Queenies is located on the somewhat unregarded Jetty Road at Largs Bay, almost directly opposite the Largs Pier Bottle-shop. The atmosphere is rustic and casual with an assortment of feel good tunes on the playlist. There is plenty of seating inside and out, and a reasonable selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages on offer. I had a large coffee and the vegetarian breakfast: scrambled eggs on rye, mushrooms, spinach and fried tomato. Queenies' chef has been in the industry for a fair while and it shows. The eggs still had their softness, the mushrooms and tomato were cooked to perfection and the spinach had its texture without leaving a watery mess on the plate. The coffee blend was really smooth and a pleasure to drink (with no need of sugar to disguise bitterness). I've added Queenies to my "Gems of Adelaide" list - will definitely be back here to explore the menu further. read more

I popped in here yesterday and it was packed or "It's insane in there" as the owner said! It was a bright, sunny day and the Semaphore Music Festival was on a short walk away, hence being so busy. The owners cleverly anticipated it though as the restaurant was well staffed and patrons were well looked after. The atmosphere was bright, happy and buzzing. I was lucky to get a table on the balcony, so I had a view down the street towards the sea. With a bit of a squint it's a sea view! I love being able to see the glorious building that is Largs Pier Hotel. Such an amazing building. I loved sitting outside and the eclectic furniture on the balcony is great. The owner, Louise, saw me straight away and after inquiring whether i was there for lunch (I replied, no just a drink), instead of me needing to wait for the formalities of a menu and time to choose and order, she just anticipated my needs! "Vino? White?" I replied with "A light red - something like a temperanillo". WIthin a couple of minutes she returned with my delicious, light red wine so I could sit and enjoy the atmosphere and view, whilst sipping on something delicious without having to wait. It should be pointed out that Louise did know that I had experience with her wine list before, but that's exactly my point - all patrons seemed to be receiving just the type of service that suited their needs. I'm just disappointed that I'd had a late breakfast and I just wasn't hungry, because i've been craving their rocket salad! Beachside bliss. Stroll out of the surf and onto the quaint little Jetty Rd in Largs Bay with about 3 shops and a pub between them and into Queenies Store and you'd think you were in Moonta. I haven't even tried the lunch here but I've returned for breakfast. Simple breakfasts like the Veggie Brekkie with eggs, haloumi, spinach, mushies and tomato served on kibble rye or bircher muesli made from quinoa with berry compote. Everything has a healthy twist without being bland. Meals range from $12-17 but they are big servings. Coffee and freshly squeezed juices are great additions to breakfast. You will easily spend a couple of hours here soaking up the beachy ions, coffee smells and digesting your generous serving of a filling healthy breakfast. read more

A conversation with my mum almost always ends up with talk of food! What can I say, we love cooking and eating good food! lol One day we were discussing new eateries and Queenies Store was a place she'd been to that I desperately wanted to try. We made our way down there one mid morning with a fair idea of what to eat. Queenies Pizza she said! Who was I to say no to that! Much to our disappointment, they'd just implemented a new menu and their signature pizza was no longer on the menu *insert sad face here* All was not lost. Everything on the menu still sounded scrummy and with a good brainstorm fuelled by a great creamy latte we decided on a few things to try. MUSHROOM ARANCINI BALLS With a hint of sage and parmesan. These were perfectly golden brown and had the right balance of texture on the inside, firm yet soft but not soggy or sloppy. The Napoli sauce was a wonderful addition. CAJUN CHICKEN PIZZA I wanted to eat this entire pizza but had to unwillingly share. This had just the right amount of spice and flavour and was light and refreshing with the tomato & coriander salsa scattered on the top with a drizzle of sour cream. PUMPKIN PIZZA This was topped with chunks of roasted pumpkin, onion jam, roasted red capsicum & basil. We asked for it with some goats cheese to try and replicate the Queenies pizza that was no longer on the menu. It was still delicious but felt like there was a flavour element missing. I feel it could've done with more basil or perhaps have a basil pesto as a base sauce? FRIES WITH AIOLI & SEA SALT Beautifully chunky chips, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. These were so good!! The house made aioli. WOW! I could just eat this alone. I was dipping chips in to the aioli, pizza crust in to the aioli, my fingers in to the aioli and probably would've licked the little bowl it came in! All in all a pretty solid little eatery. read more

So this is our regular post-beach brekky spot. We show up with between one and five sandy, wet dogs and a couple of people to wrangle them. We book a table in the corner of the verandah to try to keep the dogs quiet and out of the way. Then we dig into a yummy breakfast. Since we started coming here, it looks like the woman who previously seemed to run the place on her own has taken on business partners. Now the eggs are consistently perfectly poached and everyone seems happier. The menu has changed a bit. I'm not a fan of the sardines, but my husband RAVES about them. My friend Lisa has a hard time going past the BLT. The dogs love whatever drops their way. On a really cold morning, I can't go past Queenie's baked beans with egg. There is dill in there as well as other magical secret spices. The dukkah mushrooms are new and oh so yummy. Sometimes, all I want is the quinoa bicher muesli. Or the eggs florentine. Or ... Well you get the picture! Coffee is hot and people are friendly. Try it! read more

I've had dinner and lunch at this cafe now and I am so impressed at the quality of the food and the general atmosphere and service. It's really great to find a restaurant that is just a pleasure and a great experience from start to finish. I've had the tapas style share plates on both occasions and to say there's a party in my mouth is an understatement! If you haven't tried their panfried haloumi then you haven't lived - put it on your 'bucket list' :). Also they do the BEST coffee. I had a number of 'WOW' moments during my most recent lunch there. Hoping to try out the gourmet pizza menu next time I visit. read more

As we live in the area we have been to Queenies a few times. Our previous experiences have been very pleasant. Food was great and recieved friendly service. However, today we chose to go there on a Sunday at 10:30. It wasn't busy at all. Only a few people sitting outside and no one sitting inside. The previous time we came here we ordered The Queenie (minus tomato and add avacado). And a B.L.A.T (minus bacon as I am a vegetarian). There was no problem. The staff were happy to oblidge our request. This Sunday when my mum went up to order the same exact thing she was told it was not possible to take off tomato & add avacado. The woman then just stood there, said nothing & offered no alternative. Just stood there. Mum said she had previously been allowed to do it. Thats when the woman at the counter went and got a lady from the kitchen. The woman said the same thing. Said they weren't allowed to do it, and the person who had let us do it the last time needed to be spoken to as it was not allowed. After talking to them and trying to see what could be done finally the woman from the kitchen said "Well I can do it but you'll have to pay extra". Which mum was more than happy to do. Mum never demanded that they swap the tomato and avacado over free-of-charge. She simply wanted one taken off and one added on. The staff were unfriendly, not helpful and not interested in the customers needs/requests. This is very disappointing, as our previous experiences here have been very enjoyable. read more

A great place to go for brunch/lunch if you want to escape the busy Semaphore Rd main street. I enjoyed my glass of sparkling with a share plate of arancini balls and enchiladas. Yum. I love the nice quiet location. The staff are friendly and the service was quick even though we ordered just before lunch. I would love to come back if I was ever down that way again. read more

Love coming here on a Sunday after a night out. The brekkies are lovely but my faves have to be the tapas style plates served after 11.30am (I know this as I almost always arrive at 11am and have to wait half an hour to order ). Calamari, arancini and the haloumi are my faves but I'll take pretty much anything on the menu. Love the sneaky bit down the side for some quiet time away from the madding crowd too. read more
