My boyfriend and I here stopped here on a whim after hiking at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Originally we planned on driving 4 hours home after our hike but we were pretty beat from the sun and dunes that we decided the best thing to do was stay overnight at a hotel. The hotel hit all the marks for us. The price was great for a last minute stop. The check in/check out process was a breeze. We booked a hotel for the breakfast in the morning and the breakfast alone was a 10/10. So many options! There's something for everyone. We planned on using the fitness center and pool/hot tub but didn't Both areas were very clean we just ran out of energy and chose to relax and watch TV instead. Staff was all very friendly. The entire hotel was clean. Breakfast was well maintained and stocked. The hotel lost a star for the noise. We stayed a few doors down from the front desk/breakfast area. Breakfast opens at 6am and we could hear all the guests walking past our door. We heard noise at 9pm when we were trying to sleep. Better soundproof walls for rooms down from busy areas would help out a lot. We would definitely stay here again! read more

Checked in about half an hour after sunset but the sun still lit up the sky on the horizon which made this a great place to stay if you wanted a great view. Great location to hit up Sleeping Bear Dunes in the morning as it's only a 20 minute drive from here. Hot breakfast included cheese omelet, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. Directions to get to the fitness room is a little confusing - just go to the breakfast dining area and go down the stairs there. It is down one floor with the pool. There is no water filler but there is a water fountain which I used. Fitness room included a weight machine, elliptical, treadmill and bike. Here you can also find coin laundry machines. read more

The hotel was extremely expensive. One night for two people for $350. And $20 for each additional person. Breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast. The worst thing was that the smoke alarm went off at about 1 am. Thinking we all had to evacuate the building but then we realized it was just our room. We got it turned off then Tried to fall back asleep. Then an hour later it went off again. Again we got it shut off. Try and go back to sleep and then one last time goes off around 3 am. We had to leave at 7 am for Ironman run with little sleep. And then will need to drive five hours. The hotels response was "we should have called maintenance in the middle of the night to fix it and in the future in any hotel that's what we should do because maintenance could have changed a battery. In all my travels I've never had a smoke alarm go off but thanks for advice! That is the most ridiculous response ever. First it was not chirping at all before we went to bed to indicating a low battery. Secondly we were exhausted and knew each time we only had a few more hours to sleep. And thirdly we didn't think it would keep going off. Absolutely ridiculous. For that kind of money at the very least you should be able to get a good nights rest. Very disappointed in how mgmt handled this. Even offering $20 off hotel bill would have a nice gesture! We will not be staying there ever again which is so sad because it is a beautiful area! read more

I really enjoyed my stay here since it was a last minute trip and the price was right. Came up this way to see the fall colors ends planned the trip pretty much last minute which I'm not big on doing but it happens. It sits in a small town which was nice. The staff here was very friendly and the lobby was super clean which is always a great start on staying at a hotel. My room was very clean and very spacious which was a very big positive to me. The hot water the shower definitely was a great pressure and felt great after a long day of going out and shooting photos of the fall colors. The free breakfast was just very basic but you know at the same time how can you argue with a free breakfast when on a Sunday most of the places around here were closed anyways for breakfast so I took what I could and enjoyed it. I'll definitely be staying here another time the line because the prices were just right. read more

My Husband and I were traveling through but our car broke down in town so when we asked the mechanic were to stay they suggested the Best Western we really did not have a choice we were without a car and needed to stay until it can be fixed. The staff at Best Western treated us like family. They welcomed us in let us check out late and even gave us a ride back to pick up our car. OK, so I'll admit that I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder when I arrived. Having family in the area (and a vacation house about 50 miles away) I was not happy about having to stay in any hotel, much less a Best Western. I've never had much luck at Best Westerns. Upon arrival, we were greeted (after ringing the bell at the front desk) by a young lady who got us checked-in very quickly. We headed up the stairs to our room. Yes, arms full of luggage, 6 year old, and small dog - it would have been great to have been notified that there was an elevator. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of odor on the way to the room. Most motels either smell of old smoke and/or cleaning products. The Best Western Scenic Hill Resort reeked of neither. I suppose it was built post-smoking era. Anyway, the first cleanliness impression was a good one. Upon entering the room, I was surprised to find out that there was no hide-a-bed sofa to go along with the king bed as I had (or at least thought I had) requested. The room was small. There was only a chair/ottoman next to the bed along with the usual desk and dresser/TV stand. Before we got totally unpacked, I visited the front desk, rang the bell, and asked about sleeping arrangements for our 6 year old - explaining that I thought I was told there was a sofa-bed. The clerk typed away for a few seconds and then handed me 2 new key cards. "I went ahead and upgraded your room since your reservations was messed up. You now have a slightly bigger room with the sofa bed and a Jacuzzi. I'm sorry for the confusion" she said before returning to wherever she goes to wait for the next bell ring. In any event, I was just looking for a roll-away or something. The upgrade was a nice surprise. The new room was much more suitable for our needs and served as a good base of operations for the next couple of days. No surprises as far as the room went, although the Jacuzzi was pretty small (it was also the bathtub) and went unused during our stay. The room cleaner did an outstanding job! Our little girl's sofa-bed was nicely made for her and her blanket from home and "Pinky the elephant" were nicely arranged when we returned to the room. Our little girl really got a kick out of it. The breakfast each morning was pretty good; waffles, biscuits and gravy, fruit, cold cereals, coffee, and a nice selection of juices were all available. My daughter also had a great time in their pool. It was clean and well-maintained. There was also a hot tub outside that we did not try out. Winter storm Goliath was headed our way, so rather than risk getting stuck up there, we ended up leaving a day early. I had booked and paid for the room through an online discount site, so I didn't even ask the front desk for a refund of the remaining night. My past experience was that I would have to contact the online retailer and then they would reach out to the property. So, imagine my surprise when I got a call from the online site literally 5 minutes after notifying the front desk. The man on the phone informed me that the motel had contacted them and proactively given them permission to refund the unused night. I hadn't even finished eating my second biscuit and gravy helping and it was already taken care of! A lot of little things can be forgiven when good customer service is employed. However, at the Best Western Scenic Hills Resort, that EXCELLENT customer service was packaged in a clean, quiet, and very well-run establishment. I would very much recommend staying there and will do so in the future. Now about the "scenic hill" and calling it a "resort"? Eh, never mind - don't worry about it. read more

