We went to this pool specifically for the built-in steps to enter it. For people with minor mobility issues, it makes it possible to get in and out of the pool without using the pool lift. There's a parking lot next door, but street parking also. The attendant at the desk was nice and helpful. I also like that they have lockers you can use with your own lock. read more

I swim laps at the QA Pool several times per week. It's a great pool for the price of a swim. Staff are very professional and friendly. Wish they had lap swim hours in the morning (not counting the early swim, 6 - 7:30 am) but I know it's a city pool and other pool activities compete for use. I've tried the private pools at 24 hour fitness downtown and LA Fitness. Both have drawbacks. Parking and access at 24-hour isn't as good as the QA city pool and LA Fitness had too many lollygaggers and the serious lap swimmers had to wait for a lane. read more

After the remodel, for some reason they upped the temperatures in the showers. So for young children showering there (of which there are MANY), its way too hot. My 2.5 yr old son dreads showering there. I was there today with a dad carrying his daughter in his arms showering and the water was so hot she started crying, despite the fact that the dad was shielding the water and she didn't take a direct spray. It's quite ridiculous. I understand not allowing people to change the temperatures to save on the hot water usage, but why not just allow a temp adjustment on the showers??? You could easily cap the hottest setting to an energy acceptable level (where its currently set), and allow younger children and infants the ability to shower and not get scalded. That, or just lower the hot water temperature. read more

Although on the smaller size in comparison to neighboring community pools, Quebec Anne pool attendants & admin personnel were welcoming and efficient in processing large family groups. They also kept all age groups busy with different activities such as diving board, rope swing, relays. It was none stop action for one hour of family swim. read more

Lap swims are busy, but not over crowded. Amenities: Hot showers and cold shower option, Swim suit dryer, sauna, lockers, Water toys for the kids to play with. Two diving boards. Private family restrooms if needed. Lesson teachers are very nice and well informed. This is a wonderful city parks pool, one of our favorite in the city. read more

This pool has lap swim and free swim hours, water aerobics, and a small sauna. Like many pools, most of the people here will look like extras from the set of The Mummy Returns. If the horror of nakedness in the dressing rooms gets to you, you can use one of the couple changing rooms out in the lobby which are earmarked for disabled people. If you're fast, and considerate to any disabled people who are around, no one should mind. Lockable lockers are available for a quarter. read more

I swim laps here. There are times when it's a little crowded, but then there are other when no one is there. I can't seem to figure out when that will be cause it's never consistent. But I do love this pool. The city is cutting back a lot of the funding so there are limited and strange hours for the lap swims, but I try my best to make it work. The lady that works the front desk I think her name is Ruby, but I may be wrong is very friendly and helpful. She helped me get a pass and explained how the program worked. This was good because the cities website was not very clear to me. I like this pool better then the gym pool at say a 24hr fitness type place because you have people the actually wear bathing suits and are here to actually swim. At QA pool they put up signs in each lane to let people know the pace of that lane so you don't end up with a super slow person in a super fast persons lane. Locker rooms were clean and spacious to get showered and changed in. Downside is parking. They do have a small lot, but in the spring to late summer early fall there is a farmers market that uses the lot on Thursday afternoons. I've always been able to find a spot but I only go in the mid afternoons, not sure what it would be like after 5pm when people are back at home. read more

Much as I commend the city for running these swimming pools in the first place, this pool does NOT work for me. The reasons are as follows, in order of importance: (1) limited hours for lap swimming, an approximate hour-and-a-half twice a day; (2) the pool is only 25 yards long; (3) the pool is heavy used during the designated lap swim times; (4) plenty of kids use the pool, so it gets pretty noisy and somewhat chaotic (5) concrete floors in locker rooms, fluorescent lighting, and small lockers.. Pools that work for me would include the Seattle University and University of Washington pools (the former is open to the dues-paying public); YMCA, downtown, Central Area (25-yards), and West Seattle (25-yards); the public pools at Greenlake and the one next to Garfield High School (limited hours but 25 meters); the Fauntleroy open-air pool, open only during the summer. There is a co-ed sauna by the swimming pool. read more

