We toured one of Quartermaster Properties' homes and were excited to apply. Throughout the application process, we responded immediately to every request for additional documentation. Over the course of nearly two weeks, we were asked for multiple rounds of documents, including additional income verification and other supporting paperwork, which led us to believe our application was still under active consideration. After nearly two weeks of waiting and repeatedly providing everything requested, we were informed that the home had been given to "more qualified applicants." While I understand not every application will be approved, the communication and timeline were disappointing. If another applicant was ultimately selected, I believe applicants deserve a more timely decision instead of being kept in limbo while continuing to submit additional documentation. I do appreciate that the application fees were refunded and that the property manager communicated with us throughout the process. However, the overall experience with the approval process left us frustrated and disappointed. Update: The morning after posting this review, I discovered that the same property is still listed as available for an August 1, 2026 move-in and is still actively scheduling tours. This has left me even more confused about how our application was handled. We were told our application was not selected because "more qualified applicants" had been chosen, yet the home continues to be advertised as available. I understand listings can change, but from an applicant's perspective, this only adds to the lack of transparency we experienced throughout the process. read more

MaryAnne & Jason are unprofessional in every way. The lease agreement as gray areas that they will spin to their advantage & justify their unprofessional behavior. They do not return calls, emails, or written letters, if and when they do it filled with lots of "fluff" to make you think you are wrong and they are justified. They are double dipping on my security deposit with no just cause. I have had 3 different legal counsel advise me they are unethical and in the wrong. However, I can not get my money with out retaining an attorney. This is bullying at its finest. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. read more

This property management was a nightmare for us. They breached our privacy, cancelled our contract and did not return our calls or answer our questions when we needed them. Beware! They took our money and changed their rules. We felt they were lazy, overpromised and underdelivered. read more

After doing some research of PMs for a recently acquired rental property, I decided to go with QP instead of a big national impersonal type franchise. Jason Shamis and the staff gave me a great comfort level and it has only gotten better since. Trying to encourage them to PM some of my other rentals outside their service are too. read more

I see all these great things about this company and yes I felt that way at first. Maryann is a new property manager to my location. However upon first speaking with her things were great. Now that the lease has been put together and I have questions, and she will not speak with me over the phone nor will she answer my questions I have in reference to to new lease. I'm confused because I thought we hit it off when we met. I just want to fix this just we can move forward for the next six months. I think she is a sweet person I just need to be able to communicate like the other people say that she had great communication with them. Jason Shamis has gone above and beyond taking care of my property! I live in the Seattle area and have a property in Charleston SC. You can imagine the stress of being so far away and not having a reliable contact in the area! I chose Quartermaster Properties after doing some research and reading reviews. I couldn't be more happy! Jason answers, or quickly returns, every call. He reassured me that he would prepare my property for rental quickly. That's exactly what happened. He had it cleaned, painted and made beautiful again, all at a fantastic price. Jason even went to the hardware store himself and found new, inexpensive lighting fixtures to replace the existing, which he installed himself! He was hands on, which was a concern when interviewing larger companies. I felt like I would get caught up and lost in a bigger a company. He is a hands on owner with handyman skills and not above using them! He clearly knows what he's doing and executed every task at hand, from posting my add, screening renters, bargaining with maintenance people for a great bid (my favorite!) and after the unit was vacant for a month due to the last ineffective manager, he got it rented in 8 days! From paint, pictures to finish! Amazing, is all I can say! He has a professional staff and great system in place to track billing and deposits. His rate was great, comparable or better than others. But choosing a smaller company I knew would work out in my favor. He prides himself on doing, as if it were his own property, what he would do as the owner.
