Horrible!!! My 3 kids and I stay at Quality Inn hotels quite a bit. This one was AWFUL! We checked in to the first room and there was a huge roach laying on his back waving his legs around on the bathroom floor. Then there were stains on the sheets and pillow cases. Took pics and went back down to show the manager. They put us in another room where there were dried blood stains all over the floor, lock broken on door, stains on curtains and lamp shades. We took more pics and went downstairs again to just ask for a refund. Manager told us no refunds no cancellations. I asked him if his family walked into rooms like we did would he want to stay there? He proceeded to tell me that he had to call his manger, but he won't answer the phone because it was after hours. He said we could wait on the car for 2 hours because it was going to take him that long to talk to his manager. The pics below are from room 202 and 331. I stopped payment and went to another Quality Inn. I will be going to talk to the health department tomorrow as well as the state and the BBB. I've been staying at this hotel for 5+ years and they have great quality service. The gentleman that's always working in the daytime name Kane or Laxman will definitely get you right any questions or concern just speak to them. The rooms are always clean towels are great, hot water, enough parking clean pool no problems. not to mention the housekeepers are also very welcoming and great. Any concerns the housekeepers will get to you on time even the maintenance man. read more

As soon as we approached the building, we noticed every single fire alarm had been pulled and disabled. The door to our room was dented from top to bottom on both the front and back of the door, showing that someone was possibly trying to break in at some point, or something else that was serious took place. The room smelt of smoke and there were cigarette burns all over the carpet. There was a smashed fly on the wall, and the bedding was completely filthy. Not sure if it had been changed after the last guest. There was old food stuck to the lamp base and the lamp shade itself was all smashed. They only had one other room available and it was just as dirty as the first. There is, honestly, so many more disgusting problems with the rooms, it's just too much to write about. I am not high maintenance with high expectations, but this is where I draw the line. I immediately left the hotel and stayed somewhere else. When I say this place is bad, I mean it's badddd. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. I had my 2 little kids with me so I couldn't trust it. I went back through the prior reviews, and most of the positive reviews were written by 'Anonymous" which makes me believe the property owner wrote them. First of all there was a bunch of cracks on the roof frame. Second of all the door was crooked and really hard to open. But all things aside it had a hot tub and a mini fridge. Would recommend for people who don't have alot of money. One last thing. There was cracks on the mirror and the frame of the mirror. read more

This was the WORST hotel I've ever been to. Once we arrived we realized that our room was A LOT smaller than we thought. Instantly we were hit with a very strong sweat odor. While walking around we realized the room itself was DIRTY. There was literally a piece of GUM stuck to the bed frame. Not to mention the lamp (near our beds) was covered in RUST.The floor was uneven and had burn marks on the carpet. When we opened up the fridge we saw the cabinet had stains all around it. (Almost like dried up milk). The fridge itself had water spilled inside. The bathroom was filled with stains. The tub,wall,floor,and even shampoo bottles were dirty with stains. Walls are also VERY THIN. We were able to hear music from other rooms as well as people arguing and slamming doors. Not a safe place. I checked in smoothly, no issues, but while looking for the room, a random man in a corner asked what room # we had (we were visibly looking for our room) and once he pointed us in the direction, he pulled out his wallet and gave us a room key FOR THE ROOM WE WERE STAYING IN. He said "hey, come here, that key wont work, this one works" This man did NOT work for the inn. We took the key and proceeded to the room where the door was already opened and being kept open with wet dirty towels. Upon further inspection, the bed has wet dirt spots which were definitely fresh. The room smelled bad, not clean, and had no towels. We grabbed our stuff and turned around, avoiding the earlier man and complained to the lady at the front. We told her about the guy and the state of the room. She was shocked and confirmed he didnt work there and had no idea who he was. We confirmed him on their cameras and she gave us another room on another floor. The new room was clean, SMELLED CLEAN and had towels. Nothing amiss in the new room. We were still pretty freaked out, but it was a long day and we needed to sleep. Safety is definitely a concern here. Hopefully, they called the police since she mentioned doing so. We saw the man wandering around the inn afterwards going to random doors so we we're pretty spooked. Staff was nice, no issues there. read more

I couldn't stay at the hotel after many different things happened. The worst was how loud the neighbors were and how you can hear everything through the thin walls. There were no towels, the bed shakes when someone passes by down the hall outside, no hot water, holes in the walls and smells like smoke in the non smoking rooms. I booked a room through priceline.com, I trusted what their website reflected, however upon checking into the room I was not satisfied with the level of cleanliness, and I asked for a refund which was denied. I was shown a different room and again I ask for a refund, so I could relocate to a place I felt comfortable in. Priceline tried to intervene and asked motel management twice to give me a refund however, management stuck with it's nonrefundable! I received an email back from another manager acknowledging the stains/"over sights" and they wrote the stains are coffee. Whatever the stains may or may not be...the point is that overall there is a lack of cleanliness in the rooms that I viewed. I was not comfortable staying on premises and should be entitled to a refund. This issue doesn't fall all on housekeeping, they need to have certain tools available to them to do their job properly. read more

