Outdoor seating is insight, and is probably available when it gets warmer... Besides the regular library facilities and activities are classes, I must mention the bright and airy space, the high ceiling for the main floor, many computers on first and second floors, huge selection of dvds, and free WiFi are reasons of this one better than other Great Neck Libraries. If you don't find your book, you can look for it through the network and request it to be sent to this library. I find this library very pleasant and quiet. As the kids room and multiple purpose rooms are downstairs with doors near the restrooms, I don't hear much of kids playing sound when I am on the main floor. You can be pretty productive and get some mind intensive jobs done in here.

The Children's Area is also nice compared to most libraries in Queens as it has a carpet floor and lots of toys for the children to play with. Unfortunately the street parking is extremely difficult and I had to park in CVS Pharmacy parking lot which is a block away. Their Baby & Me Program was mediocre (or maybe I've been spoiled by the programs in Glen Oaks Library) as the play mat wasn't big enough for all babies and toddlers to move around on and most toys were out of batteries that the light/sound didn't turn on. The person who led Baby & Me Program also didn't let parents take a photo of of their children, stating that she doesn't know what kind of situation the children are in and therefore the libraries don't allow people to take photos of the children. Hm, I took numerous photos at other libraries and I was never stopped. While the librarian in the Children's Area was super helpful, I'm not sure if it worth a struggle to come back to this library again.

First Impression - WOW, this is a library? It looked like it could be a museum or arts/culture…read morecenter from the parking lot (yes, a real parking lot)! And between the artsy appearance and sculpture like garden grounds, it may as well be a local park. It is huge and has multi-levels. Fancy inside and out. Very clean and well managed. This is not your typical library - at least not based on the NYC/Queens branches. What a difference when you cross that county line. I ventured here at the suggestion of a friend who told me about the reading time for the younger set and for the kids' community room. So this review is based solely on the Children's area and section (lower level). Just walking in, huge space, brightly lit, welcoming, customer service desk right there. Media room on the right. (You can ask for tickets to local community parks and museums, events and the like - see postings on the bulletin wall). Upon descending to the lower level, there are some nice mixed use rooms, mini classrooms and lab room settings, art installations on the walls (see pics), and even a snack/vending machine area. No library I have been to ever allowed food, let alone offering an area to purchase and enjoy it! The children's library has spacious seating areas and there's an exit to the garden grounds from there. There's also an ipad station, limited to 20 mins. per user to keep it rotating and fair. It is a public space. And there's a community play room for the really young set (ages 6 and under). Soft play space and toys. Very cool. The shelves are stocked with books for pre-K to High School level reading. Art work from the local school is featured on top. Makes for a very nice visual. One side note: the library location I went to was called the Great Neck Main Branch. So in case, the address is 159 Bayview Avenue, NOT the one listed above in this Yelp listing...not sure why the address didn't come up but it is Great Neck Road...perhaps the GPS has modified? FYI. PLEASE note the address if you want to see the library I saw, in case I checked in at the wrong one. (Apologies in advance). Google maps shows 4 locations ... Bayview is one of them. I am discovering based on other Yelp reviews that we may not be talking about the same locale or it was likely renovated since (those posts were from 2015) and everything here looks BRAND NEW. I would totally come here again to explore more.

He came back later to stare at my game. I told him go away. He's preventing me from concentrating. He said it is a public space. Then the man's son started yelling at me. I told the librarian twice the man was bothering me and the librarian did nothing because the man harassing me was the same race. One manager targets me. She keeps interrupting my chess game and interrupted me using the computer to push me to see the DA's Office. I don't want legal issues and why wasn't the DA's office working instead of bothering people at the library. Printer wasn't working in the adults' section for three weeks.

Just scan the card and wait your turn. You can print up to 10 pages per day. If you need more printed there's an option to pay, but you can't pay for it. I've spoken to the librarian who said you can only print only 10 pages. They have about 4 self check out stations in the center of the Library which is a breeze to use. If you are unfamiliar, the librarian's desk is right behind the checkout stations and they are friendly and courteous. There is only 1 return center but it doesn't take that long. They have a decent selection of DVDs and OK selection of music. This is a small Library but seems to have all the essentials. They have a children's area which is bright and is separated from the adult area. They have a tiny Teen room as well as a small classroom in the back. There is one computer dedicated as a catalog. They have a decent selection of books but not everything since it is very small. You can always order whatever book you want and they will notify you via email when it is ready to pick up so its not impossible to find /have delivered what you are looking for.

Some of the people in the front desk get be sometimes rude towards children and even the adults. One of my friends stop going there to taking her child for book reading. In spite of other libraries, this is the only one which does not have any toys for children. The only thing they provide is crayons and painting papers.

Coming here on my lunch break, I could hardly find a parking spot in the adjacent street. Luckily, there are a lot of empty spots a block away into the neighborhood. What is great about this library is that every section is clearly labeled. I made the mistake of going to the visible DVD section to my left, only to find out that I was in the children's section. There are about six computer terminals and only two studying tables I think. As expected from seeing the Korean shopping center across the street, this library has a great Korean language collection of books, magazines, CDs, and DVD/VHS. I only wished that the librarians aren't so ignorant to put Korean and Chinese media DVD/VHS/CDs together in the same section, where they are mixed together. I have no idea how people try to find a specific media item since there doesn't seem to be a clear filing system. They have movie titles on cardboard that I can take out to rent them from the shelf behind the circulation desk. Unfortunately, I won't bother going through this section because it's too tedious to sort out Korean/Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese languages. Ironically, with a library so ethnically strong with a foreign language collection, I do not see a language learning section in this library. If I get to come back here again, I'll find the time to ask the librarian since I didn't have much time to really walk around due to time constraints with the parking, etc. There is a formal checkout line for the sole circulation desk with one, young teen librarian on duty to check out materials. I'm sure that this library is great for all the Korean knowledge suckers out there.
