I'm good with two stars. I only came here to sleep and shower. I did mind the small annoyance of the bathroom door sticking to the door jam. Makes a large popping sound so I left it open while I was there. They were working on the roof when I was there. When I first pulled in, there was a scissor lift with yellow tape around part if the bldg. Made me look a little sideways at my 3 day reservation. The room, upon walkin, was smelly. Very humid, very damp or musty. The Air conditioner also smelled moldy and musty. The room was dark, even with all the lights on. I didn't chance getting under the covers in bed. I always bring my sleeping bag and sleep on top of the covers! Always! The shower; a trickle of water. I had to stay in extra long to ensure it washed all my shampoo out. The TV was small and only was Dish TV. Eww. Luckily I have Pluto and Netflix apps on my phone. :) The TV needed to have new menu settings, I couldn't see what channels the shows were on. :/ I wore my slides in the room. I took no chances with dirty feet as showing on other Yelp pictures. I went to breakfast, only this morning on my way out. I was glad they offered a small yogurt and banana. The coffee was excellent, however the scrambled eggs looked like they were refrigerated overnight and heated up today. Also not sure why they would have frozen veggies in the tin right next to the eggs. They were dry and shriveled up. No bad visitors there bothering me. No loud noises keeping me awake. New ownership in 2024. It's clear they're turning this place around - it's not 100% yet, but it's definitely not the sketchy place described in the older reviews. New (and very comfortable) beds, new curtains, clean, and very friendly staff. The new owners are obviously still working through a long backlog of repairs and maintenance, but we felt comfortable and safe staying here. Very convenient downtown location, too. read more

This was the worst experience I have EVER had at a hotel. The room was extremely dirty. The bottom sheets had what looked to be blood stains on them and other questionable stains. The walls had writing on them. Everything just looked to be extremely unclean and very dated. As if it couldn't be any worse we discovered a dollar with cocaine in it. We had to call the police in which they confirmed the drug. When we went to the front desk about the issue they tried to play it off like it was ours and would not offer us a refund because it was "already 6Pm and check in was 3Pm". Even after the manager spoke to the police he was not helpful in giving us a refund even though we made it very clear we would not be staying there. Not only did we not get a refund they charged both my card and my husbands card so that is now almost $200 we are out and we still had to find another hotel in the area. The hotel itself also just feels very unsafe. There are clearly people living there and very creepy men were staring at me every time we left the room. Completely scary vibes and obviously illegal things are going on here if there are drugs in the hotel room. This also goes to show that the rooms aren't being cleaned because how did they not see this in the bathroom if it was being cleaned properly??? DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Sooo it's more like a motel... 2 story and there's lot of work vans around after 5/5:30pm. Lot of people standing outside and smoking. I'd be scared to be in my room if I were by myself. Im glad I had my coworker to feel safe other than that, I was very scared. The bathroom is so small and the toilet was moving. Carpet and everything else is dirty. read more

I reserved a room here & when I checked in everything was good - good customer service, friendly staff, good room - a good value for $62 + tax. When I checked out, however, the person who identified herself as the manager was exceptionally rude & initially refused to give me a receipt. Her obnoxious attitude only worsened throughout our interaction. I'm mainly giving this 2 stars because it is way overpriced. There is no way a king bed at a Quality Inn in Covington Virginia should cost $110. I'm not giving it 1 star because the hotel staff is nice. The air conditioning is really loud, the tv is tiny, and my door key card machine didn't work so every time I wanted to get in my room, the staff had to open my door (which they did promptly). I would not stay here again, but to be fair I'm going to make every effort not to stay in Covington VA either. read more

Was very unimpressed with the price that I paid for the shoe box size room we check in at 12 at night after making reservations online the room heater did not work went to the front desk he tried to fix it cuz that was put in another room the toilet rock door under let the cold air then barely have enough room to put up a pack and play had to walk sideways by the foot of the bed so that I get to hit my head on the flat screen that was mounted to the wall room was about a 10 by 10 a double bed with smaller than my double bed at home read more

First and foremost, you should know that the staff is really friendly. The one star is not for them. They get a solid 5 stars for friendliness. I got in really late to check in in this small VA town. Even though we woke up the staff, they were friendly as ever to get us checked in. But the rest of the experience was a travesty. This place is more accurately described as a motel and they need to be more transparent about that. Covington has a paper mill, in which the contractors to come here for work stay at this Quality Inn because it is less than 5 minutes to the mill. And since it's a motley crew of contractors away from home, this is their home away from home. And by that, I mean this is a non-smoking hotel, but mine and my traveling partner's room smelled exclusively like cigarette smoke and weed at all times. One time when I came back from being out, the smell was so strong that it gave me a headache. There is always a mixture of cigarette smoke, marijuana, and failed air freshener. All the furniture and appliances have so much wear on them and it's as if they have no intention to preserve it or even clean much. Surfaces were sticky. We left with all our clothes smelling like cigarettes and moldy hotel. This place was my first impression of Covington, and it did not look good for Covington. And for some reason, everything was unplugged when I first walked in. TV, fridge, lamps, phone, all unplugged, and that is an odd miss. Outside of my questionable room, I was on the second floor, near the end of the row and the end was piled up with what I'm assuming was trash that was supposed to be tossed out, but it was there for my entire stay. Broken hotel furniture, miscellaneous trash, and a dog leash cable tied around the balcony rail. This is a pet-friendly hotel, but if you have a dog, there is no grass on this property. You'll need to go across the street to the bank who happens to have a patch of grass for your dog to do their business. I hated this place. It was so dirty that I didn't want to touch anything. We were supposed to stay for four nights. I couldn't take it after one but had to stay one more night before I could get us to a better hotel. I booked another hotel as soon as I could. If you're an independent contractor for the paper mill, fine, I'm sure this place is your go-to and you smoke like a chimney because who actually follows non-smoking rules in a town of 5k people? But I'll pass on the hotel that looks like the last place I'll ever be seen alive, thanks. read more

The "Quality" Inn is not closed. I stayed her in August of 2015. It is open under new management but is still a dump. The front desk staff and cleaning staff was very friendly. The bedspread had a hole burned in it, I had booked the motel when it was still a Choice property so had a very good rate. When I got there the computer was down so they were going to charge me full price. I had to go get my computer and show her the reservation and finally was able to check in to the dump. The walls were covered in filth and the bath was as well. The furniture was ancient. The TV was probably the newest item in the room. I would NOT recommend this to anyone. It was apparently closed, and is now open again. I so wish I had looked on Yelp for a review. This is not a place to stay. Clean, but oh so tired, everything needs to be updated and the room is so stuffed with furniture there is hardly room for people. It was $97.00 for two senior citizens and was worth about $40.00. The hotel staff was not even trained properly and had to call the manager/owner to do our transaction. The pictures below do not do the room justice, it is much worse. read more
