I wish there were 6 stars. First off, a beautiful, dopey, white fluff monster greets you. (Mateo the dog.) When you have lived all over, traveled all over, and gotten massages all over, you literally know if someone is good (or bad or great.) this was great. Beyond great. I was very very tense so the first 20 minutes was a bit of a beat up since I requested a strong, deep tissue massage. But then it happened. I actually felt like I left my body. She seemed to yank my soul out of my body, sat it in the corner, and fixed my tired, aching back, shoulders, next, arms and legs. It was like I could hear her when she spoke, and I could feel her intense work, but I was in a suspended state. When it was time to turn on my back (last 15 mins of 90 min massage) I realized all my stress and anxiety was gone, I was back in my body and clear and present, and totally refreshed. She has this technique switching between the perfect amount of pain and relaxation. And probably most importantly she is exceptionally knowledgeable in her craft. I am by no means a massage person. The last massage I got was two years ago and was so painful I never went back but... there are consequences of sitting in front of a computer all day so after thoroughly exploring my Jersey City options, I decided to go to Betsy for a 90 minute deep-tissue massage. Betsy has turned me into a massage person. And that isn't a simple feat. After years of hunching over a desk, my shoulders were incredibly tight. She knew which areas to work on, was a wonderful conversationalist, and applied just enough oil. She also did multiple rounds of hot towel and stone treatments, which were heavenly. It has been YEARS since my shoulders and back felt so relaxed. This experience has completely upended any negative massage experience I've had in the past. To top it all off, Betsy occasionally brings her adorable dog Mateo in with her. He is delightfully sweet and is very good during the massage. I went to quantum vita yesterday for a massage, i had back tightness/pain. I wasnt expecting the amount of work and knowledge that went into my massage. Very well behaved and super loveable. Once I arrived, we chatted about what would work best for me. She asked about my trouble zones and how much pressure I wanted. I whole heartily agree with all the positive reviews here. Betsy is straight forward in both her mannerism and technique. Yes she is very loquacious but I needed her to distract me while she worked hard on getting my body back in shape after 6 weeks of breastfeeding 10 times a day. I chose a deep tissue/postnatal fully willing to be sore the next day knowing that it is better for me in the long run. If next time I need a more relaxing massage, I will simply let her know. It was easy to book an appointment, I called her and she texted me back, I managed to book the appointment even with screaming newborn demanding every ounce of my attention. As of May 2015, the PNC bank downstairs where her office is located is still undergoing heavy construction work, but since she had given me the heads up I found the entrance with little effort. Her facilities are clean and comfortable. She offered me water before and after massage which I happily accepted on both occasions. Went for my first two-hour massage, birthday treat, and it was fabulous. Got the Swedish deep tissue and reflexology which were so needed - last massage was in May 2014. Betsy, owner, is very knowledgeable and friendly. She is a bit of a talker but we had a lot of similarities so it didn't feel like I had to continue conversation unwillingly. She uses natural oils that she makes herself. Only thing i didn't like was the roughness. Might ask to be softer next time. Along with Betsy are two other massage therapists, one is a Chinese doctor and the other is a 6' 5" African Hobokenite. They each have different work schedules.It sounds like they've had a long-standing relationship and business. The location is a little confusing but memorable, won't ever mix it up with Asian Bodyworks again. Remember its between Stella pizzeria and where Hard Grove Cafe used to be - corner of Christopher Columbus & Grove Street. Its on the second floor, first door on the right. Betsy mentioned she does home visits to most places in the tri-state area if requested so keep that in mind. The prices vary depending on your timing and type of work (see website for details). But Betsy is really understanding. She was about 20-25mins late for my appt because she was looking for a parking space. But she did tell me that I could come back for a complimentary 30-40min massage to make up for it. The actual masssage was good, but I was a bit sore a few days after. I started going to Betsey earlier in the year. I went to her b/c I needed a targeted massage and I wanted to be able to communicate with my masseuse. I'd gone to other massage establishments in the area, but while good, there was a language barrier and I found that they'd solely focus on giving me a really good back rub, which is great, but not always what I need or want to pay for. Each time I've gone to QV, Betsey's listened to my needs and focused on that area. Last time I went she even extended my massage (at no add'tl cost) b/c my right leg needed more attention. Her firm touch is exactly what I needed. Betsey is amazingly talented and I would recommend her services in a second. One thing to note. QV was at 317 Grove, but the new landlord evicted all of the tenants including Betsey, so she'll be practicing out of a space by St Peters College and will be open to house calls. read more

The minute Betsy started massaging me I knew she knew what she was doing. I've been getting massages for MANY years and I could tell she knew and understood the human anatomy. I have back issues and build tension quickly, first the neck, the the shoulders and then throughout the mid back - to the point where it can get stiff and even spasm. Her initial warm up had already made my body relaxed and flexible and she started going to work. I felt so appreciative that she truly understood and knew how to manipulate the fascia and muscles. I've been to masseuses who don't understand how the muscles work or how to break the tension apart. They either avoid the area or only work one area disregarding other connected parts. Betsy was thorough. I'm definitely going for another visit. I was a little sore the next day but that always happens with a good massage. Just drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins.
