NOPE NOPE NOPE. First: they're offering a Groupon, so you know they're struggling to sell flights. Second: they rescheduled with me a couple times, then confirmed, then tried to reschedule again, but forgot they had already done so and un-rescheduled. Third: THEY WERE A NO-SHOW at the airport! I called them from the airport, emailed the confirmation email back to them. Called them the next day. Emailed again. They have never replied to me ONCE. Fourth: The staff at the airport told me "they have a tendency not to show up... like a lot." And just to take the cake: they sent me a form email THANKING ME for flying with them. read more

It was continually cancelled for no reason at all and I was never given an opportunity to make it up. They kept my money and I never got a flight. I was looking for a unique way to propose to my girlfriend. I contacted this company set up a plan paid extra to fly over a certain area where the proposal would take place. The day of the flight I received a text saying they could not fly due to weather safety is number one concern. I understand that so I rescheduled fo a month later. That day rolls around I receive another message saying they can't fly due to problems with alternator. At this point I didn't want to reschedule I asked for my money back. They said it would take up to a month to refund my money. I thought this was a bit much but I waited patiently. I did not receive my refund after a month so I contacted them multiple times. The best I got was we will look into it. It's been its been over 6 months and I feel confident I'll never see that money again. read more

After paying in advance and making a reservation for an anniversary helicopter tour of the city, my flight was cancelled 30 minutes before. After 2 subsequent last minute cancellations, I was offered a refund. Now almost 10 months after I initially paid them almost $300, I have no refund. The company refuses to respond to myself or the Better Business Bureau. Clearly there is a trend with this company, as there are bad reviews on every review site online! read more

I had the pleasure of obtaining my ppl at Queen City helicopter and I couldn't be happier. Nick is a very safe, professional cfi with good instructor skills. The training and knowledge I received will be carried with me throughout my career. The equipment is professionally maintained, if it wasn't safe to fly due to weather conditions Nick the pic would cancel the flight and reschedule when the weather would permit. Bought a "flight lesson" on amazon local. made online reservation more than 3 weeks in advance. Was not contacted by thrillant until 2 days before. Got confirmation email, drove 50 minutes across town on my day off to show up to an empty business. Owner finally shows up and basically says tough luck, no reservation in his records. Owner said he would call be back that day to reschedule. Blamed Thrillant (booking agency). Thrillant blames owner Rocco whom they said they spoke to on that Saturday. Left a total of 5 messages with Rocco in that week and never heard back from him. Oh Well. Amazon local was nice enough to give me a refund. Owner Rocco will claim "Unfortunately the details surrounding this review are not accurate" as he did on another site but I can assure you it is exactly how it happened! I can provide email documentation. And sure is interesting that the other (five Star) reviewer provided so many details about the heli's AND has posted only ONE review on Yelp, a little suspicious...If the service was that great would it CONSTANTLY be in Groupons, amazon local, half off depot? Unfortunately AGAIN, we were unable to take our scheduled helicopter ride. We have been trying to schedule this since July 2015 when I booked it for my husband's 60th Birthday. For one reason or another they have reschedule us at least 7 times. In February through e-mail I told Bonnie we were moving in April and that if our reschedule for March 19th did not work out we would need to discuss a refund. We have moved out of the area but came in town Saturday May 28th to go on the helicopter ride. I bought the helicopter ride to leave from the LKN airport but we were told to go to Charlotte, not the ride we wanted or paid for as we had lived on LKN for 20+ years and preferred the tour we paid for but after so many reschedules just decided to take the Charlotte tour. We arrived in Charlotte about an hour before our scheduled flight time only to find there was mechanical issues and we would not be going. I am fine not going up because of mechanical issues however how inconsiderate to NOT CALL and let us know, knowing there was plenty of time to do so!!! Seriously, who does that on a holiday weekend and we are driving in from out of town to take this?! As one small business owner to another I am very disappointed in the lack of communication, customer service, switching areas and re-scheduling, this is not good business. My husband and I tried everything possible to accommodate their schedule for the past year in addition to e-mailing them to resolve this and have not received a response on any of our correspondences. This company is totally a SCAM, bait and switch crooks, and I would strongly warn anyone considering doing business with them to reconsider. read more

I booked a helicopter ride almost one month in advance as a birthday gift. My scheduled flight was cancelled one day prior to the day. Their reasoning was "inclement weather conditions". However, the sun was shining brightly and the weather was beautiful on the scheduled date. Instead of reaching back to me and providing me with an update regarding alternative dates, they emailed me back 3 days later citing the same reason "safety is our number one concern" and still were unable to reschedule the flight. The reservation has been canceled and I requested a refund. They did not take any ownership or responsibility for the way they mishandled this entire situation. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Unreliable. Unprofessional. And a complete waste of time! DO NOT GO THROUGH QUEEN CITY HELICOPTERS IF YOU WANT A GOOD EXPERIENCE! read more

Similar to the other review, these people are very hard to get in contact with. I paid for a flight and have been trying to book a date for my husband's bday. After no response when I called, I sent an email and was told via email that there was a good possibility that we could go on a day surrounding his bday, and that I would not need to choose a backup date. They also said they would confirm with me about a month in advance. When the day that they were supposed to "confirm" passed, I sent an email to follow up and they did not respond. I called and finally got an answer and was told they would "call me back" to see about the date that I was originally told. I was then sent an email saying that the date was no longer available, and they gave me a new date that is over a month away from my husband's actual bday, and I have called multiple times with no response to discuss this matter. It's not good business when they make it this hard for people to contact them, and don't take the courtesy to call people back who have already paid for their flight. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! If I could give 0 Stars I would. I purchased a Groupon in August 2015 and scheduled a ride and on 3 separate occasions I was told the day before that they needed to cancel. The first 2x were due to some sort of mechanical repair that was needed to the helicopter and the 3rd time was for a death in the family. After the third cancellation in December they offered me a refund which I gladly accepted. I waited the obligatory 30 days for the refund to post and did not receive a refund or any communication. After several emails and phone calls, that I always had to initiate, I was told to contact Groupon and get my refund directly. They had always blamed Groupon for not posting the refund and their "new" Groupon representative was not processing the refund properly. After over 90 days of getting jerked around, I finally contact Groupon to inquire about my refund and I was told they had received no correspondence from Queen City Helicopter regarding my refund and also informed me that Groupon was forced to open an investigation into this as I was one of many people that was having the same problem. I finally received my refund from Groupon 7 months after I originally purchased it. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT GETTING MIXED UP WITH THIS BUSINESS as it will cause you nothing but headaches. read more

After scheduling the uptown tour with Rocco, the owner, almost a month out (also confirmed 4 days before), I went up to Wilson airport as directed. After waiting an hour, and calling him over and over with no response, I went into the private lobby are and found someone who gave me the details on this company. They don't own their own helicopter, they "hope" to get a helicopter on the days they schedule tours, and if one isn't available to lease/rent they just don't show up. The lady in the office/waiting room at Wilson airport said she's hasn't seen these guys in 3 months though. So its safe to say they're out of business. Now I have to work with my credit card company to get my money back from Rocco, who made me pay at the time of booking 3 weeks prior. Its been 2 days since we were suppose to do the tour, and Rocco has blocked my phone number so it goes straight to busy signal. I've called from other numbers and he picks up, then hangs up. read more
