Long post, but worth the warning: Avoid the Quality Inn across from Culver's in West Bend. Stayed one night (was supposed to be two) and it was disgusting. Yes, the bed and sheets were clean--but that's where the good news ends. There was urine on the bathroom floor, a filthy chair, a badly stained tub, broken security latch, barely-attached smoke detector, and furniture falling apart. (Pics to prove it.)( I did clean bathroom myself) Reported it to Choice Hotels, and despite sending photos, they claimed they couldn't confirm my stay--so they dismissed my complaint. This was the most disgusting place I ever stayed at. We were in West Bend for a family wedding and had we had time or the opportunity to RUN RUN away from this place upon arrival, we would have. The rooms smelled like smoke, the carpets were heavily stained, the sandpaper like towels were very small. The cabinets in the breakfast area had food stuff running down them. There was no elevator and the stairways were not air conditioned. The lamps and doors were broken. Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT book this hotel. The prices I paid for 2 rooms for 2 nights were appalling for the services received. I reached out to the hotel and booking.com, but didn't really get any satisfaction. This very unpleasant experience ruined the time we had in Wisconsin. Management at hotel had communication barrier and told us to deal with Booking.com. STAY AWAY!!!!!!! read more

It's a cheap motel. I guess we can't expect much. Yeah, there are bugs. I haven't seen any bedbugs, but I have seen a couple roaches. The staff is not good at speaking English, and having the covid partition makes it even more difficult to communicate since its muffles sound as well. It doesn't smell that great in here. The parking in front is limited, so make sure you're there early. The location is just where I needed; For me, thats the only real selling point to this place. Stay here if you want to get Covid and witness some weird stuff! I've stayed at some nice Quality Inn's, and I understand that this is a budget hotel, but you can't make this story up: When we got to our room, a man was walking out of it with 2 children all not wearing masks. He said he was "just checking the room", but we were spooked and immediately walked to the front desk to ask for a new room. It turns out the manager who needed to authorize the room change was the man that was in our previous room! Again when changing us rooms, instead of apologizing or explaining why he was in there with (hopefully his own) children, he told us again "I was just checking the room!". We replied that groups of people shouldn't be checking rooms without masks on AFTER they've been cleaned.. not professional, not right, and not Covid safe. Once we got to our room it had a strong smoke smell, chipped furniture, and a sink that wouldn't run cold water. I would've rather camped in a tent. read more

The maintenance is very lacking. The air inside the hotel smells like cigarette smoke, I'm pretty sure the employees are smoking somewhere in the hotel. There are broken appliances in rooms and no attention to fixing or replacing them. The breakfast is horrible. There's nothing and there's no hot water for tea or oatmeal. AND what's with the heat in the upstairs hallway? It's like 100 degrees in the hallways! I'm not coming back to this hotel. read more

we found roaches in our room and asked politely to change rooms and the kid working did and was nice, until the next morning when the general manager named Ron stopped us as we were coming in from a work job. He was upset we made him lose a 100 dollars by down grading our room in the middle of the night. I understood but we were paying him 1500 in total for 20 something nights. He then started screaming at me and my boyfriend, he wouldn't let me say one word he talked over every single word i said that entire time. As we were all getting frustrated he kicked us out saying he didn't want our type of people staying there even though for at least 10 minutes i was trying to explain how we aren't that type of people and we would usually never complain about things but THEY HAVE ROACHES CRAWLING UP THE WALLS AND ON THE GROUND , the customer service is the worst i've ever ever experienced by far, He got up in my face and pointed his finger at me and shushed me like a dog. Wasn't wearing a mask anytime i ever saw any of the staff even during a global pandemic. When he was in my boyfriends face he said he "wasn't going to hit him" that was scary. I heard him kick out a mother and kids in the middle of the night for the same petty reason. I made a reservation at a different hotel, but they didn't accept cats ... at all. We're traveling with 2 special needs kids, a service dog, and an emotional support cat (moving from East to West Coast). So they gave me the number for Quality Inn. I called to see if they could accommodate us. The lady who answered said it was not a problem so long as we had all our paperwork. Ummm what? FYI: For an emotional support animal (ESA), you need a letter from a medical doctor or therapist designating the need for the ESA, and there has to be some specific wording. We had that. No paperwork is required for a service animal and it's actually a violation of the ADA to demand any. The only questions a hotel may ask for a service animal are "who is the handler?" and "what task is the animal trained to perform" (must be related to the disability - so Fido being able to shake or roll over doesn't count, but a dog that alerts its owner when blood sugar spikes does). The only animals that can even BE registered with state agencies are for the vision or hearing impaired. I've looked, I've tried, but there's no *real* service animal registry. For our particular situation, we have an autism dog. He keeps my young son from running off, and also provides a calming influence when my son is overwhelmed, helping prevent self harm. The lady said other people brought in paperwork for their service animals. I said that's great, good for them, but it cannot be required. She said that's what previous guests have done and it's what her manager required. I explained the paperwork required for an ESA and what she was limited to asking me about the service dog, but she continued to insist that because some other people brought in some kind of paperwork that now that was required for service animals. I tried to explain that that would open herself and her manager up to a lawsuit as she was violating the ADA, but wasn't getting through. I hung up and found another place, that did follow ADA and provided excellent service. read more

This is a simple, clean hotel. Breakfast is nice. Staff is friendly. Business center is a joke though. It's a desk shoved in a corner of the laundry room with a computer with no anti virus running off a wireless hotspot. Totally not usable. Watch out the room price goes up $5 as you book a second person in your room reservation! read more

