So many wonderful features here: -free parking in two lots (that would NEVER happen in Vancouver) -a walk around the pond involves a flat trail, one foot bridge, and one stretch of boardwalk through a marshy patch -you never know what wild birds you might see and/or hear here (we saw a heron in the pond, and I heard the call of loons! For real!) -there is a lovely canopy of trees over the walking trail (which was very welcome, on the hot day I visited), and plenty of benches to relax along the way -there are areas of grassy meadow lands on small hills in areas by the walking trail, perfect for a picnic or throwing a frisbee on a nice day -my Toronto friend says sometimes she's seen people fishing in the pond! Just remember to wear some bug repellent because man are there a lot of mosquitoes, i got bit like crazy. If you continue along the path past the deck you'll find yourself at a trail that winds around into a mini forest. It has nice log's you can sit down and take a break on or benches available as well. I did not see any duck poop on the trail or deck so that problem must've been fixed. Glad they listened! Will definitely come back again for a nice stroll.

The water park is really lackluster, no one uses it. The gazebo is regularly occupied in the morning by Asian grannies doing tai chi. A sight to behold. The south has a baseball field, a larger playground, a skatepark, a basketball court, two more tennis courts, and another soccer field. This half is often bustling with activity, especially in the summer. The place looks right proper and is well-maintained by the staff. The pond is a nice touch that is surrounded by the verdant fields. If you haven't come to this place for a little walk, give it a try. Just look out for the geese.

But that doesn't mean you can't have a great time, its the people you're with that makes anything fun!

The parking lot here isn't huge so it can get busy but if you are able to find parking in one of the nearby streets and stroll down, you are in for a real treat. There is always wild life to observe and pedestrian friendly path that will make you want to keep on walking! A bridge at the end of the parking lot will take you over to the Pickering side where the waterfront trail continues well into the Durham region with expansive waterview most of the way. Definitely a great place to visit for some quiet time!

The trail is somewhat circular, and can vary from 2-3 km depending on where you walk. The trails are pretty easy and flat. As to why it is called "Red Park", the only thing I can think of is that they hold the annual Strawberry Festival there, during the Canada Day long weekend. I was at that festival in 2022. The neighbouring streets were closed each time I've been there, but I've only been there twice, so don't take my work for it. There is no free WiFi. It is not wheelchair accessible.
