November 2025 I started lifting weights at the age of 68 1/2. I signed up for the health of a personal trainer and it has been the best decision ever. I love, lifting weights, I feel stronger and more assured of myself. At my age, many people are beginning to lose balance and strength. I know longer feel that way. I've been training with Tanner for the almost 6 months, I'm down 20 pounds and my mobility has never been better. I've never been a gym goer, totally newbie. I've spent the last few years rotting in an office chair and after a few trips to the ER for back pain, I knew it was time to change. I told Tanner my back issues and he specialized our sessions to strengthen my hips legs and back. He pushed me hard and was clear in his directions. He is very knowledgeable and has taught me how to safely continue my fitness journey. I've had no injuries since seeing Tanner. I've literally never felt better. Also Tanner is just a nice dude all around. I can't recommend him enough if you're looking to change your life for the better. This Ballard facility is big and clean, it can get busy around 5pm but even then ...there's room. Every employee I've encountered has been supportive and kind. read more

Khang & Kai & Lupe at the front desk were so accommodating and helpful and flexible in allowing me to come in for a quick visit to swim while in town before heading out on a cruise! Facilities look very nice but I only spent my time in the pool which was busy but all the members were so friendly in sharing lanes. Signed up for a 3 day trial/guest pass. Employee by the name of Mason shows me a tour and asks me for my credit card information. Told me I could cancel during the trial. I call today to cancel the trial and another employee was confused. Even named Mason (sounds like he does this often). She puts me on hold and says they will need to talk to corporate to issue a refund, as I can't attend in person to cancel since I am a visitor leaving town tomorrow morning (also why do I need to attend in person to cancel? Anyways, she puts me on hold again and the call hangs up. I will call back again to give them a chance to issue a refund before calling my credit card to dispute, as well as a call to corporate - as this location and/or employees seem be doing suspicious sign up activities when people are signing up for 3-day guest pass/trials. read more

Khang, at the front , offers efficiente stability Better layout, improved equpment and organization. Pilates is a Plus, classes run smoothly . I am at my last straw. Another weekend morning with a late opening no warning. Customers lining up to get in at 8 and all realizing one by one that this gym is terribly bad at customer service. I have such little time to get a workout in and another weekend morning is ruined for me. Rumor is gym will open at 8:45.... When I should already be done with my workout. I know see that late weekend morning openings is a pattern. Avoid this gym at all costs. Absolutely infuriating. read more

I just returned to the Ballard Signature location after they reopened since a renovation. The bathroom does seem lighter, brighter and some of the tile redone. But it looks like they focused on areas that have extra fees - like the pilates. First and only shower stall I went into STILL disgusting. But now the water only gets lukewarm!! PLEASE why can't they clean the bathrooms decently?! read more

Inconsistent openings times which is frustrating when members have limited time and our day planned out. Always runs out of hand sanitizer wipes. Front desk knows nothing about the equipment - a simple question about the location of a machine could not be answered. Many members don't seem to know common gym etiquette - about giving up a machine after "x" reps or letting other members work in with them. This is my 8th gym membership and I've never experienced such rude behavior. The location is convenient and it does have a large amount of equipment but lack of some of the basics I cited are disappointing and frustrating. The housekeeping crew work hard to keep up with the heavy usage. read more

I like the renovation done in this Signature Club . I wis they retained one court for playing squash or indoor pickleball... the gym is always clean and I'm super happy about that. Men's locker room and restrooms smells great. Kept up the good work cleaning crew! read more

I have been going to this gym since 2010. I'm an ultra distance swimmer. I recommend this place only if it is your last option for swimming. When it gets busy they continue to split the lanes instead of circle swim and divide the lanes by speed. Sometimes the pool is clean sometimes it doesn't feel like it has been taken care of. I would recommend a drop in lap swim at Queen Anne, Ballard or medgar evers if that is an available option. A long time ago a woman attacked me in the locker room and they didn't do anything about it. The woman had a heap of clothes in the sauna and talking to air. So i only recommend this place out of desperation. read more

We joined this gym because it declared itself a Racquetball gym. Now, years later we're down to one court that is about to go away in the name of a little used "glute room" like the unitasker pilates room. This is frustrating and disappointing. This also means that we either have to drive to BFE to gym, or find a new gym. I also understand that la fitness clearly doesn't care, because if they did, they wouldn't keep removing the courts. I've been going here since this summer and also signed up for a Pilates membership as well. For "signature club", it's really nothing special and a pricing scam. Machines are always broken, and the place is kinda dirty imo. I've only been going here 1) for the affordable Pilates classes and 2)based on proximity and convenience on location & parking. TODAY (9/8), I received a notice that the Ballard location will be temporarily closed from 9/16-10/3 due to construction. This communication was sent out with only a week's notice and no prior heads-up, which is extremely disappointing and disruptive. When I visited the club in person to get more information, the front desk staff were very friendly but super unhelpful. They simply directed me to other Seattle locations (Roosevelt and Aurora Ave N), which are not Signature Clubs, and are significantly less convenient due to traffic and distance. And my Pilates membership is only valid at my home location, making it unusable during the closure. If I had wanted to attend other locations, I would have signed up there in the first place. To make matters worse, I was told that members whose billing date had not yet passed could receive a refund for the month. But my billing date was yesterday, just one day prior to receiving the closure notification, and I was told I am not eligible for any refund or alternative accommodation and that i should reach out to Corporate directly with complaints. Honestly, if you're thinking about signing up, just go ahead and take your money elsewhere. There's way better and cleaner gyms for way less $. read more

Now that I've tried other guns in the area, I'd like the bump up my star rating. I'm finding North Seattle gym patrons to be unhygienic. I still wish LA Fitness would keep it cleaner, but it's not as terrible in comparison. And I like that there are separate saunas for women. read more

Pay your employees, employ more people, optimize for community customer satisfaction. Don't make apps mandatory. Horrible from the start. LA fitness has reduced employees, pays them poorly, spends too much on ADs and not enough on sanitizing. Pay your staff! This gym is way too damn busy. I've been a member for the last several months, I can go to any LA Fitness in the country, I've been to just about everyone in the Seattle area and the Ballard location is by far consistently the busiest. If you work on Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00ish type job, like myself, it's going to be real hard to find times to go to the gym when it's not jam-packed unless you like to work out at odd hours like very early or very late. And even then you're kind of limited because it's not 24 hours. Most of the equipment usually works. The gym has an odd layout. The cardio equipment faces some of the weight lifting machines. Other gyms I've been to all the equipment faces the same direction. Here, you could be on a chest press machine facing somebody on a treadmill or an exercise bike just a few feet away. The new renovation is good but where is all the leg machines? Only one per muscle group and plus the people who goes there why so nasty? We only have that one machine and you decided use that dirty towels to let people know you are using it and use another machine at the same time? Was able to pop in for a quick workout while traveling and it was super easy to manage!! Cool looking location and definitely recommend!!
