Fabulous boutique hotel in the historic district of Charleston's French Quarter. The location makes exploring Charleston on foot convenient. The public spaces and rooms reflect a European style in a Southern setting. The French Quater Inn thought of every amenity possible. The breakfast was the perfect way to start our day, wine and cheese reception every afternoon, cookies and milk in the evening and sweet treats 24/7. Every person we encountered at the Inn were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I have traveled the world and The French Quarter Inn is at the top of my list.

I don't have a good picture of the hotel, but I have a street

I stayed at the suite last July, and in 2024 and 2023. The hotel is beautiful, with old-time designs but very modern rooms. The stairs are amazing, the staff are nice, and the food is good. 10/10

Just returned from two night stay at this wonderful hotel. We have stayed at many hotels in this country and others and have been on several cruise lines. We have never been treated as well as we were at the French Quarter. Every single person we came in contact with was friendly and asked if there was anything they could do to make our trip better. Breakfast was delicious with the choice of dining downstairs or in one's room (we opted for our room). In the evening, there was wine and a gourmet table of appetizers. Special treat was milk and warm cookies before bedtime. Can't say enough about our experience starting with the valets and including front desk, breakfast team and happy hour staff. Location is perfect for walking to town and the market. Beautiful, sparkling clean hotel and dedicated team members. (The emergency stairs even had wall murals) We can't wait to return.

What a wonderful hotel and so conveniently located! We had a lovely stay here. The place is clean and the staff is great! Everyone was very nice and helpful. The room was absolutely lovely. Just as we expected. Complimentary snacks and breakfast were far better than most places we have stayed. The building is on the older side, but that's expected in this part of town so we were not surprised. We would definitely come back.

The jasmine was in bloom. The fragrance is amazing on the way out and on the way in. Gorgeous. Heaven.

Yelp asks, "Do you recommended this place?" Yes. 100% I recommend a stay at the French Quarter Inn. This place is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! After a long day of travel and airport delays, we checked in sometime after 1 a.m. Our hist still greeted us with warm cookies and beautifully chilled glasses of champagne. Seeing the wear on our faces, she just offered us the bottle! Upon entering the room (we upgraded to the queen suite with a market view), it was like stepping into heaven. Another chilled bottle of champs and chocolate covered strawberries. The room was clean and just gorgeous! I couldn't wait to get into my slice of heaven. We filled out our cards for breakfast to be delivered versus going to the lobby, turned on our in-room sound machine, and almost immediately lulled to dreamland. In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely Nespresso while we prepared for the day and awaited our breakfast. It was beautifully presented, on-time, and tasty. The hotel is even more beautiful in the sunlight as it is at night. We had the option to take complimentary bikes, but we instead wandered around the beautiful city in foot. We returned after a day of sightseeing, eating (Fleet Landing), and shopping (on Market and King Streets) just in time for the evening wine and cheese reception. Again, another beautiful presentation. The bartender/mixologist did an amazing job! We enjoyed our evening wine and a wonderful assortment on the beautiful patio. We enjoyed dinner out at Church & Union, listened to like music coming from the market and returned for fresh, warm cookies and sherry. On return to our suite, we were greeted by turn-down, and chocolates, as well as our chosen pillows from the Pillow Concierge (MUST do!). I will be preaching a stay at FQ Inn, and it will be a regular destination for me. Southern hospitality at its utmost finest from start to finish. It's better than coming home!

Beautiful and luxurious place to stay. Hospitality in the South is alive and well at this place. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet and after hours wine and cheese are complimentary regardless of whether you indulge in the lobby are or have it delivered to your room. Can't say enough about this wonderful place.

This was our first time in Charleston to celebrate our anniversary and New Years 2021. I am pleasantly surprised by the amenities and hospitality of this quaint hotel. I travel a lot and it is my hobby to stay at nice hotels but this place is probably my favorite hotel thus far. At first, I was nervous about staying at a boutique hotel rather than a non chain hotel such as the Marriott. When you check in, the front desk makes it a point to remember your name and will make dinner reservations at local restuarants if you haven't planned your evening. There are always different types of candy at the front desk, individually wrapped due to Covid. In our room, there was complimentary bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Every evening, there is complimentary wine and cheese night from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Due to covid, there are individually wrapped plates of cheese and meat rather than a common charcuterie board. Every evening, there is complimentary milk and cookies from 8:30 PM to 10 PM. Plus port wine. The cookies are surprisingly good, better than Byrd cookies down the street. Every night, you fill out a card and put it outside your door for complimentary breakfast. This part was underwhelming since the pastries were dry. But I really can't complain given it's free. The hotel itself is quaint and in the heart of downtown near all the restaurants and shops. It is 3 floors with outdoor balconies to sit outside and eat. Bathroom is large with good water pressure and a light up makeup mirror. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable. I wish they had a chaise or couch with a bar cart rather than a small table with 2 uncomfortable chairs.. Valet parking is $34 per night. There is no resort fee. Overall I highly recommend this hotel when you visit Charleston. We will be back next time.