I decided to book a room to go to a club out in LA in Downey with my wife to spend a quality night one on one. It had been a very long time since we had actually went out and did something for us and I have the worst experience that I've had not only with the quality in but also with choice hotels, choice hotels customer service was the worst there representative ended up booking my room at a great price telling me that it was a Jacuzzi room and it turned out not to be a Jacuzzi room when I called to add another night the day before. At this point, the policy stated that I have to call within 48 hours to cancel and they would not allow me to cancel even on an error from their associates, they would not go back to the recordings to listen to what the conversation I had with our representative that did the mistake, but they refused to. Now as far as the hotel in Downey quality Inn, I was dumbfounded by the atmosphere the location but most of all the atmosphere. They ran my credit card before I checked in after I called and asked if they would take cash deposit and they said yes, but they decided to run my credit card because I was running late to our reservations, but that they were required to run it and I asked why did they Mention that when I called and asked about the cash deposi. So that was very frustrating for me because it ended up freezing my money that I needed. Now there was a lot of addicts that would Park in the parking lot without any enforcement of clearing out the people and I know addicts because I seen them lighting up multiple times and different cars. Now the night before we checked out, we ended up finding out that we were being recorded from the opposite side of the room that we were staying in. There is a little camera that slid through the side of the mirror into our room and was able to record Our sexual activities, which is very, very private, We felt very violated and not only that I talk to the man that takes care of the ground and tells me that there was a male that was reported peeking through windows as well. I was completely blown away. They ruined my weekend and I will never stay here again or with quality Inn or use choice hotels. read more

Read the reviews before booking at this Inn. The lobby was updated and looked very nice. We had to sign a document indicating no smoking in the room. In the room it looked like cigarette burns in the carpet in front of the sink area. There were also orange stains in this same area on the carpet. The carpet is very old and does not look clean. Repairs had been done but they had big areas of caulk around items. There was 2 of us, we had two towels and 2 wash cloths in the room and they looked like cleaning rags and were super thin. One picture frame looked like it was very dirty or mold at the seam of the frame. We had a meeting we had to log into - about 7:30 pm we tried to connect to the internet and it just sat and spun for about 45 min. We called the service number that was provided to us and the lady said they were having a major issue with the internet and she said she would let us know the status. We never heard back from them and we never got internet that night. (We only stayed one night). We gave all of the info to the desk clerk when we checked out and there was a note that he read us that the customer service dept had entered into our room info about the internet issue. The clerk said he would have to speak to Kane, the manager and that he is the one that could compensate us for missing our meeting and no internet available. It has been a week and we have not heard from the manager. If I could give a -10 rating of this place I would. read more

The property is physically dirty and dated. The carpet was very dirty, with red and dark brown stains, and a section of it was patched and fraying around the patch's edges. The door had a gap letting light, sound, and cigarette smoke flow in. The toilet was crooked, and fixtures were loose and falling off the wall. It was disgusting to stay, but the bedsheets looked clean and smelled like bleach so we stuck it out for the night. I'd expect this from a $49/night motel. Not a $175/place hotel. 4 stars because the first room I was put in wasn't finished being cleaned.the replacement was much better. cute little jacuzzi room, the bed and the jet tub are within two feet of each other so it's the perfect room for romance. Staff is nice. It has a mini fridge and separate bathroom. Bed was big. Small but cozy breakfast bar. There is a slight ant problem so don't leave food out, but other than that it's a really clean place. I've stayed in this hotel at least 4 times, but this time I went for a romantic weekend with my boyfriend for memorial day weekend and had a bad experience! I pre-booked my room during the week so that everything would be set to go. Before I got there I called to ask what time I could check in and the man said he would let me check in at 2pm. I arrived at 2pm and he said "the room is not ready with the hot tub" I specially asked if MY room that I booked was ready and he said "oh no you booked the whirlpool not the jacuzzi". I told him on the picture it showed the hot tub and he said no that is the wrong one but we can upgrade you for $68 more. I told him he is overcharging me because it's not even that price online and he said "ok then book online" as I was booking online he said ok fine you pay $100 deposit and I can just book it for you the same price as online which was $20 less than what he was quoting me. He had me waiting to get an approval from his boss for like 30 mins then had the nerve to say "see & I didn't even charge you for early arrival... This means I will get a good review right?" ... WRONG! Worst experience renting a hotel... oh & this is the premium suite with a jacuzzi tub right? Why in the heck were there cigarette burns in the blanket!??? HOW GHETTO!!! Im not a person that likes to write reviews but I want to share my experience with this hotel. On this hotel people have been living here for a while now. The smell of the place is horrible people smoking outside of the premises. Cars coming in and out and driving with loud music. This hotel isn't for family due to to much drug activities going on. I left within the hour of booking and the man in the front desk said he was going to return the money due for me not staying and did the complete opposite they kept the keys and didn't he returned the keys the following day as if I stayed in the hotel that night. Decent place for the night. Parking is a little pain but place is clean. Room is pretty large so your not in some little tiny room! Microwave and fridge in room and the fridge is pretty quiet. Small coffee pot too. Room that we had needed a couple repairs...looks like they may have had a leak and needed to access the wall behind the bathroom..well the drywall was not fixed appropriately and is partly exposed. Ok I can deal with it then we look at the light socket by the bed and it is straight black. Looks like something shorted out in that socket. That's all that we found wrong. First of all let me just say that I read all the reviews for this hotel on TripAdvisor. I read them thoroughly and booked based on the overwhelmingly positive comments. However, my stay was a different story.The property is old. That in itself is not a problem. It's clear that the staff at Comfort Inn Downey have done a good job with upkeep. The problem arises when issues concerning plumbing, the elevator, and insects (yes, bugs) present themselves over and over again. First off, this "hotel" is located just off the very busy Firestone Blvd. On one hand it's great because of the convenience to shopping, all major highways, its proximity to LA. On the other hand it's a pain in the butt, because the traffic noise is almost unbearable at night -- it echoes throughout the courtyard. Things like traffic noise have never bothered me in the past, but the courtyard amplifies it. Also please note that this hotel is Salvation Army adjacent (can't see it in the hotel's online photos), and has outside access to the rooms. I felt like I was at a sleazy roadside motel every time I left the room. The positive is that the room itself was fine. It was clean, so I can't complain. The plumbing is very loud (remember it's an older property), so I was awakened every morning around 5:30 am when my neighbor took a shower/flushed the toilet/etc. Also, you can smell it when the person next door is smoking. The gap between my door and the floor was a little too wide...so wide that at night every bug in California flies in because they're attracted by the lights. This may have been a problem specific to the room I had, but it's a BIG problem. On the bright side, the staff is extremely nice and courteous. Everyone was professional and helpful. The staff there are doing an amazing job with making lemonade out of this giant lemon of a hotel. I'm not trying to be super negative, I just wanted to write my experience here truthfully so that another traveler isn't swayed by all the positive reviews like I was. read more

