Quest Diagnostics is a huge company founded in 1967 with labs all over the US, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Brazil. They provide diagnostic testing for all types of diseases, cancers, disorders, drug testing, and Covid-19. This location was in a convenient location and on the first floor. Parking was spacious. Booking an appointment online was quick and easy. I've always used QD for the majority of my labs, for years now; pretty much all of my doctors and insurance providers use their services. Checking in was easy, there is a kiosk and/or a link gets texted to your mobile phone to check in. On my first visit, I waited a few minutes in the lobby before being called in for my appointment. The person helping was cordial but unfortunately she couldn't proceed with my blood work; my doctor didn't completely fill out the requisition, so the system wouldn't let her proceed. This wasn't her fault and I understood, but I was disappointed because I was fasting and drove there early for this appointment. Since it's a Saturday, I couldn't reach my doctor for the missing code. I had to reach my doctor on Monday for this info. and rebook another appointment. In the end, my experience was 1 star but at no fault of Quest Diagnostics; I gave them 4 stars because ease of making an appointment, how quickly I got in, and cleanliness. read more

Terrible location. You should literally go to any other location. And I'm sure the staff would be very happy the less people they have there. Our appointment didn't work so we joined the walk-in list and this is the second time they have told us, even though all the other walk-ins were taken, we were asked to leave bc we didn't have an appointment even though we tried. Why have a walk-in option? And why ask people to leave when there was only one other person waiting in the waiting room with us? read more

"So different, yet so the same" (Different People - No Doubt) So I made my 13th visit to Quest Avon early this morning, and yes..... it was so different but kind of the same. As I was walking into the front door of the office building, I sensed something was different. There was caution tape all over the place, I saw the main hallway was gutted, I saw construction workers buzzing around, and then I saw the sign directed at visitors to Quest Lab. More or less, it said go to the back of the building. At least they had signs up, because otherwise I would have thought the building was closed! Anyway, Quest has moved from their old second floor location to a brand new first floor location. It must be super brand new because I could smell fresh paint everywhere. One change I noticed immediately was the old registration/check-in desk was nowhere to be seen, it has been replaced by a touchscreen kiosk, another example of that despicable trend. In my case, the check-in went miserably. You can use your name, confirmation code, or scan your QR code to check in. I tried the confirmation code in my e-mail, and it said I didn't have an appointment. At first I thought I screwed up the date, so I double checked to verify today's date and yes indeed - it was April 27th. I tapped on the glass door, two folks responded, and it turned out that any appointments made before April 1st (like mine was) isn't recognized by the program. Makes no sense, but whatever.... Anyway, the rest of my visit went smooth as glass. The lab technician was super nice and had a very gentle touch to take my blood sample. So if you're a repeat customer here, remember to drive around to the back of the building and use the rear entrance. And hope your appointment was made after April 1st. read more

THEY ARE ALL RUDE HERE!!!! My husband had to take an emergency stool test on Friday night couldn't get an appointment for Saturday. They close at 12. He's been waiting for an hour just to drop off the sample and they were very rude to him!!! These are supposed to be professionals and they're supposed to be compassionate. I wouldn't even give them one star. Go to Simsbury instead they are much more accommodating. read more

I've been to this Quest twice and have never had a better experience at a Quest. It can be a little hard to find via google maps so plan accordingly. Both phlebotomists were the best I've ever had take my blood. And I've had a lot of blood drawn over the years. Setting up my appointment and checkin went smoothly. I had less than a 5 minute wait. I was impressed by both of their positive attitudes and skill levels. Barely if at all felt the needle go in. I'm so glad I live so close to this Quest and will keep going there as long as I possibly can. My results were available through the app quickly. Highly recommend. read more

