I asked the young man behind the counter, what steaks had the best marbling that day. He suggested the strip loins / NY Strip. This is not a cut I usually buy, but they did look GOOD. So I picked out a couple, and also a couple tenderloins, because they looked like they had a bit of marbling. Hubby grilled them up the next day and we were amazed at the tenderness and flavour of all the steaks but especially the NY Strips. Absolutely the best steak we have ever had at home. In fact, better than most steaks we have had at restaurants! I have always been a fan of small businesses, and Happy Mango has the heart, quality and customer service that makes for loyal customers. Even though it's a 30 minute drive, no question, I will be making the drive to Happy Mango any time we want steak, and the bonus is we get roti for lunch that day! This year's meaty samplings included whole, marinated chicken; beef kebabs; pork tenderloin; jumbo tiger shrimp; sea scallops; beef burgers; lamb sliders; and prime beef steaks. The quality of meat here is blow-your-mind amazing, and most of it is cut, filleted, or ground right before your eyes. You can pre-order rarer meats, too, like bison, duck, elk, and rabbit. Also available are a selection of amazingly delicious cheeses including real smoked cheddar and black truffled goat. As well as gourmet crackers, chips, dips, and spreads. Not to mention tidbits like addictive Milford Bay smoked trout, brie wheels, charcuterie, and homemade frozen cookie dough to take back to the cottage. Insane. Normally we buy the organic honey from Costco, which is mix of honey from different countries. This time we decided to buy local honey and I searched few local bee farms in GTA. I wanted to call and inquire before going. I called couple of places, no answer. Then I called Humbervalley honey, a well spoken gentleman answered the call. I inquired about the honey they sell. He said they sell Wildflower Honey and it is $13 for a 1 kg jar. Plus he said he is actually extracting a new batch. I decided to give it a try, so I went there and bought 2 jars. 1 for us and 1 for my fellow Yelper Karandeep. The transaction was fast and safe. He handed me nicely packed 2 jars while sitting in the car. He said they will be extracting honey till September if I need more for winter. It's been couple of weeks now and I love this honey. It is not too sweet( probably doesn't have added sugar). I will definitely recommend this place.
