I'm not mind-blown stoked about it because the actual summit is pretty minimal with not much stuff around besides wooden picnic tables but it's definitely worth a go.

We'd driven from Beaumaris to Birregurra and decided to head back home the next day via the ferry…read more The main reason we chose the ferry is that the road from Melbourne to Geelong is the most boring road in the history of roads and I really wanted to avoid driving it again, where possible. The other reason being that I hadn't been on the ferry in years and my husband had never been on it, so we decided to take the scenic route home. If you're unfamiliar with the layout of Melbourne, it's built around a bay and there is a narrow entrance to the bay between Queenscliff and Port Nepean. There's a ferry which runs every hour from each side and it takes about 45 minutes to cross. You can take your car too. We arrived about 20 minutes before the crossing, paid our $70 (for a car, driver + one passenger), got a free Herald Sun newspaper and waited in line. They queue the cars in rows and when they start boarding the ferry you just follow the person in front of you. The staff are helpful and chilled and make it a quick and stress-free experience. While the ferry is crossing, there's an upstairs lounge area to relax in with a cafe and kids play area. It's basic but at the same time, comfortable and makes the trip enjoyable. If it was a nice day you can stand out on the deck but it wasn't the best weather so we just stayed inside and watched the lovely view. Before docking at Sorrento, you get told to return to your cars so you can make a quick exit again. It's very efficient and smooth, and for the price I think it's well worth it. You can also use the ferry as a foot-passenger.

I needed a shuttle w a trailer as the bike box is a little too big for public transport. The shuttle service was great. It is rumored that they can run late. I would suggest booking the shuttle about an hour earlier than you need it so that you make your flight on time. The prices are half of Sunbus. You can pay cash when they arrive or prepay w a credit card over the phone. I plan to use them again in the future. Rather than dropping you off at the door of your hotel or flat, they actually have bus stops on their route. They have on on Fitzroy in St. Kilda.

Sam is the consummate professional but more than than that, he is friendly and extremely accommodating. By lucky coincidence, Sam was also my driver when he drive me to my new home on the Bellarine peninsula. The drive down, which was gnarled by traffic at times, passed by quickly as we resumed the conversation we had on our first trip together. This time, my luggage doubled. He arrived on time, helped with the extra items and made the long trip very pleasant indeed. Very cute shop before boarding and on the ferry itself. As a tourist I was happy they had lots of pamphlets about what to do on the peninsula :)
