    Room 200 William H Horn

Cute B&B located in the middle of town and dating back to 1886! Close to wineries, bars, movie theater, bakeries, boutique shops, art galleries, a waterfall, and a chocolate shop next door. The main building is made out of a cream city brick that is three stories. The lobby is bright and has lots of historical pictures and artifacts. Each room is uniquely decorated, named after various people, has original fixtures, and had a whirlpool tub. There is also another house a few doors down. I stayed in the main building on the second floor in the William H. Horn room. It is very charming and has a Victorian flare. There is a dark wooden desk, a mini marble table and wooden chairs, a bronze coat rack, a picture of some flowers, ample original lights, original wooden plantation shutters, and a tv in the armour. The bed is very comfortable and the tub was lovely to soak in. There is a shower if you do not enjoy baths. The room is one of the most romantic rooms at the inn. The inn is known for their scones and wine/cheese happy hour. But due to covid, no more happy hour and breakfast is no longer served in the dining room. Breakfast is brought to your room. You just fill out a menu sheet and give it to the housekeeper before midnight. Options include coffee, tea, home made pastries, hard boiled egg, seasonal fruit, oatmeal, cereal, and orange juice. The inn is so lovely and I enjoyed staying. Would love to come back soon!

Each room is disinfected and sealed before check in!

Oh how I love The Washington House Inn!!! On a last minute quickie girl's trip we decided to get out of town but didn't want to go too far. I had visited Cedarburg but never stayed the night. So I was excited to introduce my friend to this adorable town and experience an overnight stay. The Washington House Inn offered a great value, superb customer service and went the extra mile for safety during these strange times. Sitting right on the main street, it is in the heart of it all. A short walk to literally everything is right out the door. It certainly has a grand presence on this beautiful thoroughfare. The small lobby offers a quaint and comforting first impression. The desk is small and the woman who checked us in was very sweet. Loved everything immediately. The keys had been sanitized and were in a little plastic bag. And when I say keys, I mean metal keys literally! Love it! The hall floors creak with many memories singing to the latest visitors. As we walked along looking for our room we got so excited. It feels great to stay at a vintage property that doesn't feel like a hotel at all. We arrived at our door and saw that they had sanitized and sealed the room. I loved that they did that! Our huge room face Washington Avenue where all the shops and restaurants are. There were at least 20 windows with cute little wooden shutters. The bathroom was tiny but had a giant bathtub. The tv remote was also sanitized and in a plastic bag. After walking around town we decided to go back to the hotel and sit outside to enjoy some champagne. The front desk girl saw we were leaving with the ice bucket, glasses and a bottle of champagne. She asked if we were going to sit outside. I thought she was going to stop us. Instead she went and brought us 2 chairs! We sat just outside the hotel, enjoying the rest of our evening. Upon returning to our room, homemade cookies in a bag were on our doorknob. Wow! What a tasty surprise! Breakfast is included. We ordered the night before and it was brought to our room the next morning. They knock and leave it at the door to reduce contact. Nice. I loved everything about our experience. The charming look and feel of the property, the kind and personable service and attention to cleanliness and safety has made me a true fan. Perfection! *Apologies - my phone had the nerve to break as soon as we arrived. So I was only able to snap one photo. Next time...

The Washington House Inn was SPECTACULAR! Adorable downtown with tons of shops, restaurants, and also discovered a great little distillery where we purchased a delicious House Gin. Yes I said Gin was delicious. Staff of Washington House was wonderful and the room was everything I wanted. The jacuzzi tub on the upper level was plenty big for my husband and I to lounge in comfortably with a little fire place in the corner for ambiance lighting. So beautiful and romantic. We stayed in Room 218 - Emil Herziger. We also got the Fate Night package. Dinner $50, movie tickets, and wine tour. Worth it! It was very clean and the whole transaction was easy/as described on their website. Will definitely be staying again!

The room was lovely and quaint. The walk-in marble steam shower was beautiful and elegant. We stayed two nights in the "Friederich Boerner" room and it was very comfortable. Smallish room but not cramped. The bathroom itself was overall smaller than usual but again, the marble steam shower was quite large and made up for it, lined in beautiful white and gray marble. The breakfast of homemade quiches, three different sweet breakfast breads or cakes, fresh cut fruit cups (with great variety of fruit: grapefruit, strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, grapes, etc., all made fresh and crisp in the morning --nothing canned or fake), juices, bagels, English muffins, excellent coffee and many teas. We had one small issue in the room and Wendy, the hotel manager on duty, helped us so cheerfully and couldn't have been more interested in our happiness --a great ambassador for the inn. We will stay here again when in the area!

