It's a room with a view of some of the worst parking I've had the misfortune of seeing recently: a…read morevariety of 4x4s and cheese-boxes parked with little attention to the lines. Room is unremarkable in every way but so is the price. The smell of cheap cigarettes hung in the room from when the door was open but otherwise there's​ no bad smells. Sheets and pillow cases look clean as do the blankets and spreads but the floor tells a different story: a story replete with glitter. On the plus side I didn't notice any critters in the room and there's good water pressure in the shower. The towels and cloths are getting thin and should have been replaced with the carpeting a while ago, and there's an odd stain on the front edge of the swivel chair, not sure I care to know what happened.

No stress, no circling, no drama. The grounds are impressively well-kept. I counted three or four staff members actively tending to the place--grass being cut here, hedges trimmed there, a trash can getting emptied like it owed someone money. There's a clear, ongoing effort to keep things tidy, and it shows. Dog owners will appreciate the nicely shaded walking area. When we passed through, a couple was out enjoying the weather with their Shelties, living their best roadside life. There are also a few picnic tables for those who prefer to turn a pit stop into a proper pause. Now, the building itself... let's just say it's rocking a bit of a "vintage charm." From the outside, it feels dated compared to some of the more modern rest areas along I-65. Inside, it's clean--but again, definitely due for a facelift. There's a noticeable disinfectant aroma in the air. Whether that's reassuring or a little aggressive depends on your perspective, but hey--at least you know they're trying. A freshly mopped floor (thoughtfully cordoned off) confirmed that cleanliness is taken seriously. The men's and women's facilities are located on opposite sides, each with what appears to be two sections. In the men's room, the faucets are... adventurous. Instead of a smooth stream, you get a dozen tiny jets firing off like a synchronized water show. Functional? Yes. Elegant? Not so much. If you're feeling snacky, there are several surprisingly well-stocked vending machines--perfect for a quick grab, assuming you're okay with highway pricing doing its thing. At the end of the day, this rest area fulfills its core mission: a reliable, clean stop when nature calls. It's not going to win any design awards, but it gets the job done. A little modernization would go a long way--but in the meantime, it's a solid pit stop when you need it most.
