To Whom It May Concern: Most people after they purchase a piece of art are content to go to a place like Bed Bath & Beyond ,get themselves a frame kit for 29.95/39.95 49.95, put it together, and voila, they are done. Me, I love my art. Having art around, makes me happy. From my perspective, framing is an art. The framer, depending upon his skills, can make or break an art piece. A good framer not only needs to understand and appreciate art, he also needs to have an insight into what you see as you look at the piece. With that being said, the framer then needs to be able to translate what he has extracted from your 'vision' and then put together the "right" frame and the "right" matting that will most draw out what you want to capture. Because the aforementioned process is so important, and so complicated, it was particularly difficult to reconcile that the gentleman who had done my framing for many years, decided to close up his business. . Many months elapsed before I could bring myself to even look for a framer. Finally, my wife said she found this place in the Plainview Industrial Complex called Quality Framing, that we might take a look at. We made an appointment with the proprietor, Joe, so we would could show him a couple of our pieces and see what he was like to work him. Joe was great to talk to. He listened carefully to what we had to say. He presented us with a wide selection of frames and mats so we could decide what looked best. And, most importantly, he patiently facilitated our decision- making so that when we were done we felt that we got everything exactly 'right'. The name Quality Picture Framing definitely suits this business perfectly. I bought a piece of artwork elsewhere that had a noticeable scratch when I brought it home. After trying to fix it with a product from a hardware store or an art supply store, I googled best local framing businesses. Quality was at the top of the group. I went there and met the owner Joe. He was terrific. He repaired the scratch almost instantly and to my amazement he did a perfect job. He even put a hanging wire on the frame and threw in the hardware -- all for free. I am still shaking from my experience at Quality Picture Framing, and this is the next day! . After having them frame a picture for me I went back with a jersey. They did tell me a month but said they may have it sooner. After 2 weeks I called to check in. Joe the owner said he'd call me back. A few days later I called back and once again joe told me he'd call me back. After 3 weeks of them having my Jersey and no call back I called again. I jokingly asked if he lost my jersey because he never calls back. He then proceeded to ball me out. I mean awful choice of words spewed at me I really thought he was joking. He must have been having an awful day (this was 10:30am) but there is never, ever an excuse to treat anyone, especially a customer, this way! I actually thought he was kidding with me when he was berating me because it was so surreal. It wasn't until he told me he didn't want my business and to pick up my jersey that i knew he was serious. Avoid this shop at all costs unless you'd like to be bullied by the owner into believing his work is "quality." I took my most meaningful document to him to get framed and the day my husband and I went in there, he did a hard sell saying the price would only be offered if we paid cash and agreed to leave it that day. That should have been the first warning sign. My husband didn't want to go anywhere else, so I agreed against my better judgement. Then after I picked it up, I noticed on the way home, there was a bubble in the matting and pieces were sticking up. When I went back and pointed them out, Joe, the owner, proceeded to blame it on the artwork, not his work. He said he would do it again but would charge me additional labor. When I tried to tell him I had already exceeded my budget and asked if he would please try to fix it, he screamed at me, talked over me and refused to do a thing. He was referred to me by my mom who had received his name from someone in a Facebook group, so I called her from the shop to tell her what was going on because I had never experienced such poor customer service. He continued to do the same to her over the phone when she was trying to reason with him. I was the only one in the shop so I suppose he felt he could do this. He already had my money so there was no incentive in doing right by me. I left and immediately went to another shop closeby and asked their thoughts. They confirmed it was mounted incorrectly. The owner at the other shop was incredibly understanding about how important the document was and said he would take it apart and see what he could do. When I picked it up, it was beautiful. He explained in detail what "quality" should have done which they didn't. I am extremely upset and angry I paid Joe in full and he refused to make it right. The other place didn't charge me a penny to fix it. I'll be going there from now on and referring all of my family and friends. read more

Went to Quality Framing on a recommendation from a friend. When I arrived on a sunday there was a sign on the door that said closed and to call for an appointment. I called the number while I was still parked infront of the store and Joe answered right away. When I told him that I was at his store he told me to wait there and that he would be right over. 5 minutes later he arrived and was a very nice guy. I showed him a limited edition poster that I wanted to have framed for my son to hang in his college dorm room. Joe showed me a couple of different frames and suggested that he use plexiglass in lieu of regular glass since it was going in a dorm. I had a bizarro experience at "Quality" Picture Framing yesterday. I went there on the recommendation of people on a fb page a week ago. Joe wasn't there so I worked with a woman (I do not recall her name). She was extremely helpful in selecting frames for a valuable family picture and a drawing my son made in art. I told her I needed them by 3/5 (2 weeks away). She said there shouldn't be a problem, that someone would call if there were any issues. On Wednesday, I received a voicemail saying that they called in the order that day and the wood for the frame was backordered (they had the work for 6 days by that point). After back and forth nonsense, I informed her that I would pick up my stuff the next day. Joe was there when I got there. I told him who I was and he got the 2 things (not even putting them in any sort of protective container like I had brought them in). He asked me how I heard about the place and I told him (a town fb page). I said that he received a lot of great reviews but unfortunately I would not be giving him one. He talked me into giving him another chance. I handed over the pieces. I walked out, got into my car and was about to drive away when he comes running out the door with my things. He said, "Here. You're going to post something negative on facebook anyway" and tossed the stuff at me. I was like, "I just gave it back to you in good faith". I was thinking, "That's how you treat people's valuable objects?" This has got to be the most bizarre thing that has ever happened to me in any business. I have no choice but to give it one star.