tl;dr Not your typical bed and breakfast. Think of this as a boutique hotel that happens to have a wine and cheese hour. Ideal location, clean rooms, quiet, and oh so relaxing. We'll definitely be back. We booked two nights in Emil Herziger (room 218), which is a two level suite. The first level featured the king bed, gas fireplace (with a switch near the door as well as next to the bed), exposed stone walls, hidden tv, and the only lackluster part of our entire stay, the small and dark bathroom. The second level featured the huge whirlpool bath, another gas fireplace, skylights, exposed stone wall, another hidden tv and mini-fridge. The bed was a bit hard for our taste, but, the sheets were luxurious. We never heard a peep of noise from other guests. Free bottles of water were on both levels, and, when we skipped on our room cleaning, they left a basket of extra towels, water bottles, coffee and more for us at our door. Breakfast was a bountiful mix of egg casseroles, potato casseroles, pastries, fruit, cereal, more juice options than you can imagine and more. Oh, if you'd rather not head down for breakfast you can fill out a room service request form, and for no additional charge, you can have your breakfast brought right up to your room. The wine and cheese hour was easy going. No forced communication between guests, more than enough wine to go around (local too), and a good helping of cheese/cheese spreads. Parking was extremely close and a spot was always available. Oh, and checkout is nice and late, which made for some extra time in the whirlpool tub. As for location, you're next to an old school one screen theatre, a chocolate shop, an impressive beer/cocktail bar (North48), a dive with a great fish fry and the cheesiest french onion soup, and so much more. You can't go wrong staying at the Washington House Inn.

My wife is disabled and travels with a small service dog who is always vested, carries an ID card, and is registered and certified; this was noted in our online booking. This was our first stay at any B&B of *any* size; in the past two years we've spent 36 nights at hotels both independent and branded. The room we stayed in, the Moose Room, is very well-equipped with exquisite attention to detail. The bed was pleasure to sleep in and had the most comfortable sheets we've ever encountered in a hotel room. A two-person Kohler whirlpool tub is in the main room. We were astounded at how quickly the tub filled and we were never short of hot water. The shower has a very inexpensive nozzle on it; a removable or rainfall style showerhead would be more befitting the quality of the rest of the room. I can say that Tausheck's is an extremely high quality facility with extreme attention to detail and very comfortable rooms. The Tausheck's should be commended for the quality of the B&B. Unfortunately, I can't say we will be back since we now know that this isn't the type of place for us given our unique situation, which probably doesn't apply to you. If you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway in the "greater Sheboygan" area, I'd highly recommend Tausheck's and think you'd have a great time there. --postscript-- My previous review (which I edited and have subsequently raised the rating to three stars) dealt with some exchanges with the innkeepers specific to accommodating my spouse's service dog. Given that this was the first time that the innkeepers dealt with a service dog in their 12 years of existence, they did accommodate us the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time. We learned after our stay that inns of this size are exempt from the Americans with Disabilities Act as there are 5 or fewer rooms - see 28 C.F.R. § 36.104. This wasn't known to us, or the innkeepers at the time of our stay, so it's unfair for me to dive into the specifics. That being said, I hope that the B&B's web site is revised to reflect this so that any other guests having a similar situation to ours are aware in advance and can make the appropriate decision.

NOT family-friendly. In fact, not friendly AT ALL. My…read moresister and I started a Christmas tradition a few years ago of taking our daughters (ages 6 and 7) to afternoon tea. This year we decided to try Low Tea at the Schuster Mansion. I truly wish I had read the reviews beforehand, because we would not have booked -- and after our visit, I now understand why so many others had similar experiences. I noticed from those reviews, the owner seems to respond by gaslighting those who gave negative reviews- very unprofessional behavior. But here's our story anyways. From the moment we walked in, the tone was unwelcoming. The owner immediately made it clear that children were not really wanted there, repeatedly saying that "this is for adults" and that the girls would need to "act like adults." She even told them they should feel lucky to be allowed there at all. When my daughter simply looked at a bowl of candy near the entrance, she was sharply told that the candy was only for adults. Expecting young children not to even look at candy felt unreasonable and unnecessarily harsh. Absurd. We were told to wander while our coats were taken, but when we did exactly that, we were abruptly scolded and made to feel like we were doing something wrong. At that point, we honestly should have left. When we were seated, the tablecloth was still dirty and there were crumbs left behind. The owner continued to lecture us about how the space was meant for adults, insisting tea was meant for ages 8+. That directly contradicts their own website, which states that tea is appropriate for ages 5 and up. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that my sister even asked the owner whether it would be better if we left. The tea service itself was disappointing. The tea was lukewarm at best even after being told that we had to wait while the tea was being warmed. We were never told what the desserts were, and we were not offered water refills. While seated, I also overheard the owner speaking negatively to other guests about a previous guest she had from England, which added to the uncomfortable feeling. The area near our table was dusty and clearly hadn't been cleaned in some time. We left as soon as we could -- and it felt like the owner was eager for us to go as well. The bright spot of the afternoon was a kind guest who came over specifically to tell us how polite and well-behaved our girls were. Afterward, we took the girls to Colectivo for hot chocolate, which they enjoyed far more. They even said they felt happy to finally be somewhere they could just be kids again. Overall, we felt like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. The tone from the owner was condescending and unfriendly, especially toward children, which made the entire experience stressful instead of special. We will not return and unfortunately cannot recommend Schuster Mansion to others.