This is an indoor neighborhood pool that's open to the public for various classes, lap swim, high school practices, and open swim. The schedule is a bit odd with such a variety of things offered, but my husband and I try to make it work within our schedules. We started out lap swimming for fun, even though we are not avid swimmers, and the Seattle Parks and Rec pass is easy to get once you have proof of WA residency. We bought a 10 pass and it worked out perfectly. Somebody suggested taking group lessons as a great way to learn proper techniques and because of the great instructors. So, we signed up. 10 classes for $70, 30 minutes each class. Best idea ever! The student to instructor ratio is about 4 to 1. They split it up by beginner, intermediate, and advanced level. The instructors take their time to work with you individually and they also address group needs. They allowed us to practice the techniques at the shallow end of the pool. The bathrooms, shower room, and locker area are nice. There's only one curtained area for those who want to change in privacy. A lot of the coin-operated lockers are out of order. There are personal locker spaces for use with your own locks. I love how there's a cold shower function to the side of the showers b/c I love taking cold water rinses. The one thing that irritates me is the soap that's dispensed from both the sink and the shower area. One of the rules of a pool is to rinse before entering, in order to rinse off "toxins", "fragrances", and other nasty body products yet the dispensed soap is full of these toxins and fragrances. I guess a fair warning is to bring your own products if you believe in a clean liver and mind. =) read more

This is a great neighborhood pool with a friendly staff, reasonable rates, and some interesting classes. Decent sized locker rooms with quite a few changing surfaces for kids. This rating, however, is for the Parent/Tot swim class Fall. The pool is not super heated -- perhaps at most room temperature. For an adult, it's fine, but anyone under 3 is going to turn blue pretty quickly in this class. Even with layers and a thermal bodysuit for our toddler, we always had to leave early. Ultimately, we skipped the last few weeks. It's fun to splash around with your baby in this class, but don't expect 'serious' teachings. Lots of songs, toys and splashing, but not too many techniques for getting toddlers comfortable with the basics of swimming. That seems to come in the next level class for kids. Nice teacher, great bonding with child, just not everything we were looking for. read more

QA pool offers a wonderful array of classes and, as of last year, its pool is now nearly heated to room temp. There is a small sauna inside the pool area itself; a fair amount of equipment is available in the pool free for use; and the showers are usually hot. Lockers are available for a quarter or you may bring your own lock for one of the smaller lockers but must take it with you when you leave. It is best not to bring valuables with you into the locker room or pool. I've never had a problem, but there are enough signs posted warning of theft that being careful is recommended. Parking is available, though limited in the pool's own lot, as well as additional street parking (hard to get on days when there is the farmer's market - Thursdays - or there is a game in the ball fields across the street). Personally, I regularly attend the hydrofit classes throughout the week and they are a great work out. The facilities more than suffice and the staff is kind, friendly and thoughtful. All of the instructors are happy to answer questions and guide you through anything unfamiliar. I highly recommend, not just the Queen Anne pool, but all of your local community pools - they offer great services at great prices and are wonderful places to use. read more

I really like the pool size/ rope swing/ diving boards and the staff is wonderful. my only problem with it is the scheduling. Public swim is only an hour and a half. However. that time is chopped up in 30 min increments. 30 high dive (can only swim in shallow or low dive section), 30 min low dive (swim shallow and high dive section) , and then rope swing which takes the entirety of the deep end so you can only swim shallow. They have the entire week scheduled at bad times for me. For others I'm sure it's fine, but I don't see why adult swim is usually during the work day and not at night when I like to go swimming at 7.. The staff is still amazing- the 'regulars' are sweet and nice. The sauna is small but perfect and the showers are kept fairly clean. read more

I'm picky about my pools. I like them to be a nice temperature so you don't get the wet sweat. The wet sweat is really freaky, it creates this boundary layer when you swim that kind of feels like not washing your hands after cutting fatty raw chicken. But QA pool is clean, and has a good temperature and has hot showers. The lap swim times are later at night so you can go after work or dinner and not have to rush. The life guards and other patrons are friendly and most of them are good at being courteous lane sharers. Then again, it only takes one person doing kicks in the fast lane to mess up your workout. The whole point of having different speed lanes is so you can switch lanes as you progress through your swim set. But meh, there are usually around 3 per lane, and people are decently good at picking a lane that fits them. read more