It's just blood work, right? Shouldn't these places all be the same? As someone who's been to many quest locations and have had blood drawn by many different technicians, I feel confident enough to leave a review for this specific location. This was my second time visiting this quest. Making an appt from my phone was super convenient, being able to view available times and selecting what works for me. When I got there, the room only had some chairs and 2 kiosks, no front desk to speak to anyone, which I wasn't thrilled about but I guess it keeps things moving smoothly. I used the link on my phone to check in and it said to take a seat. I didn't wait long until the technician called me in. I wish I remembered her name because I didn't feel this needle at all. I've had bad experiences, and regular experiences. Usually it's fine, but still a bit uncomfortable. This was nothing. The technician was also very pleasant and my visit was quick. I would have her do all my blood work in the future if I could. My visit before this one was for my teenage son. He had a bad experience a few days earlier when someone at his pediatrician's office attempted to draw his blood but was still learning and kept missing his vein. Our visit to quest started the same as mine did- easy appointment, pleasant technician. It wasn't the same woman, but she was also very nice...and very very patient. He went into panic mode though and got upset before she could draw his blood. She was very good with him, didn't rush him or give any indication she was annoyed. He finally let her stick him, but because he was so tense she wasn't able to get much blood. She promised him she wouldn't stick him more than once and she kept her word, so unfortunately we left without having his blood work done. We've put off going back to try again for a while, but when we do, it will definitely be at this quest and hopefully with one of these 2 wonderful technicians read more

Please note that the vast majority of reviews on this site are 2-7 years old! My advice is, pay no attention to them. That was then, this is now. I have used this location several times in the past several months with no unpleasant experiences. In the past month, I've gone there twice with very pleasant experiences. The phlebotomists, especially Ciwe' and Shayla, were highly competent, professional, and delightful personalities. Ciwe', who is from South Africa, and I discovered we were big fans of Hugh Masakela, the famous South African jazz artist. My waiting times on both occasions were short, despite the fact I was a walk-in. There was a sizeable staff on duty and the turnover was quick. If you prefer to make it less likely you might have a wait, they encourage you to make an appointment ahead of time. read more

Very unfriendly environment. The phlebotomist that called me in for my appointment was extremely rude and condescending when I asked her why she wasn't wearing a mask. Since she refused to wear one I told her I wanted to be helped by someone else who actually cared about patients' wellbeing. I can't believe this company continues to employ rude staff; it's obvious from other reviews they have a consistent problem. In the future I'll go elsewhere for labwork blood draws. read more

The online appointment scheduler would freeze up each time I tried to schedule an appointment, so I tried calling but there was no option to speak with someone. I decided to go to the lab as a walk-in so I could discuss the scheduling problem with a live person. The waiting room requires that you register through their automated computer sign in. After taking all of my information, including my driver's license and insurance card, the computer told me there was nothing available and I would need to come back another time. So I waited until the tech came to the door to speak with someone, so I could ask him what to do. He acted incredibly surprised that I would think I could walk in for bloodwork, or that someone would be available to help me with scheduling problems. He explained that I must book well in advance, and that if I didn't want to take time off of work to have bloodwork drawn, I would need to book very far in advance at a Quest Lab that takes 6am appointments. So despite needing bloodwork drawn for several important medical reasons, and fasting for 12 hours, it will be another week or two before I can have bloodwork drawn at a Quest Lab. Nice job monopolizing the system, Quest, only to provide extremely poor service, at a lower standard then we had before. If you can't get the scheduling right, how do you get the hard stuff right, like patient safety and accurate testing? read more

