For being the dead of winter and us just needing to stop in to afternoon relax, they are somewhat winterized but they have a super warm shower and bathhouse, laundry and it is a beautiful site to walk around. They have a dog park, but there were some questionably mannered Lhapsa aspos dogs in there so we did a loop around the park and it is beautiful. It's a great place to stop. read more

We got to swing by and spend a few nights here at Natural Bridge and we must say after dodging a tornado this was really such a peaceful, welcoming and drop dead gorgeous place to be. We booked a premium site and loved how gorgeous and clean the site, fire pit and surroundings are. Even better the dogs and we loved feeding the goats and only wished we could get away from it all and come stay here again someday. If you are driving through Virginia, this is a beautiful and very peaceful KOA that reminds you of the powerful serenity of nature. read more

My Brother and I camped here overnight in tents. it was not crowded (the tent section) but the sites were a bit close together. Each tent site had a level pad, picnic table and fire ring. it is right off I-81 so traffic noise at night is bothersome. in a camper it would probably not be nearly as noticeable. At the entrance you are greeted and checked in. Don't even have to exit your vehicle. there is a camp store which we did not used but looked nice. RV's are guided by an employee to their site which is very nice. The laundry and bathroom/shower facilities were the best i have seen at any campground. The grounds were well maintained and the lots were easy to get in and out of. while we were there we saw numerous employees cleaning the grounds and picking up trash. It is a KOA so is not a destination in and of itself but it is a nice place to stop for a night or two and explore the area. Natural Bridge and Lexington are well worth a few days of exploring. read more

This place deserves between a 3 and a 4. Out of the 3 koas we have stayed at, it falls in the middle. Koa Elizabethtown, pa- game room with area to order food. Larger pool. Putt putt and swingsets. Kept my kids busy during our entire visit. Koa natural bridge- super friendly and helpful staff. You can borrow balls and other things from the front desk, which was appreciated. Sadly not much to do on the grounds. No activities during our stay. The pool was clean but cold (78 max, 76 some days). We stayed in one of the cabins. It was confusing what would be provided and what wouldn't. Plastic dishes were included but tongs for the grill weren't. The mattress on the big bed was heavenly compared to many places or our sleeping pads. Sadly, no recycling here. They are trying ways to be more "green", but recycling isn't one of them. Our bathroom smelled like pee and I couldn't figure why. Turns out one of the towels smelled like it when wet. Gag! The door to our cabin had a hard time latching. You'd shut it normally but it wouldn't catch. Our cabin was cute and rustic but felt overpriced for what it was. Considering most of the other cabins and rv sites were empty during out stay, it seems others agree. Lots of one night visits make me think it is a popular drive through site. The arcade was decent but had a lot of things out of order or really expensive options- think $2 for a claw machine. Greedy, much!? Would I stay again? Maybe if the price was a little lower or they had more things to do. The other koa was in Hagerstown, md. It was conveniently located by a river which was nice, but had trouble checking people in. I was told my cabin but had trouble finding it. After driving around the campsite 4 times, I finally tracked down an employee and had them escort me to my site. There was a trick to opening the door which no one mentioned, so I had to go back to the office to figure out how to open the door. read more

