Topping up a tree and flower garden with 'garden mix' soil offers several benefits, such as retaining moisture in the soil, reducing the need for frequent watering, especially in dry conditions, providing a slow-release source of nutrients, reducing the need for commercial fertilizers, saving money and reducing the risk of over-fertilization. It also provides food and habitat for beneficial organisms like earthworms and bacteria, which play an important role in soil aeration and nutrient cycling as well as helping to improve the pH of your soil, which can be crucial for plant growth, especially if your soil is too acidic or too alkaline.
