On my reservation, I put in the request well in advance. A week prior to my visit, I had a chat conversation with Cathy, who informed me she would note my account and to call the morning I would be arriving. I did just what she told me to do and called the morning of. When I called the person said they saw my reservation and my room would be ready to make the trip easy for mom. When I arrived around 11:30, of course the room was not available; which was fine. I decided to just take her for lunch just to kill time. When I returned, a room was available; however, after all the calls and being proactive to get a room on the first floor. We were given a room a room on the third floor(310). This was absolutely a horrible walk for my mother; which made it not a good experience for mr. We were there to attend a birthday party. When we prepared for the party, we noticed we did not have an ironing board. It took two calls and 30 mins later to get the ironing board. The excuse was they had to look for an ironing board. This is not a good look for Hilton and as an Hilton Honors member; I am not use to this type of experience. Even in my profile, I have that I am traveling with someone with with someone with a disability and previous locations have accommodated me, especially since I also notify well in advance. The staff overall were very professional and the facility is well kept. Homewood needs to do better, especially when the guest was proactive months and days in advance to be accommodated.

Breakfast was not good compared to other hotels, and the overall environment was uncomfortable. There were issues with cleanliness and behavior in the dining area that made it unpleasant. Bedding was not that good too. There was also a lot of noise overnight, along with noticeable police activity, which made us question the safety of the area. We didn't spend much time at the hotel during the day, but overall, the experience--especially breakfast--was disappointing. Dante truly stood out, but the rest did not meet expectations.

Dante was fantastic at the desk - super helpful getting us checked-in and managing the other rooms for us, and getting extra towels and other items as needed. Other staffers were friendly in greetings but not as proactive to ask about helping with anything. Free breakfast for guests - the tortilla and spicy chicken was the best part (mini breakfast burrito/tacos) - the sausage and other American breakfast foods were only so-so (biscuits needed a lot of work as it wasn't buttery and flaky, gravy lacked flavor... had better at the Waffle House next door). Cereal, drinks, and waffles that you can make yourself. Wednesdays they also do a bit of a happy hour - finger snacks like cheese, fruit, and crackers + candy, with some wine and drinks. Parking is separate - shared with the other hotel next door, which is $10 a day (QR code to sign up). The gym,interestingly enough, is across the driveway between that and the lobby - so if you're on a cold day, and sweaty from a workout... seems bad to run outside and then back in - weird design. The restaurant/ bar downstairs serves a decent meal. The gym is small but efficient for the space. Not to mention pretty darn clean. The outdoors area is very peaceful for sitting and reading. The pool is a nice size as well. This location is right off the highway and there is plenty of parking as well that does not require a hike. Great spot for an extended stay!

There were four other people eating and after waiting more than five minutes, I decided to leave and as I getting up the hostess asked if she could take my order. Breakfast came out quite quickly and the grits were amazing and the bacon crisp; the scrambled eggs were hard (almost like a folded egg chopped up and not scrambled). They did not complement the grits. My hostess/server never came back to ask if I wanted any coffee refills, she definitely made sure I had the bill for a free breakfast and quickly walked away before I could ask for more coffee. When she came back to see if I "took care of the bill" she offered to top off my empty cup. The odd thing the server that was too busy to take my order doted over another couple that came in after me. She couldn't do enough to make sure they were happy. The grits and bacon were great; the service, not so great... As great as the grits and bacon was, they're not great enough to enjoy another "free"breakfast. I'll pay for breakfast tomorrow.

This was a good location to stay when visiting Charleston. It was less expensive than staying right in town. The drive to get to the city was all highway. Rush hour traffic was not bad. Plus, there was a mall along the way. The area offered many chain restaurants and gas stations. Overall, I was happy with it. We also stayed at this chain in Birmingham and the Orlando area. They are located in many cities and have points to earn free stays. This is a good way to travel, especially with a family.

We saw little evidence of regular cleaning, repairs, or maintenance. We stayed at the Hyatt in North Charleston with family members from August 14-16, 2026, in two rooms, including one reserved as an accessible room with a walk-in shower. We needed to remain in the area to assist an ill family member; otherwise, we likely would have checked out shortly after arriving. At check-in, I was asked for a card for an incidental hold. I explained that I had checked in online and a hold had already been placed on my card, but the clerk insisted there was none and processed another transaction. For two days after checkout, three separate holds remained on my card for two rooms. I then asked which room was accessible. The clerk began discussing room floors and bed types and appeared not to understand what "accessible" meant. After explaining that we needed an ADA-accessible room, he admitted he did not know and suggested that we inspect both rooms ourselves and return if neither was accessible. After waiting for a luggage cart, we headed toward our rooms. The same attendant saw my service dog and approached me about paying a pet deposit. I explained that the dog is a service animal and that this was noted in my reservation. Later, when my husband informed the desk which room we were occupying, the clerk insisted that I return and pay a pet fee because he could not find the notation in the reservation. I ultimately spoke with another staff member, who understood that the dog was a service animal under the ADA and resolved the issue. This should never have escalated to that point. The hotel appeared not to have been significantly renovated or repaired in many years. The décor was outdated, walls were peeling, carpets were stained, and we observed bugs in the bathrooms. Both rooms smelled strongly of mold, and everyone in our group experienced allergy problems during the stay. Television service also went out during a thunderstorm. During our two-night stay, we spent significant time waiting for what appeared to be the only operating elevator. It was extremely old, slow, and dirty. On the third floor, the door opened so slowly that we were unsure whether it fully opened. There was also no air conditioning in the third-floor hallway during a heatwave, although other floors appeared to have air conditioning. A plastic cup was left on the elevator floor during breakfast Saturday morning and was still there when we checked out Sunday, more than 24 hours later. We travel frequently and have stayed at hotels of many different service levels. Normally, we see housekeeping staff working throughout the day or employees cleaning common areas. During our stay, we saw no visible evidence of routine cleaning. There is a back door leading to a grassy area that initially appeared suitable for walking our service dog. One evening, however, I encountered two individuals in that area who immediately gathered a large black trash bag and quickly left when they heard the door open. This made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe using the area, particularly at night. We also observed individuals spending extended periods in the lobby and others entering and leaving the property in ways that made us uncomfortable. On more than one occasion, people appeared to be using the lobby as a place to remain for long periods, possibly overnight. Regardless of the circumstances, the atmosphere contributed significantly to our feeling that the property was not adequately monitored or secure. On the morning of our departure, we were unable to locate a luggage cart. Although the front desk claimed there were two carts, I never saw both available at the same time. One cart was occupied for hours with another guest's belongings. Because we were traveling with a service dog and had specifically requested accessible accommodations, carrying everything ourselves was particularly difficult. Two members of our group made four separate trips between the rooms and the car, using the slow elevator each time, before finally beginning our 12-hour drive home. The checkout process was a fitting end to an extremely disappointing stay. We left exhausted, frustrated, and relieved to be leaving. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that I have attempted to contact Hyatt through multiple channels since our stay and have received no response. I expect Hyatt to take these concerns seriously and respond regarding the condition of this property, the lack of proper staff training concerning accessibility and service animals, the apparent maintenance and cleanliness issues, and the overall safety concerns we experienced.

We look forward to staying here again when we are back down here.

On the weekends they have cookies at check-in and managers special which is wine beer and snacks during the week days. Each morning we had a hot breakfast. My son love the pancake dispenser. Unfortunately it was broken for a few days. The only negative things were it took several days to replace some lightbulbs and the bathroom paint was peeling. I would stay here again.
