NO WIFI ON WEEKENDS! The interior of the space was cool and there were plenty of convenient street parking spaces. I had never been before and was looking forward to trying it out while knocking out a day full of work. Unfortunately, they don't offer wifi on the weekends. I'm sure this is to deter people like me, ones hoping to coop up for the afternoon, and it worked. There is nothing I love more then a local coffee joint and this place is legit! Had a meeting and of course what better way than over coffee right? Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for the big chains but the local joint have something over them. Friendly smiles, great convos you didn't know would happen, and much more pocket friendly prices! I asked the barista what she recommended: a brew with some almond milk with a dash of cinnamon and honey and WTHeck was that delicious on my tastebuds. Just the right amount of sweet and tasty. My usual is a nitro with oatmilk and honey. Their coffee is THE best. I haven't had hot beverages yet as I'm obsessed with their iced drinks. I stumbled upon this little cafe tucked away in a neighborhood and got a great cup of nitro cold brew. It's a little are to find and if you blink you'll pass it. Parking is on the street and you're competing with residents so it might take a few lots before finding a spot. When you walk in the counter is right there! It's super quiet and very hipster, more than any place I've been in Denver...lots of man buns. Everyone looked up and most smiled so it was a welcoming place to walk into. The baristas were very nice and cheerful. They have a great selection and are quick to get you your caffeine. They answered all my questions and thanked me for bringing in my own to go cup. I was really impressed by the relationships they have with their suppliers and how hard they work to make sure their stores and employees are set up for success. The Queen City crew, product, location, and community is the best in Denver. Almost every morning starts with a walk to the shop: I love to bring my pup, order from the walk up window, and relax and sip on the patio. My coffee enthusiast girlfriend (read: coffee snob) is head over heels for their beans. I am a tea drinker so I go for their London Fog (earl grey, steamed whole milk, vanilla). I've all but stopped going to other neighborhood shops because Queen City puts so much care into my little tea latte. They actually steep my tea before adding in the milk and vanilla so I have a delicious drink, not tea flavored vanilla milk. Matt, Sam, and Scott are really cool guys, it's a treat to start my mornings with a drink made by them. I'm so glad Queen City came to Baker! read more

Turmeric latte was so overpowering with the spice that I couldn't taste even a hint of any other flavors. No wifi on the weekends is an unfortunate choice but that's what they want to do so I get it. It was a cute place that I'd like to work at in the future but probably won't go back due to the following interaction. The worst part was the brewery guys clearly trying to restrict and push out the coffee customers around 11:30/12 on a Sunday. I moved to sit at a table by an outlet because other tables by outlets were taken. I was in a party of two and the sign on the table said for party of 6 or more. There was a party of 3 at a table with the same sign so I thought it was fine. The place was also pretty empty. I'd move if a big group came in. Brewery Bro came over to tell me I can't sit there because I need to leave room for brewery customers. The whole place was ~20% full, no new customers coming in, and all current customers working on laptops (by outlets) or chatting over coffee. Nobody was there for the brewery. Between the bad latte, no wifi, & rude brewery guy (who I have since learned is Tamir), I left. Probably won't go back honestly. read more

Hello Queen City and welcome! I took a Sunday morning for myself and strolled into the Baker neighborhood when I heard that they had opened. Tucked neatly and beautifully on the corner, the neighborhood is always beautiful to pass through and now has bomb coffee too! There is lots of space to sit and coffee/beer bar seating. I opted for the oat milk latte, iced, and sipped on it while getting some work done on my laptop. It's already got that neighborhood feel as local residents stroll in with their pups and families. They have a small pastry case serving up treats like croissants and quiche. They don't have anything to heat up breakfast but that's a-ok. These pastries are made to be served at room temperature. Apparently they serve beer too, I'm just not sure what time. I meant to ask the barista about it but they were incredibly busy. Parking can be tricky but I recommend you take advantage of these summer days and bike or walk over. read more

If you judge a place by how happy the staff seem to be, Queen City gets the highest marks. Staff are warm and friendly, getting names and remembering orders of regulars. Usually some good downtempo music playing. The indoor seating is pretty bland (metal chairs, generic tables etc) but what they lack in comfort they make up for in other ways. Coffee is always excellent and made to order. Get an espresso shot and it'll come with a free Topo Chico sidecar. Not a great place for food, but that's probably not why you're there. read more

At 1:30 on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the girl who took my order was a complete jerk. She not only asked me to wait outside because of my service dog without ever asking if he was a service dog. She was also extremely rude and provided absolutely no customer service. that will be the last time I ever visit this place and I was so looking forward to going in there. A little Portlandia right here in Baker... Sustainable practices = cool. Stepping onto your soapbox how your tea is sustainably sourced from ethically treated farmers where then the tea is shuttled through a Chicago based enterprise (how long is this farm to mug chain?) all before saying you have black, green, and oolong hot tea... when I merely asked what kind of tea you have = pretentious. Queen City is so hipster it hurts (all the dirty blond man buns!), expensive, and the music is so loud I am looking around at those at their laptops and cannot fathom they are doing any sort of truly cerebral, conceptual work - even with headphones/earbuds, you can't not clearly hear the lyrics. Atmosphere reminds me of a mini-Thump Coffee on 13th so if that's your jam, you'll like Queen City. The barista is friendly and cleared tables during down times which was kind of him, but he also greeted everyone with a "hi friend", which I always feel a bit conflicted with when it's directed towards strangers - while said person could be a *future* friend, a stranger ordering coffee is not actually a friend and therefore I wouldn't call them such.. but that's getting into the weeds. There's a small, sunny patio, lots of tables to work at, plenty of outlets, and a couple mid-century couches for chatting. I respect independent businesses and their sustainable orientation but just know what you're getting into before setting out. read more

Visiting Denver from SF and the land of Ritual, Sightglass, Verve, Andytown, etc. While trying out all the local Denver roasters, I found Queen City-- they do not disappoint. In my 1-week stay, they're the only ones who earned a repeat visit. Friendly and knowledgeable folks (owners?) happy to serve up some delicious coffee and tell you about it. I was pleased with my latte (1st visit) and dared to try their drip (2nd visit), and they were spot on!