Super easy on and off from 81! It's clean, well maintained and the staff are super friendly. We stayed in a patio site (it was nice not to have to get out our grill and then clean it). The site was gravel and fairly level. The sites are decent sized, but like every KOA we have stayed in, they are on top of each other. This is a great home base for seeing the attractions in the area, it's right around the corner from the Safari Park (that's worth a visit) and Natural Bridge State Park. First time at a KOA. The staff is very friendly, the facilities are immaculate, and the camping areas have plenty of space for an expansive set up. We were in tent space 48, which was very private and had a lot of trees over it so we were able to sleep in fairly late. The bathrooms were as clean as a hotel and the shower had great water pressure. Due to covid there was a pool sign up which we didn't have time to do but it looked clean. Amazing stay! It is early November and We were traveling back to Maryland from Tennessee and were trying to beat some snow that was moving in, so we needed a place to stop and it was late. We called ahead and the girl at the front desk was amazing. So friendly and accommodating. When we arrived at 11 pm there was a map & note telling us to call a # for an escort t our site. We were sitting there contemplating whether or not to call that late and a guy in a golf cart showed up to show us to our site. He was waiting on us and he was also very friendly and didn't seem to mind at all how late we were. We slept in the next morning and took a short walk before leaving. Beautiful, well kept campground. Not huge but seemed to have some nice amenities for the size. Loved the free roaming chickens in front of the office. Nice large pull thru sites. Easy on And off access to 81! My wife, daughter and I came here for the first time this weekend. Absolutely stunning campground! I cannot stress enough how well maintained, beautiful, and peaceful this place is. Lets get down and dirty THE GOOD. 1.people where somewhat nice ,i have had better/and worse 2.bathroom was clean 3.fire wood was not wet (big one) 4.definitely right off the highway,easy access 5.the pink cadillac was some tasty eats(not in the koa,so does not help the review) THE BAD (which outweighs the good) 1.the campground was under repair(many campsites) so it was not pleasing to the eye 2.my site was not well marked 3.not level 4.debris everywhere(more vegitation litter,but some trash as well) 5.guest were loud.loud,loud(you need to keep campers in check,hint ,hint ) 6.one campsite had the whole place lit up like a christmas tree(have to keep campers in check hint,hint) 7.roads around campsite was dreadful 8.camp store was average at best 9.tree's were cut down yet large stumps are left in place (come on take them all the way out) 10.people driving their carts around late at night keeping everyone up(crowd control hint,hint) 11.one site with a movie screen set up the you could hear one state over(campers in check hint,hint) 12 there is more but i will leave it at that read more

Better than most other KOA's Most recent stay was June 19th thru June 22nd 2017 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area We didn't get as close to the restroom/shower building as we would have liked, but our site was more private than a lot of others. The building was roomy with ample # of stalls and sinks at the vanity area plus appeared to have been remodeled/updated with full on tile walls and floors, fixtures, and stalls. It was clean plus good ventilation with the AC during heat of summer. Nice conveniences in shower stalls with hooks for towels and clothes, shelves for toiletries, and a bench in private changing area. Only wish is for rubber floor mats to help keep feet off wet floor. Sink area had paper towels to help clean up after use (nice convenience) but wish for hooks between mirrors for hand towel Usually don't like KOA's but this one is better than most because of more spacing between sites and selection of sites due to their aesthetics, some with grass, trees, picnic table area, privacy along with the special tent sites, and the rental cabins/tiny houses, sparkling swimming pool etc. However, each site is still quite narrow even with a gravel "patio type" extension for the picnic tables. Must mention this place is somewhat hilly and could require blocking to level your rv [checkout all my photo's] and also a work in process renovating/improving various campsites; a thumbs up to the owners who show they really do care. read more

We are a kamping family and brought our friends for their families first camping trip! Never before have a found a campsite with such clean bathrooms, showers and laundry rooms! The activities here for kids are great, swimming, ice cream, scavenger hunts, game rooms and train/wagon rides! The staff here is very friendly and at tentative to your needs and request. They address issues right on the spot! This is our second trip here and we love this campground. They have upgraded many of the cabins and facilities here. read more

What an awesome RV park! We are so impressed. We got here on a Friday night without reservations and they were able to get us in on a premium site. The sites are amazing, totally level with concrete pads. They have a fire ring and built-in seating, tracks gliders and table with chairs, also a propane grill which was very nice to make dinner on. Sites are nicely spaced, the place is beautiful and well-kept. Really beautiful cabins that are just being built and very nice tent sites. Nice playground for the children, nice game room and exceptionally nice pool. Also the people here are very friendly and are totally on top of everything. Highly recommend. Just off I81. read more

