This morning, I had a crisis on my hands and I had no idea what to do. You see, my 16 yr old…read morepartially blind and arthritic cat had gotten himself wedged into my wall of my bathroom and he wouldn't come out. First I called a plumber who said call 911 right away. They deferred me to Animal Control and they were no help. Having no idea what to do next, I called a local contractors office fully expecting to be put off. I couldn't have been more wrong. I had the great good fortune of having my call answered at 3-R Contracting by a kind gentleman named Lee who was immediately tuned in to my worry and concern. He knew just what to do and said he'd be right over. And he was. Literally minutes later, this clean-cut, smiling youg man was at my door with saw and a bendy neck camera (not the technical term but that's what it looked like) that could see around corners and within 10 minutes he had located my cat, knew just where to cut the drywall to get to him and helped me get him out without a scratch!! He even asked for a broom to clean up the drywall dust!! (Which of course I didn't give him I was so grateful!! Can you believe it?!) Then I asked what I owed him and he said, "Ma'am, the story is good enough, but can I get a picture of you two?" Of course we obliged. What an incredible gesture of kindness and generosity!! In this day and age I think we've become accustomed to expecting the worst from people. We ordered custom drapes and window shades through Suzy Smith Interiors, and they were fabricated…read moreby Paul David Designs. It took multiple trips to make them appear marginally acceptable....the drapes drag on the floor which we specified they were not to do, they didn't close and some other issues. The huge problem is with the custom shade mechanisms; after spending a fortune on these things, several of them have broken in just a few months. A spring broke, rendering one inoperable. Another jammed in a crooked position. The only reason they open or close now is that my engineer husband has installed bolts and tinkers with them every week to make them marginally operable. One of the shades is perpetually crooked. We are a couple of careful, mature adults; no children have touched these. We have lived with custom shades in the past that were still working 15 years after installation. Paul David cannot be reached by the customer, and Suzy Smith is unresponsive. Did I mention that they wanted to charge extra to fix early problems they created? Avoid shades, drapes, draperies, window coverings from either of these companies.
