Outdoor seating is insight, and is probably available when it gets warmer... Besides the regular library facilities and activities are classes, I must mention the bright and airy space, the high ceiling for the main floor, many computers on first and second floors, huge selection of dvds, and free WiFi are reasons of this one better than other Great Neck Libraries. If you don't find your book, you can look for it through the network and request it to be sent to this library. I find this library very pleasant and quiet. As the kids room and multiple purpose rooms are downstairs with doors near the restrooms, I don't hear much of kids playing sound when I am on the main floor. You can be pretty productive and get some mind intensive jobs done in here.

Definitely has a different look from your typical library -- it's a round structure painted with primary colors (blue, yellow, red), akin to a Kindergarten. But don't be fooled, it's your average Queens Library inside. Because of the unusual structure of the building there is a lack of windows so be prepared to adjust your eyes to the darkness inside. The shelves are arranged around the outside edge (like spokes of a wheel) and the center holds the computers and tables/chairs. This branch is still in the Dark Ages (no pun intended) so there is no self-check out yet. But it does the job and I generally emerge with a book or two in hand. I've come to feel at home here and feel that it's unusual shape and color simply adds to its charm.

Glad the public library is still around and a great resource to have regardless of ones age . You can request material for loan online and get notified when it's at the branch ready for pickup. They are open six days a week. Staff members are a bit abrupt. I returned a loaned item at the automated return slot, and it was not read properly so it was still on my account as checked out. I brought it to the attention of a staff member to be corrected, and he acted like I was bothering him. Whatever happened to service with a smile?

A cute little neighborhood library with everything you'd need…read more It may not have a massive selection, but it has all of the options you'd require from a modern library - you have about a dozen computer terminals and multiple (free) printing stations that you can log into, a whole bunch of movies on DVD/Blu Ray to take home, a comics/manga section for kids (and kid-like adults like myself), magazines, and of course plenty of books around. They routinely put up notices for classes and programs for the local community - Chess club, English Conversation groups, Music, mobile device classes, creative writing, you name it. The hours are about what you'd expect from a normal NYC library - open most days until about 6:00 pm, closed on weekends. I come here semi-often and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I'm glad this is here for the local community and that we have this as a go-to option for learning or relaxation.

Book Selection - 3: I been to this particular branch four times in the past week. I haven't…read moresearched their book collection but it looks very small from just looking. The branch altogether is small but I'm sure I would need to request a book from the branch if I needed it. Ambience - 3: The adult section and children's section alike are small. There are only four long tables, two cushioned lounge chairs with a table in the center and a counter prioritized for laptop users (their wifi sucks, by the way); all of this is on the adult side. I've never actually walked to the children's section but from what I've seen looking from the entrance way, they have much more going for them. The library is not quiet at all. If you want to get work done, bring your headphones. It's ridiculous that people pick up phone calls or have conversations there. Other than, it's a place to do homework away from home. Location - 5: It's convenient because of the distance from my house to library. There are also convenience stores, a laundromat, mini-malls, etc. close by the library. They are currently doing construction so you may miss the entrance since it is covered with scaffolding. Do not speed past it.