Only stayed one night but it was a nice spot to stay. Close to Downtown Lexington, nice spacious sites. My dog and I enjoyed the Halloween decorated nature trail, dog park, and seeing the goats! Game room, picnic areas, bath houses looked nice but did not use any of them. The people on the site next to mine said the amenities were great! read more

Great location for seeing the sites. Everything is less than 30 min from there. The campground is a little tight. We have a 30 ft travel trailer and some of the turns were a little tight getting into and out of the sites. Our site was near the entrance/exit. There did seem to be a bit of traffic during the day but did not notice at night. The pad itself was level but where the picnic table and fire pit were located was on a steep grade. The pad was a little narrow also. The store was stocked well. We did not use it but I did look around. There was a nice playground and a huge checker set outside the office for kids to play on (I lost). The staff was nice and helpful. We stayed for two nights. They do have cable and WiFi. The connection for WiFi was decent. The bathouse/restrooms were clean and stocked. They had the nature trail decorated for Halloween but they only have it working on the weekends. read more

I really don't know what these other reviews are talking about. The sites have plenty of room, there is a pool and arcade, store with staple items and the staff was very friendly. We stayed here just passing through on our way back home. The night we arrived there was a great country band playing and had an ice cream social for all of the guests. Cons are each site doesn't have full hook ups and the pads are gravel. read more

Clean. Friendly. Convenient. It is right off the highway and super easy to get to. The Rangers were helpful and nice. We even saw one feeding a little squirrel. It is right next to an animal safari park that you can walk to! We are looking forward to staying there again. The showers alone are worth the stay! They are unisex and private. I've never seen a campground with such nice bathrooms and showers. The staff was super friendly. So many things for the kids to do during October. Hayride, costume contest, trick or treating, and bingo. I see the previous review about noise, the noise was normal for a campground. Cmon it's the weekend and people are on vacation. Of course they are going to stay up late at the playground and talk and carry on. It's vacation!!! The campground is 5 min to the safari, which I highly recommend, we'll worth the price. Go early, not so crowded and the animals are ready for you to feed them. 10 min to natural bridge, which is breathtaking. Only complaint was the cost of wood, a little high and burned fast. Other then that....I will return!!!! read more

On our return trip to NY, my husband and I stopped at this KOA for an overnight stay. We chose the campground based on reviews that were posted. This campground proved to be exactly as described. The sites were well maintained, the grounds were immaculate and the facilities were modern and clean. We will definitely plan a longer stay when we travel to Virginia in the future. read more

We stayed here for a week in April. The campground is very clean. Bathrooms and showers are very clean and have plenty of hot water. The dog park is small but adequate. The park seems to be a popular spot for overnight campers just needing a one night stay while traveling. I didn't notice many people staying longer than one night. The site we were on was level and we had no problems setting up our 5th wheel (site 5). The sites are pretty close together but I felt like we had enough privacy. The laundry room is very nice. They have a basketball court, volleyball court, pool, game room, playground, and a short "nature trail". We were about 15 minutes from Lexington and about 45 from Roanoke. It was the perfect home base for a lot of hiking and site seeing. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and willing to point us in the direction for activities and adventures. read more

LOVE KOA's, exclusively camp in them as they are very family oriented. We have a 18ft travel trailer and camp with our two preschoolers. Camped the week before Columbus Day. Stayed five nights in the deluxe patio site with porch swing, gas grill (so nasty we couldn't use) and umbrella (filled with bugs and couldn't use) over patio table and comfy. Raised fire box on patio with screen to cover if desired. Can't comment on pool, bath house or restrooms. PROS: --Two playgrounds for the kids. --Nature walk path. --Central location b/n Staunton and Roanoke. --Older couple super nice (that manage campground). --Nicely stocked campstore - with ice cream! --Papa John's delivers pizza to campsite. --Off season the campground is not crowded. CONS: --Younger man is grumpy, grumpy, grumpy. It was due to rain two days and my husband asked if the man could recommend any indoor attractions BESIDES the Roanoke Transportation Museum and the man recommended the two local zoos. (hunh?) DH also asked why the WIFI doesn't work, man told him he needed a clear signal (no trees, no campers, etc.). DH couldn't get a signal in the store, right in front of the man. Man shrugged. We get it, we're camping. But don't advertise that feature if you can't deliver. --Very unlevel spots. Luckily we had plenty of contraptions to level our camper. The older gentleman did offer add'l boards, that was nice. --Camp store was typically overpriced. --Campers came and went all day long until well after dark - for just one night. Kinda a transient place off the highway I guess for ppl traveling. Overall, because of the grumpy staff and unlevel spots, we will probably not be back to this particular KOA. read more

