I purchased a pair of Hoka sneakers for $132, and after just six months, the inside heel area of both shoes was torn. I wore these shoes only at the hospital, at most three times a week, strictly for walking while caring for patients--never for running or heavy use. I'm a nurse, and I've never had this issue with any other shoes before, even ones that cost much less. With that price, I could have bought three pairs of regular shoes during a sale elsewhere. I expected better quality from Hoka, and I'm disappointed not only by the product but also by how the store staff dismissed the issue as common and not a problem. It is a problem when shoes this expensive don't last under light use. Had this happened in a larger city, I believe the store would have either replaced the shoes or issued a refund. I was recently recommended orthotics inserts by my Dr. The inserts didn't work well with the five pare of shoes I currently own.
