The donut was so fresh and incredibly yummy. I have no idea what was used to make the circle logo on the donut but it was so soft and creamy. It made me think of the inside of a marshmallow, minus being sticky. The woman I walked out of the Gala with did not want her donut (to my benefit). So I was able to eat one on my drive home last night and split the second one in half for my children who happily devoured it this morning. My oldest even mentioned how great it was without prompting. Any local business that supports CHEO is always something I want to support. Definitely recommend Maverick's and will be stopping by their shop with the family this weekend to indulge.

During the rush hours, it can be crowded but their turnaround time is quite fast (which means you also decide on your donuts fast, not to hold up the line), so not an issue there.

But I wish the signage had been there in the first place. Even looking past these aspects of the experience, I just haven't been impressed with the actual cinnamon buns. They come in an awkwardly small box, and the plastic silverware on premise is far too flimsy to be used effectively. Eating a cinnamon bun should be the best part, but struggling to eat it really sours the experience for me. And then it didn't even taste very good. I think I won't try it again.

They have expanded over the years and have several locations across the city now. My brother picked up a half dozen donuts here for one of our family get-togethers. He got there too soon after opening and their filled donuts were not ready yet, so he got their regular/unfilled donuts. I much prefer filled donuts, but the unfilled ones were good. They have their permanent line of flavours then they have seasonal and rotating flavours. The seasonal/rotating donuts sometimes cost a bit more, like a $0.30 premium. It's usually $23 for 6 donuts (Feb 2025 pricing). My brother got a Spicy Pineapple Twister, a Dirty Chocolate, a Cookies n Cream, an Old Fashioned, a D'OhNut, and a Raspberry Cassis. There was a premium charge on the Spicy Pineapple Twister and the Old Fashioned. The Spicy Pineapple Twister is just a regular donut, it is not a Mochi donut despite the shape. I tried a bit of it and enjoyed it. The spiciness was incredibly mild. I tried a sliver of the old fashioned just to try it, but I'm not generally a fan of cake donuts. I much prefer yeast donuts. I didn't have any of the others because I've had them before and needed to save stomach space for other foods at our family feast, haha.