My husband and I are on a 2 week road trip and thought the jetted tub would be nice and relaxing, guess what....the jetted tub didn't work, we didn't have hot water in the bathroom sink and the cold water smelled so bad I wouldn't use the sink. We did not enjoy the constant traffic in and out at all hours and random people working on their cars in the parking lot while yelling back and forth at each other until 1:AM along with people setting in cars huffing helium balloons. We found food that was not ours left in the very dirty microwave.. The grounds outside are littered with trash, the "swimming pool" is the size of a small hot tub and is approximately 3 1/2 feet deep but no worries because you aren't allowed to use it anyway.. They say guest laundry is available but once again...nope "employees only". Their ad says it's not much to look at walking by, but the rooms are nice and redone... that's a bold face LIE...the condition of the rooms inside is not much better than the outside. Checked out without incident and then after a week I check my account they charged me $600!! Started blaming me for a TV being stolen and saying the security cameras were coiincentally cut. It was a bad experience I need to rest after driving for a long time. Got one of there rooms looked cleaned old bulding. Went to sleep around 3ish am woken up by noise of bag being moved. I remember I had a bag with snacks and did think much I said maybe and air draft of AC moved it but noise got a little louder at this point I wake my partner up he turns light on and see nothing. Turn light off again and tried to sleep when noise starts again my partner turns the light from his cellphone and see a rat pretty big. We turn the light on but cant find the rat we seen the poop and the hole in our bag around 4am we go to reception talk to Jose he said I'm only an employee never check our room or offered a solution. We decide to leave then on our way out spoke to Mario same answer only employee told me to call Monday to speak to Kane manager . This hotel is terrible stay far away..I booked a 2 queen room here they gave me double beds. I paid 160...for nothing and on top of that the Middle Eastern Indian guy at the front desk was super rude and unkind doesn't know how to treat customers. They charge your credit card 100 bucks besides the room and he says it's typically 300 that they charge in case you mess it up. He says it takes 10 days to come off the bank or credit card whichever you paid. He argued with me and says you are around with me..I mean seriously I'm the customer I don't know you policy and I booked online through another company that's didn't tell me about a miscellaneous charge yeah I get it back but would have been nice to know that before. The guy also made me sign another document and if I wouldn't sign it I couldn't go to the room, stating that I wouldn't hold them liable for anything that happens to me, anyone with me and my belongings including car..that's really odd..It's not right that I paid for queen beds and I'm getting double beds..I would Stay FAR AWAY from this hotel..Do yourself a favor you can find something else not far for less. I got stuck here cause I booked online don't use them and don't use Hotels.com for any bookings or you will be sorry. This is not a good hotel for families and not safe. I couldn't sleep all night, crazy people yelling all night, doors slamming, people on drugs I guess, and hotel management seems family owned and they don't know how to run or control the hotel. Car alarms going off all night seriously. I brought ear plugs cause you never know and I could hear all of this through my ear plugs. I want to add the hotel room looks OK, but like other reviewers stated stained bedding etc..its probably just stains they can't get put of the white linen, but besides that it's bad service and a bad area which isn't safe.
