Included in Continuing Education are classes and programs that allow students to refresh or enhance their educational or professional skills. The main building is modern and up to date with sufficient classrooms and labs to provide a sound foundation. The Certified Production Technician Certification consists of 4 modules that help to prepare the student for a career in manufacturing: Safety discusses the vital role of OSHA, SDS, PPE, 5S, LOTO and other acronyms in keeping americans safe at work. Quality Practices includes drawings, measurement, and tolerancing plus QMS, SPC, and kaizen. Manufacturing Processes discusses mechanics, machines, and machining along with production planning and scheduling. Maintenance module wraps it up with an overview of how to keep it all moving along smoothly. Seriously though, it looks like there's quite a lot of information to cover between the classroom and homework to prepare the student for the modern workplace. Modern manufacturing is more than 'sit back and watch the machine work', the repetitive tasks are being done by automatons so the production worker needs to bring something more to the factory: math and mechanical skills plus an understanding of the business are necessary heading to the 21.2th century. yea George Jetson!