If you are a full-time or , or in need of an extended stay, you may have trouble getting mail in a timely manner. As all of us who travel and live this way, we need to get mail, and packages on a regular basis. Whether it be parts for a trailer or a trucks or any other packages that have to ship through the postal service. This includes medication. This may have to come United States Postal Service. This park does not appear to pick up mail on a regular basis. To me this wad unacceptable. I've had a package over there since July 31, and now it is August 3. I keep checking, and all I hear is that we haven't gotten over to the PO Box yet. Since my complaint however, they seem more responsive. So if you're considering a long-term stay, indicate that you need to get mail. Ok for HDT's and long lengths. read more

Great campground. We stayed in a deluxe cabin, site 93. Very clean. Well stocked. Even included toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap for the bathroom, bath towels, wash cloths, kitchen sponge, kitchen towel and ,wash cloth. Wasn't expecting any of that so of course we brought our own. Would have been nice to include that the stuff was there on the website. But, I can easily look beyond that and appreciated the fact it was there. The camp ground was very close to interstate 81 so it was really convenient and surprisingly you couldn't hear it. The patio furniture was nice and the grill was spacious and worked. We had no problems with other campers and it was really quiet. All interactions with the staff were nice. read more

BUT while we were trying to resolve our problems, Ken and Chris and another camper were EXTREMELY accommodating and went out of their way to try to get us up and running again. Basic campground but well kept, convenient, and beautiful surroundings. We stayed Wed-Sat on the backend of our Spring Break during the first week of April. Because it was early in the season, pool, etc was big open but we expected that. Sites are quite sloped... if you don't have substantial levelers, you may consider bringing blocks or risk sleeping with your head below your feet and your shower not draining. BUT we are in the mountains so, ya know. Plus, they are in the middle of a lot of refurbishing, including what seems to be the leveling of lots. Golf carts are not needed... sites are close together, campground is small. Walking gets you everywhere (kids might like their bikes). There is a nature trail through the woods that is an easy walk for the dogs. Store had no bread - no hot dog or hamburger buns, no actual bread either..... normal for a day, but they didn't have it the entire time we were there. So we went down the street to Laynes Country store to spend our money. Kind of glad the camp didn't have bread bc Laynes was super cute! (I'll review that next!) I know this sounds odd, but the best thing about this KOA is the bathhouse!!! I NEVER use the bathhouse anywhere we camp but this bathhouse was great!!! (I used the one attached to the store.) I think it must've just been redone.... the showers seemed brand new - nice tile, bench for dressing, hooks for towels and clothes. What appears to be new countertops and sinks and outlets for blow dryers in the main room. Nice hot water, good water pressure, real faucets and shower heads, shelves for holding your soaps. I'd maybe suggest new paint in the main room, but other than that, I had zero issues using this bathhouse - a first for me! Overall great overnight campground. Amenities will be fine in the on season. We spent most of our time exploring anyway. Note that we have just this season begun travel camping again... had a seasonal permanent at Grey's Point for 5 years, so my recent comparisons are few :) read more

Its a great place to stay. Bathrooms are so nice, pool is perfect, laundry room is nice (quarters needed). The one thing I did not like at all was being on a site with cinder and clay as "pavement"/ground and having rain pour and flood our site, leaving puddles not able to soak into the ground. With a place like Virginia where rain is unpredictable, campsites should have something to soak up the rain as it comes. read more