I've never been at the Avon location where quality customer service was provided. The introduction of a tablet for sign-in just made it even a less friendly experience. Tips: Staff should acknowledge patients upon arrival. A 'good morning' won't kill you. Everyone is not comfortable with technology - staff should ask of someone needs assistance. ZERO STARS for Quest and for Jaqueline! Jaqueline was extremely rude and demeaning. After embarrassing me in the waiting room by loudly and obnoxiously saying "the woman thats been waiting for over an hour with the baby" she then proceeded to talk down to me and tell me I should have made an appointment (I had walked in with my baby at 10:55am and the computer told me it would be approx. 8 min wait) but I was not called until WELL over an hour later. Instead of being kind and understanding that I had been waiting with my baby in my arms trying to manage as we waited for that long (because the computer kept saying 8-10 mins for the wait time until I would be called but it ended up taking over 75 mins) she starts giving me an attitude and making me feel like it was my fault because I didn't make an appointment online. While I understand she doesn't manage the computer wait time system, I do expect the staff to act decent and professional and possibly even show some compassion for the patients but Jaqueline was anything but that. After waiting for well over an hour to get bloodwork I actually refused to let Jaqueline take my blood after she was aggresive, belitting and intimidating towards me. Instead, I took note of her name told her she was not wcring professional and then I left and decided to write this review in hopes that her manager reads this and makes appropriate changes to their staff and to their wait time computer system. This is completely unacceptable QUEST! The elderly people sitting there thinking it will only be a few more minutes when in reality it turns into over an hour is just wrong. The system with this company is rigged and the staff in this location are unprofessional. Don't come here! Very disappointing. read more

It took Quest 6 months to send me a bill for charges not covered by my insurance. However, my insurance company said items would have been covered had the proper codes been used. I tried every means possible to contact Quest through its website and directly and was ignored for months. Then I was sent corrected claim forms but they were supposed to be sent to the insurance company and they included other peoples claims which violates HIPAA. The company is clueless and does not care about its patients. read more

Getting blood drawn is really mundane. But the staff here makes the time worthwhile. Very personable and kind. A great experience.

Not the first time I have used this location. They are usually busy but that is fine providing they work efficiently and in a timely manner. This morning's visit was terrible. The waiting area was pretty crowded. I signed in and was told I would be called soon. After 30 minutes and several people who came in after I did were taken care of I began to become agitated. Giving them the benefit of the doubt I waited 10 more minutes before approaching the reception area to see what the hold up was. The sign in sheet had a line drawn through my name with 6 more names crossed out under mine. I asked why was my name crossed out and was told that "oh, I called your name and someone else must have come up". Really??? When I finally saw the technician he poked the needle into my arm but was unable to find a vein. On the third try he jabbed deeper and blood began to flow. He was totally matter of fact about this as if it were routine. I don't know why I rated them even 1 star. I will definitely not be returning! read more

Only thing positive I have to say about quest diagnostic is it didn't hurt doctor got results,Until I got the bill OMG on average the price 200-300% 3X every other company for 3 simple tests else were 180.00 220.00 at the most.I don't have insurance so 576.00 weeks pay.I called asked if they can offer a competitive pricing or cash discount something to help not go to collections, financial assistance or payment plan is it.I don't want to get what I call it is Blood Money from the state to pay them to over charge for this bill.Payment plan 18% I'm guessing.Talking to them about it they could care less about .Ok Quest,you got me this time, But I will remember and everyone else no insurance please ask how much and check other very reliable establishments that don't want Quest to bleed you dry.g read more

Who cares if your blood draw experience was pleasant when you can't get the results? I've been to this lab three times and while they were pleasant, they messed up every time! They've drawn blood and done tests on the wrong date despite doctor's orders and me reminding them, and now they've lost the results to my latest test. Two months later and I'm still trying to get results. Don't waste your time! read more

This is the worst lab I have ever been to. Especially the phlebotomist named ROXANNE. I would highly urge everyone to avoid this place at all costs. We have a special needs child who has had lots of medical procedures, so naturally he was terrified of getting blood drawn. He was putting up a fight, however.... this ROXANNE said he was a, "Pain in the ass" and " you need to learn how to raise your child" and then said "You need to learn how to control your child". Needless to say... she has been reported. She has ZERO compassion and/or personality. And should not be in the position working with the public especially a Medical Field. When he was fussing she at one point refused to even try and said, "kids like him need to go to a hospital to get this done" and "i can't take all day to do this, there are people waiting". read more
