I love what they do for many communities in the area - they provide a space for artists to display and sell their works, they reduce the amount of trash that goes into landfills, they provide materials for just about anyone to make their own art (including and especially teachers!), educate youth and adults on how to make use of the supplies they offer, and they sell "thrift" type items at a great value that run the gamut from puzzles to vases. What I love most is that I can donate goods that I may have thought about tossing, because someone's garbage is another person's art supply! It's worth going to Resource Depot frequently, because you truly never know what you're going to find or how you're going to be inspired. For instance, I just got a string of lights that I want to hang in a dark corner of my home. I found this amazing ball of thick string and webbed colorful materials that I've now made into a chandelier. Their postcards are also so cool, and inspiring me to make other projects. The staff is always so nice and helpful, and when I've looked for something specific for a project, I've always found someone that is willing to help me out.

Their goal is simple yet impactful: provide materials to those who can use them while promoting sustainable practices and creative expression. Over the past 25 years, Resource Depot has kept an estimated 95+ tons of materials out of landfills, all while raising environmental awareness. As an educator with a limited--or sometimes non-existent--budget, a place like Resource Depot is a lifeline. Schools often can't provide enough supplies for students, and what little remains in the resource closet has to stretch for weeks or months. In the thrift area, I found an incredible variety of affordable items: games, holiday decorations, books, home goods, art supplies, faux florals, ribbons, artwork, and more. The paint alone was worth the trip! If you want to see a child light up, just offer them the chance to paint--fortunately, they had the Crayola washable kind I needed. Shopping is flexible and budget-friendly: a small bin is $5, a large bin is $10, and if you purchase eight large bins, you get one free. Teachers also receive a 15% discount on regularly priced items (not bins). These are prices anyone can afford. Resource Depot is truly a gem, and Palm Beach County is lucky to have such a creative, sustainable, and community-focused resource.

Hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10 to 4. Proceeds from donations are used to fund local and global missions. Blessings and Bargains has several rooms filled with household goods, children's toys, men's, women's, and children's clothing, accessories, small appliances, glassware, collectibles, linens, books, puzzles, and art. They even had some vintage pieces. Some of the sales they had going on included fill a bag with clothes for $5 and 50 percent off coffee makers and previous holiday items. Some of the clothes were even brand new with the tags attached. Everything was well organized and inexpensively priced. Since they formed in 2005, they have distributed 70 million pounds of food. RBI Thrift is located in the old Sears in Boynton Beach Mall. You enter from the outside, not from inside the mall. I discovered RBI while visiting Dillard's Clearance Center, also in the mall. One thing to note, there is no air conditioning. To their credit, the people who work here are somehow able to maintain a cheerful disposition despite the miserable heat. The store inventory is a mixture of new items donated by their corporate partners and used thrift items donated by the general public. I saw furniture, hone decor, plant and garden supplies, pet supplies, toys, kids clothing, art, shoes, sunglasses, accessories, bags, and beauty and drugstore supplies. Prices range from $1 to the several hundred dollars. I found a cute little rabbit dish from Pier One for only $2. I also purchased a brand new in the box microcurrent facial toning device and a microdermabrasion kit. Both were marked $10 but I only paid $5 each at checkout. They are both going for $50 all over the internet. I am excited to try them both out. If you enjoy bargain hunting I recommend checking out RBI where the proceeds go to a really great cause.

RBI stands for Restoration Bridge International. The nonprofit is well known in Palm Beach County for its work helping with food distribution and food drives to help feed the hungry. It also provides other services as well. So we knew whatever we bought here (or donated in the future) would be going to a good cause. They have lots of different items spread throughout the store. They are still putting out merchandise. Offerings range from clothing to toys, accessories, candles, health and beauty products, gardening supplies, shoes, bric a brac, linens, and furniture. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. A youngster was helping out as a "greeter" (too cute!). Just a note, although they accept credit cards, there is a fee for using them. Bring cash. As they're putting out new stuff every day, I'm sure we will be returning. We wish them success.