If you are going to stay in Charleston proper this place is well-worth the splurge. It's quite central to everything, yet feels out of the way (it's literally right next to the Charleston City Market but you would never know it while at the hotel). No need for a car if you are staying here, we took Uber (or Lyft) everywhere we couldn't walk to (which wasn't a whole lot) including to and from the airport. In addition to a great location there is a relaxing touch of class to everything about it. Front desk and concierge service is top-notch, as is housekeeping. Yes they have housekeeping twice a day, and you don't even need to ask! One is to "turn down" your sheets in the late afternoon, but they also leave a hand-written weather report for the next day and chocolates, nice touch. Our room was a good size (for two) and well-appointed (there is a "pillow menu"). Floors are not too big which makes for a quieter environment. Even though the hotel is only about 20 years old it feels older due to the well-designed interior which has a lot of nice, warm materials and feels intimate. Not much in the way of views or anything to admire about the exterior of the building, but hey you are in the middle of historic Charleston and should be looking and walking around! A comfy, private retreat in the middle of a busy, historic city.

Outstanding in every way possible! From the time you check in until the time you check out, the French Quarter Inn does not disappoint. Their complimentary breakfast was an upgrade from the traditional Continental offerings of other hotels. Here you'll find wholesome grains, baked goods, fruit, a build your own granola buffet bar and an array of drinks. The room was large and stately like something you'd find in an old Charleston mansion. Housekeeping left the TV on and so my ears were filled with classical Christmas music as I entered. The bed is large, comfortable, and inviting with 5 down pillows all to myself. The staff is polite, engaging, and more than accommodating. I love everything about this hotel and we'll make a special trip back to Charleston to stay here again.

Front desk staff were absolutely snobbish except maybe one or two. One was leaning against the table while I was asking questions. lol is this Gen Z staff? Do you not know how to stand up straight? There was another customer who was frustrated by the front desk service. This customer mentioned how staff told her "you are making me work". What kind of professionalism is this? Do they not get proper training? We stayed three nights and house keeping missed to clean our room all three times !!! This happened to other customers too! If any of the manager will read my comment, please make sure to train your front desk staff properly. No workers should be twirling their hairs and lean on the table during their duty hours. There were a lots of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. They boast about their butler service, which is pretty unique in the United States (akin to the resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean). We only stayed one night and did not make the most out of it. Our butler was very pleasant and offered detailed recommendations regarding restaurants in the area. The staff is welcoming and friendly. We arrived early and had to wait a few hours until our room was ready. That was a slight nuisance as it was a cold and rainy October weekend in Charleston. Luckily they had plenty of umbrellas for us to use. The welcome cocktails were a nice touch when we were finally able to check-in. Other nice touches include the complimentary drinks, candies and snacks that were already waiting in the room. The turndown service also included chocolate and a small sweet alcoholic drink / shot. Lastly, the included room service breakfast in the morning elevates the stay. A lot of good things. However, I thought the rooms themselves were just okay and a bit dated. Our friends stayed at a boutique hotel with vaulted ceilings and its own kitchenette for less money. Another disappointment was that we booked a room with a small outdoor courtyard, but were given a regular room. Given the weather, we probably wouldn't have used the outdoor space at all, but it would be good to get what you paid for. Overall very good service and location. They have a nice bar by the lobby that we did not make use of. The rooms themselves are just okay and on the small size. I would probably stay somewhere else next time I visit Charleston, even though I have nothing bad to say about The Spectator. Maybe my expectations were too high with a 4.8 / 5 average Yelp score. I just think there's better value elsewhere.

You're only as strong as your weakest link…read more I've stayed in many hotels for both work and personal travel. The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.