BED BUGS! They know about it and do nothing. Stayed one night last week and woke up with 25-30 bites on my arms, legs and neck. Shook one pillow and out came a bed bug. I looked no further! Discretely took it the front desk. Found dried blood on my sheets (none on my nightgown) AND on the sheets of the other bed!! While we didn't check out the pool area, we stayed in a regular king size room on the first floor. We were lucky there were no rowdy neighbors, because the walls were very thin. We could hear footsteps from above, doors slamming in the hall, people talking in the lobby, toilets flushing, etc. The breakfast area was nice and there were some great amenities. Just wish it was quieter and that the beds were more comfy. read more

When my family went to check in, the man at the desk did not end his phone call with the IT man. We waited for more than 5 minutes until another family came in and he finally told who he was talking to that he'd have to call him back later. He didn't apologize for that. We get checked in after our scheduled check in time only to go to our room to find it unclean and not ready for our arrival. Went back down to the front desk and excuses were made as to why our room hadn't been cleaned. "There was an inspection so other rooms had to be cleaned first." I have a pool membership at this location. The pool is clean and well cared for. The membership includes two water aerobics classes a week and our instructor is excellent. I made reservations a month prior to my stay and wondered why I had not received an email confirmation... 1.) My name was horribly misspelled so the email never made it to me. I called to verify our room and was told yes there is a room in your name. I again asked for an email confirmation that I never received...I assumed all was well because They found my reservation when I spoke to the manor phone so I didn't think there Would-be a problem upon Check-In. 2.)When I arrived at the hotel the reservation was for only one night it was a complete debacle from there moving on... Our room had not been cleaned... beds a mess. Pillows on the floor. The clerk at the front desk was a new employee. One week on the job. She said she would call housekeeping and have the room cleaned. We said we would go for dinner. An hour and a half later Jennifer called us. She had cleaned the room herself. 3.) When we arrived back to our room...there were NO blankets. Only sheets. We asked Jennifer for blankets...she said the hotel had none. NO BLANKETS...ONLY SHEETS... I asked for extra sheets to create a layer go my sister from Florida... Jennifer said there were no more sheets available...which led us to check our sheets...OMG.... the sheets on our bed were NOT CLEAN. and no other sheets were available...Jennifer was at the point of tears...and then explained she was the ONLY HOTEL EMPLOYEE PRESENT and her GM Jimi Jo was NOT answering her phone calls and she didn't know what else to do. We asked for shampoo as our room only had 2 body lotions and 1 conditioner. She gave us 1 shampoo and 1 conditioner... hmmm. Cheap? Wouldn't 2 people need shampoo...not just One? THE WiFi signal is so weak I had to use my Data. THE coffee at breakfast was horribly weak and they put one tray of bacon (A quarter hotel pan) when asked if there would be more food coming...I was told that was it for the breakfast. OMG... this hotel is completely booked and there is only 4p pieces of bacon??? You will NOT be accommodated on your stay here. Dirty rooms. Only one elderly woman on staff all night. Hardly any food at their free breakfast. Poor signal strength WI-FI and an absent GM. I am telling everyone at my family reunion to Never recommend the BW Scenic Hill Resort or BE Scenic Motel. read more

Indoor pool has Been in disrepair for years. Hot tub works every other month and it's not up to his current state of health care codes. Either the pool or hot tub works right now as of mid July. Breakfast is hit and miss. Rooms are OK but definitely not worth 259 a night for like $99. Day spa has been close for years. Conference center downstairs is only used once and while for only small groups like weight watchers. Kitchen in the main conference room nonworking and does not have a dishwasher or refrigerator. Fridges in the rooms are old and make a lot of noise. And the coffee maker did not work in room. Housekeeping staff is loud enough noxious from 9:00 AM the banging on doors yelling housekeeping. Front desk staff was pleasant but non-trained. No management present. Hot water for showers in room is hit and miss. Goes from hot to cold depending on the time of day. Had a great experience. We stayed there while we were on vacation. We love Frankfort but, being such a small town, it has very limited options for overnight stay. We picked the Best Western because it is only about 15-20 minutes away from Frankfort. We were very pleased with how clean and up-to-date the hotel is. Our room and bathroom were spotless. The pool was very clean and well taken care of. The breakfast was great. Only complaint is that we had to ask for more bread for toast, more creamer, and more danishes since there were none when we came down to breakfast. It seemed like the staff person should have had some help. She was very helpful and apologetic though when we asked. The rest of the staff was great too. Altogether it was a great stay and we would recommend it to anyone staying in that area. read more
