I've had macarons from a handful of places and never thought much of them... Until I got a sample of these and had to buy some!! THESE WERE AMAZING! Very different than all the macarons I've had previously that were clearly just look alikes. I can't describe the amazing texture of the shell and how thick, creamy, and flavourful the centre was. You just have to try it in the area. They would also make a wonderful gift for your friends!

Fall colours!

So today on my lunch break I checked out the Montreal branch. It's near my summer job and it is one of the few places open before 11 am. They have variety of selection; macarons, croissants, sandwiches, milkshakes, tea, etc. Go in for dessert and/or grab a meal too. Today I bought a salmon croissant sandwich & a cotton candy milkshake shown below in the picture. Both were great. Pricey but tasty. Give it a try peeps!

I enjoyed their sandwiches. Nice ambiance and very friendly staff. If you are there, try their salmon sandwich and their milkshakes.

They have EVERYTHING. This place was honestly dangerous for me because i love me some baked goods…read more I'm a sucker for bread and desserts and theirs is AMAZING. Me and my good friend ordered an assortment of stuff and all of it came out so delicious. The service and fast and the people are kind. Come here if you have a baked good addiction like me, you won't regret it!

This place has a huge following. Maybe I have always just gotten the wrong items at the wrong times…read morebecause I am not as enamoured of this place as the vast majority of people seem to be. My first visit was many moons ago, when French macarons were just becoming popular in North America. I had had macarons for the first time at a bakery in Toronto called Nadege and I will forever compare all macarons to the ones I had there, lol. At the time, I did not know of any place in Ottawa that sold them, then some time later, I had heard that The French Baker had them, so I was so excited to try them. I was so disappointed though. They were hard and tasted stale to me. That put me off trying anything else there for years. However, I believe in second chances and even third chances. Unfortunately, I can't say that any of the subsequent items I've had there blew me away. Their cupcakes are tiny and drier than I like. Their palmiers are rich and buttery though, but also tiny, lol. Good for portion control, I suppose ;) People love this place, so maybe you will too. As for me, I would eat it if someone bought me some food from this bakery, but it's unlikely I would return and buy something for myself there. It's in the Byward Market, so like most places there, street parking only.

Donut shop in the plateau sector of Gatineau. I've been going here since 2018. I've always liked it…read morehere and think it's a great addition to the community. They sell donuts (obviously), cinnamon buns and coffee. They are big donuts, so one donut with a coffee is enough for me.

TL;DR: Delicious fluffy decadent doughnuts in a cafe in a large shopping plaza complex…read more After a healthy salad lunch next door, my husband and I decided to get some doughnuts for dessert. Life is all about balance, right? Lol. I got the Pêche et Fraise (Peach and Strawberry) which is a jelly doughnut covered in powdered sugar. Doughnuts are $4.50 each. My husband got the Tour de Chapeau (which translates to Hat Trick) which is a yeast doughnut with chocolate glaze, covered with chocolate crumbs and drizzled with white chocolate. It is not a filled doughnut. We shared both doughnuts. I always prefer filled doughnuts, but I was a bit disappointed with the filling of my doughnut. It tasted like pureed peaches and strawberries true to its name, but the texture was like applesauce which wasn't yummy, at least in my opinion. I would have preferred either more of a jelly texture or a peach and strawberry-flavoured custard. So surprisingly, I enjoyed my husband's doughnut more. The Tour de Chapeau was so fluffy and soft. The chocolate toppings were sweet and decadent. The crumbs gave it a nice subtle crunch. Service was courteous. There was only one person working and customers before me ordered specialty drinks so the wait was a bit long. They also sell ice cream, in addition to doughnuts, cookies, sandwiches and coffee/tea. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. They have 2 arcade machines, Ms Pac-man and Mortal Kombat. They also had some boardgames available for customers. I saw Battleship and Connect Four. Lots of parking available in the shopping plaza parking lot. (153)
