average not welcoming for a Sunday Morning.

At no point during that conversation was I warned that I would be placed on a Do Not Rent list or permanently banned from the property. When I questioned whether the balance may have been related to the incidental hold already placed on my card at the beginning of my stay, I was told I supposedly was NOT charged an incidental fee because I was a repeat customer. That explanation makes absolutely no sense considering I DID pay a $100 hold upfront at check-in, and I still have not received those funds back. So now I'm left in a situation where: * I paid a $100 hold at the start of the stay * I was later told I owed an additional balance * I still have not received the original held funds back * And I was placed on a DNR list without any warning beforehand This entire situation feels poorly communicated and badly managed. I fully understand paying legitimate charges, but guests deserve transparency and accurate accounting -- especially from a Marriott property. Instead of working through the confusion professionally, management escalated the situation immediately while I'm still trying to understand where my original hold money even went. Very disappointing experience and not the level of professionalism I expect from the Marriott/Bonvoy brand.

My room was spotless as were the hallways and lobby area. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a makeup remover wipe, microwave, mini fridge, and coffee machine were all on my room! The complimentary breakfast was really great also. There were options from waffles, fresh oatmeal, eggs, bacon, a variety of toasts, muffins, NUTELLA (I love nutella), coffee, various juices, and basically whatever you may need to kick start your day. What's the most standout to me about this hotel is how amazing and kind the staff is. They were genuinely so so sweet. I'll definitely be staying here from now on anytime I find myself in the area!

Despite the front desk staff and night auditor doing their best to help, the manager repeatedly refused to move us -- even though it was clear the issue wasn't a quick fix. Eventually, the night auditor did get us into a different room so he could fix the issue in the original room. This involved several hours of back & forth, attempting to resolve the issue and there are many details I'm leaving out for the sake of brevity. We didn't get to sleep until after 11 p.m., and I had been up since 5 a.m., traveling with two kids, after working half a day. What made things worse was IHG customer service. I specifically asked them not to contact the hotel until I'd fully explained what happened, but they ignored that and reached out anyway. I felt completely dismissed. I had no intention of going any further than a complaint to customer service. A different manager later offered me half off one night, which I did not expect or request but definitely appreciated. Unfortunately, I later realized I was charged in full before even arriving at the hotel. I still haven't received a refund. I appreciate the staff who tried to help, but the management and corporate response left me with no desire to return.

We went to complain to the manager, and the only thing he offered us was to dry our clothes in the dryer. That was it. No concern, no apology, nothing. We have never experienced something this horrible before. I had to take my daughter to the doctor, and they had to give her medication because of all the bites. Please do not stay at this hotel. It is disgusting, dirty, and completely unacceptable. From the outside it looks nice because it is located in a beautiful area, and it makes you think it is a good hotel, but it is absolutely not.
