The hotel was filthy! Driving in, the hotel looked deserted and that should have been a clue as to what could be expected. Breakfast was a joke: no forks, enough waffle mix left to make two waffles but only one syrup, strawberry yogurt had a green color in it. Sparse selection. After driving several hours, we stopped to rest before continuing our trip the next day. We were greeted at the front desk by a very helpful young lady who completed our registration and provided keys to a handicap accessible room which was located directly off the front lobby. The room had been completely renovated, linens were sparkling white, and everything in the room worked as promised. A coffee, fruit and pastry bar was available the next morning with a full breakfast available providing you submitted your menu items the evening before. Mr. Patel handled our check-out process with extreme efficiency and pleasantness. If you are traveling to or through the Scottsburg area, please do not consider any other hotel in the area. Stayed here for one night after driving for 8 hrs and needed to get some rest and a hotel who accepts "Large Breed Dog". They accepted our large breed dog to stay in our room for the night for an extra fee of $10 (which I think is nothing btw), and slept comfortably. Our room was clean, bed was clean and it appeared that the room was recently renovated. Hey, for a quick one night stay, I wouldn't mind staying here again. All we needed was some rest for the continuation of our 14hr drive to Wisconsin. read more

Dirtiest motel I have ever stayed in. I called every motel within an hour of here, no one had any rooms left. I stayed because I was exhausted, but was only able to sleep a couple of hours. Some of the gross things I saw were: a used tampon applicator behind the ice machine, molted bed bug skin on the mattress, and feces on the side of the toilet. Do not stay here. Awful experience. When you pull up and see most of the outside lights out and parking lot mostly empty, trust your instincts and go on to the next stop. Or sleep in you car - you'll wish you did. The room was damp and musty. It smelled of a mixture of mold, wet dog, cigarette smoke and urine. We asked for another room but the other room was the same. There was mold on the a/c and the window ledge. The bathroom was filthy, the shower tile hadn't been cleaned and the towels looked dirty. It appeared as though they have remodeled, but the work was done by an amateur. I'd guess the owner is doing the work himself. The hotel has seen better days, the only way it's going to be saved is to be completely gutted, or demolished. Hated to even give it one star. read more

The potential to be 3/4 stars is there, but in my experience, wasn't quite there yet. There seem to be many recent upgrades to the hotel and the rooms which look nice, but when you look a little closer, some work is still needed. Free continental breakfast was ok, but the coffee was pretty terrible. Bed was clean and comfortable, but bathroom needed a little more attention and the water temperature only got to slightly above lukewarm in the shower. The staff were extremely hardworking and polite, but the understaffing at check-in and check-out put an obvious strain on them as both times the line was long and management left them without things like change or a working printer (definitely needed more staff or a manager to be on duty when the hotel is sold out). Overall I'd say an ok place to sleep for the night when driving through town but don't expect too much. read more

Stayed here 1 night July 2016. -Family-run hotel, polite staff -priced a bit high -appealing decor -free wifi worked well -free bfast adequate -requested non-smoking room. Was told all rooms state-wide are nonsmoking, HOWEVER, this must be a new law. Our room was previously smoking bc it stank STRONGLY of cigarettes. Very obvious as soon as door opened. Carpet needs replacing to get rid of smell. -no outlets in room for phone charging! I don't know if you believe in ghosts, but this place will haunt you. PERFECT for anyone who loves nature- I found bugs on the door frame, window, bathroom, and a coworker found a few on his bed! The housekeeping staff could use some training on how to clean a little better... smells a little musty and a bit like Piss . Seems like it has recently been remodeled , to bad they don't take better care of the place. Grass around 8" high and the normal inconsiderate fucks that have to be loud in hallways and rooms and let the doors slam but when the world is 80% full of morons what can you expect. read more

The room was clean. Staff was very friendly. The wifi is very poor and the soda and snack machines were out of order and not stocked. The bar that was in the lobby area was closed down and was one of the reason for me to stay here. There are cheaper hotels in the area. read more

Do not give these people your money!!! I've never dealt with people so unfriendly, rude and unhelpful. They promise you one thing and then the manager calls you a liar when the promise doesn't happen. Then they back pedal because they got proved wrong. Save your money and stay somewhere else where management treats you like a customer and not a door mat. On our trip to the hotel, our car was hit, nearly totaled and completely disabled. I called the front desk to cancel our reservation, because we were then stuck on a Friday night, hours from home and hours from the hotel and all the car rental places were closed. They were fully booked that weekend because of the Kentucky Derby, so I called to cancel out of courtesy so someone else could take the room, the hotel could still profit, etc. When I called I was told by a woman at the front desk that due to our circumstances, she would be happy to refund the $650 we paid up front to reserve the room for the weekend since it would be reserved by someone else anyway. Weeks went by, and no refund. I called to follow up and talked to the manager who called me a liar, said they never do refunds, regardless of situation, and his staff would never tell a guest that they would issue a refund. Obviously he didn't believe me, so I encouraged him to ask his employee. He did so and called back later in the day, the employee admitted to the manager that she said she promised the refund, the manager admitted that she had said it, and still - he was completely unwilling to give me the refund as promised. He wouldn't even meet me halfway and refund half of it. read more

DO NOT stay here! I got BED BUG bites after staying here! The place is filthy. The shower had a bath mat in it that was filled with mold and mildew. The sheets were supposed to be white and were shades of yellow and brown. The light switch appeared to have blood on it. I can't believe this place is even open for business. read more

Renovations are underway and much needed. Outside doors wouldn't open and we're not fixed in the 3 days we were there. Other outside doors were unlocked 24 7 not much comfort there. Carpets are old and filthy. Even older carpets can be cleaned until replaced. No microwave in the rooms and premium price over the weekend. The front desk clerks were eating while on duty and not just an apple full meals. One of the front desk clerks has some serious issues I will be writing separately to thier corporate headquaters. read more

We really wanted to like this hotel because they are pet-friendly and we sometimes travel with our pets. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back here. There are lots of cosmetic issues (cracks and holes in the walls, etc) and cleanliness issues (dirt along the baseboards, hairs in the bathrooms, etc). But the deal-breaker for us was that my son found two bedbugs crawling on him overnight. We caught one but the other got away. When we showed it to the person at the desk at 2AM, he put us in another room but I was surprised that I was still charged the full rate when I checked out the next morning. No matter how tired you are, keep driving past this one. read more

I stayed on this hotel on April 14, big mistake. First I walked in and they charged me a deposit. Never had one before from the Choice Hotel chain, and I'm a member of their program. They know how to treat regular customers, so stay away from Choice Hotels. I went to my room, one light switch was not working and the toilet almost overflowed when flushed. So I asked for another room and was switched, it was dark because one of the lights was not working (switched bulbs and that was not the problem), rooms were dirty, laminate coming off the doors and they were stained. The website also said there were microwaves and refrigerators in the room, I was in two of them and neither had them. This hotel is rundown with a coat of new paint and new sinks, but it is still a dump, still at a cut-rate level and I not stay here again, I will not be staying at Choice Hotels again if I can help it because they said each one is individually owned, so they have no standards and will not enforce them. The Wi-Fi cuts in and out and is not reliable for work purposes. read more