Crankiest lifeguards I've ever come across. Ever. They spend all of public swim yelling at customers for violations of rules that, in most cases, aren't even posted on any signs anywhere. I fully understand the need to keep customers safe, I was a lifeguard for many years, but the constant grouching at swimmers for the silliest things is taking the fun out of swimming for so many kids and adults. i've been going on tues and thurs nights for about 5 months. and sometimes a saturday or sunday. it's got easy parking. lap swimming isn't too crowded most of the time you can get a quick card and pre-purchase a bunch of entries so you don't have to waste time paying each and every time. which i did for a few times and it takes an awful long long time to finish paying. everyone pretty much leaves you alone. always a lifeguard on duty. the showers are very interesting. at least on the mens side. picture a big room with shower heads along one wall. and a bunch of clothes hooks on the opposite side wall. that's it. no barriers between the showers. no curtains. no privacy. just a huge huge room with a bunch of shower heads. yes - this is at the queen anne public swimming pool maintained by the city of seattle. i think prisons are also designed this way. my college freshman year dorm was like this too. the whole building was all male. and each floor had a couple of these "prison showers". but after revisiting my old dorm building a few years ago, they installed privacy barriers. so not so much prison showers any more at NCSU. but i think most of the city of seattle pools are still designed with this prison shower style. not gangnam style. prison shower style. read more

I've been in a lot of pools. Big pools. Little pools. Crowded pools. Hotel pools. And what I can say about this pool is that it's genuinely, completely and entirely Good. And Good is Good, right? It isn't great--the water was a little bit on the warm side, the locker room a little small and chilly early in the morning--but not everything has to be great, does it? Good, especially when you are looking for a pool at six o'clock in the morning, is often better than you can hope for. A few things of note from an out-of-town traveler who stopped by the Queen Anne Pool ... ... Exact change MEANS exact change. I rolled in at 5:58 and tried to pay the $5.25 entry fee with a five dollar bill and a one dollar bill. Nope. "We can't make change for that," I was told. "Can you just take the six? I don't need change," I asked. "No," said the mostly apologetic lifeguard, "that will mess up our till for the day. You've really got to have the exact change." Luckily, I had more than six dollars in my pocket and I was able to purchase a Nutri Grain bar (strawberry but they had an assortment) from the vending machine. From there I was able to have the exact change. Again, exact change MEANS exact change. ... The lanes are designated as either 'Slow', 'Medium', 'Fast' or 'Very Fast' with two of the three slowest lanes and one of the Very Fast. I'm, I don't know, Medium, maybe? I jumped in the medium lane (they do have kickboards available, BTW) and swam with only one other person the whole time. He was courteous and understood the concept of circle swimming. ... The 'Very Fast' swimmers reminded me of that Kanye, Jay-Z and Big Sean song 'Clique'. You know the Jay-Z lyric "Turn that 62 to 125, 125 to a 250 / 250 to a half a million, ain't nothin' nobody can do with me / Now who with me? ¡Vamanos! Call me Hov or Jefe / Translation: I'm the shit, least that what my neck say / Least that what my check say" All of that except they weren't actually Very Fast. I'd say they were somewhere between fast and mostly fast. But fast is a sliding scale, I suppose. They acted like they were Very Fast and in the land of the blind, the one eyed fast swimmer is Jay-Z. Or something. I'm not really sure. You should probably disregard this whole point. Those swimmers were pretty nice and I might listen to too much rap music. ... Good showers! read more

These are supposed to be neighborhood pools but this pool doesn't accommodate the whole neighborhood really, just the school and community center across the street. There are not enough adult swim hours or lap swim hours. I've tried off and on for a few years to get my laps in but it's always overcrowded. I've tried morning, midday, evening. It doesn't make any difference, there's always 4-5 people in every lane. Even with lanes for people of differing speeds, I'm always kicking someone or getting kicked. It's extremely frustrating. How about providing more hours for grown ups who value a good workout? read more

I came here during my food holiday for a quick swim and shower. It's a great deal at $5.25, cheaper than at home. The shower was all I needed. We have loved kiddie lessons, free swim, and lap swim at this pool, but just got to enjoy a birthday party pool rental and can't recommend it highly enough. The staff were professional, friendly, and kept everyone safe while my daughter and all of her classmates/friends had A BLAST swimming. The price is super reasonable and also allows you to have time in the lobby to feed the kids who have worked up such an appetite in the pool. This is a *great* place to have an older child's birthday party if you want to invite a larger group of friends. read more

They have under prepped 12 year old boys lacking proper training tasked of guiding these toddlers who are pretty much left alone on their own for 87.5% of the session. Near perfect example of Inefficiency and an establishment lacking proper leadership and management. Teachers/coaches should be held to higher standards. read more