Booked 2 nts and found out relative we were going to visit tested positive for covid so tried to cancel 60 hrs in advance. Mgr told me there was a 72 hr cancellation policy. I said I would sacrifice the first night but the second was more than 72 hrs in advance so I would like a refund. Told me that since I booked 2 nites no changes were allowed and no refund would be given. Called corporate (RJ) and they agreed with the mgr. Been a choice member since 2007. No longer. read more

Horrific Customer Service. Quoted a room rate, they increased it upon our arrival. Today when I checked my credit card it was raised again! Trying to communicate with these people was pointless. They are right, I am wrong. When I contacted the manager I didn't receive a return call or email. Aside from their room rate games - stay away. Stay far, far, far away from this hotel! We expected the basics since we booked at a pretty economical price, but we did not expect the level of uncleanliness and lack of proper customer service we encountered. The hotel itself is pretty run down, much in need of both a good face lift as well as repairs in many common areas. The side guest entrance door to the walkway leading to the parking lot had a green button to press to unlock the door, however the door never locked behind us which was a safety concern as our two adjoining rooms were immediately beyond this separate guest entrance. (We were able to exit this side door without pressing the green button to unlock the door, and were able to enter this side door without using a keycard). The rooms were very basic which was fine, as we didn't expect the Ritz for the price we paid. However as we unpacked, we noticed time and time again things that as we added up later on, should have sent us on our way to try and book another hotel so as not to completely have our overnight trip to WI ruined. At the time we thought we'd stick it out, as we weren't planning on spending much time in the rooms anyway. Upon checking in, the rooms felt dirty - the carpet was gross and dingy and the bedspreads were stained and soiled. Both rooms had weird odors; they weren't entirely disgusting but smelled almost of cheap cologne or air freshener trying to mask something deeper. As we placed our bags on one of the beds in room 132, we noticed a large spot that looked like a blood stain or food spot on the comforter; also the carpet and bed skirt along the bed had white, splotchy stains that went along the length of the bed. Again, we figured we would just deal with this since we were only spending one night here. Whenever we sat on the toilet, it was loose and sounded like the toilet was about to detach. The curtains were ragged and torn and didn't do a very good job of keeping out the glaring lights of the bank drive-through next door. The most alarming issue occurred at 1:30 AM as I was awakened by my 13 year old daughter who was in the adjoining room 130 and was very distraught and upset because she had found a bed bug on her. She had looked up bed bugs on her phone and sure enough, it was a bed bug which she removed from her shirt and placed in the bathroom for me to come see. I immediately brought it to the attention of the front desk staff who showed really no concern about this other than to offer us different rooms. In the meantime I had returned to my daughter's room to do a more thorough check and saw another bug when I lifted her mattress. We immediately packed up and hit the road at 2 AM to drive 2 hours back home, as staying at this dump was not an option, nor was trying to find alternate accommodations at 2 AM at all feasible or pleasant. My follow up attempts with this hotel were unsuccessful and the manager never returned my calls over a 3 day period. That is the most disappointing of all, because clearly he doesn't care about rectifying this issue. Again, don't waste your time or money with this dump. We had looked at the other beds subsequently and found they had mattress covers/wraps on them - I can only guess that these might be used to keep bed bugs from getting out of the mattresses and into the room. This establishment fit our needs perfectly. The room was clean, the air worked great and the room cleaning was timely. The staff is more than accommodating - just remember to treat them with respect, as associates doing a job the quickest and fastest way they can. They went above and beyond their calls of duty more than once for us-and even late at night. Ron and Pinky manage this establishment very well and maintain an extremely clean breakfast area-good selection of food. There are many security cameras located inside and outside of the motel. This ensures safety and accountability. We have stayed at this motel more than once and have always found it to be The best bang for the buck. We will stay here again when we go back to West Bend. read more

I have never had such an awful experience in my entire life and I haven't even stepped foot inside! I made a block reservation for my wedding MONTHS ago, and today I received a call from a guest who said that they could not find our block. When I called the hotel Ron from the West Bend location, informed me that "someone" called and cancelled the reservation. Now being the BRIDE who made the reservation in the first place I was obviously upset and angry. Did I get an "I'm sorry let me try to help fix this"? Absolutely not! I was told Ron would call me back and after all day of him trying to "figure this out" he informed me that the motel across the street had room for me and would probably give me a better price than he had. Keep in mind this is for my WEDDING! He did not apologize, try to accommodate me in any way and just seemed not to care. I stayed the night of 4/20/18 at 2433 W. Washington St, in West Bend, WI. I have to say the bed and bed linens were absolutely the MOST comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel. The room was clean, and I appreciated the "extras" (hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and in-room coffee pot). The complimentary breakfast in the AM offered a nice variety and selection from eggs to waffles to oatmeal, to yogurt (while the eggs were on the cold side everything else was good). West Bend Quality Inn is DISGUSTING!!!!! Staff was rude and incompetent. Sitting out front smoking cigarettes and talking on the phone when we arrived. Then telling me I have to use my personal computer to make a reservation because she was behind a desk STARING AT A COMPUTER and UNABLE TO SET US UP with a different accommodation BY HERSELF. When I asked for a manager, she giggled and said, "Ah no, he not here. He not be able to help you anyway. You have to go on your computer to be able to get a room to stay here." WHAT A CROCK!!!!!! Let kids go to pool and it was nearly BROWN on sides with a clogged filter. Hot tub looked like the bubbling ejaculate of a thousand men and smelled AWFUL!! TV didn't work. In morning (615am) I needed to use a scissors from front desk for a moment and actually had to call the front desk TWICE from the FRONT DESK phone sitting on counter!! Your morning manager was so disheveled and disoriented he could barely open his eyes, mumbling about just sleeping. Awful. Awful. Awful. With ICE COLD EGGS & SAUSAGE GRAVY on top.
