Took my daughter here to see Jurassic World this past Wednesday night. Plenty of parking available. Cashier took care of us quickly with our tickets and refreshments. We really enjoyed the sound system in the theater. Made the movie come alive...Definitely our go to theater when we are in town for vacation! read more

Movie Watchers Beware- $18 is pretty ridiculous to get in per person, but beware when purchasing the large $8 free refill drink, as they will not refill it if they don't want to. My two kids went and watched a movie with a friend ($54 total) and then they went to get a refill and they said they'd done cleaned up for the night. 9 p.m. and they can't get a refill. $16 for two drinks.The manager says they'd shut concession down about an hour after the last show starts, but the theater still had a listing for another movie at 9:40. Manager unwilling to make right. $70 for three kids tickets and two drinks that they wouldn't honor refills on. Avoid this theater! read more

The theater does not know how to project a movie. I went to the theater to see Nosferatu and it was a horrible experience. For one, the theater turned on subtitles. Something that isn't bad on its own, but nothing on the website indicated that they do subtitles some days. The worst part however is that the picture was cut off during the whole movie. A portion of the bottom and top of the screen were not visible. When the employees were made aware of this, they said that only the subtitles were cut off, and not the actual movie. They were either wrong, or just lied about it. Either way, the employees didn't seem to do anything to fix the problem. If it's any indication as to how much the theater sucked, I never wrote on yelp once until visiting this theater. Bottom Line: A great theater for the market it serves. We needed to escape the sun and pass some time on a hot Sunday afternoon so we ventured to this ten screen movie theater in Kill Devil Hills. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised by the stadium seating, comfortable seats, friendly staff and reasonably clean bathroom. No, this isn't the state-of-the-art theater with fully reclining leather armchairs and seat-side cocktail service that many of us have come accustomed to but it was certainly adequate for a theater in the Outer Banks. There is plenty of parking and a snack bar but I didn't visit the latter. I'm not a big movie goer but I wouldn't hesitate to visit this theater again. read more

Seeing as I'm an old school SOB and contrarian by nature the appeal of this theatre grows on me more with each visit and more with each inept/ego filled/entitled/snow flake review that I read on this listing. Indeed 1995 called and it wants its movie theatre back. Come here expecting that and you'll be alright. Maybe at some point, but more than likely never, you'll see some type of hyper-modern 77 screen mega plex in this area. But honestly, aside of a few busy months a year, why would anyone make that investment and for what purpose? I've been here twice and each time the theatre was maybe 1/2 full even though in this case the movie, Jumanji, had just opened within the last week and it was on a weekend. I didn't partake in any concessions this visit but then again I almost never do concessions anywhere. God bless if you can piss away money like that and if you do can you're in a much higher tax bracket than me. Honestly if you show up to a movie theatre starving and thinking you're going to hoe down on a great meal you're truly a twit. It's a damn movie theatre! What did you think you were going to get? Hank Azaria from The Bird Cage accent and all serving you Lobster Thermidor and Foie Gras flatbread with a nice Chianti on the side. (If that ever appears somewhere by the way, the three of you who read this far will know where you saw it first.) The seating here is actually not horrendous. It's what I would call 2nd generation stadium seating. It's not first generation where you would have tiered rows but the seats had no give. These seats are at least still somewhat soft and they do have some give/tilt to them which should be more than enough for the average person. Let's keep it simple: There is no reserved seating. Come early if a specific spot matters. They do offer matinee pricing. It's steep at $9 but don't lie and say they don't when clearly they do. There are no recliners where you can go horizontal. Indeed you cannot get tickets via Fandango but you can buy in advance via movietickets.com. I know because I did it even though it wound up being completely unnecessary. Indeed in winter you will have to go to the snack counter to buy your tickets and anything else you might need. Of course this backs up everything beyond belief but what did you really expect at a place like this anyway? Skip the 3rd rate arcade. Skip the overpriced edibles. If you're paranoid, buy your tickets online in advance (when it gets cold the outside kiosks will not work and you'll get those at the concession counter but don't forget to bring the same card you bought the tickets with or else no tickets for you) or else be smart and just show up a few minutes early and 99% of the time you'll be fine. read more

Paid $70 for three tickets, 2 drinks, and a popcorn just for the movie to cut out twice while watching. The seat booking also said some seats were taken that were not actually taken. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Pretty decent theater. They have $9 matinee prices and $11 regular prices. The theater is pretty fair for its price and has an arcade of games like Star Wars and Jurassic Park. I have never tried the conflcessions the times I've gone. The theater rooms are numbered and don't list which movie so don't get creative thinking you'll sneak into another movie. Film quality is good but can be a bit blurry in spots on the big screen. Always a tradition of ours to visit when in OBX. read more

Don't let the old reviews fool you, nothing is wrong with this theater. And the have super comfortable RECLINING seats.

It's a little hard to judge this one. As I think that they do well for what they have. 10 theaters and a nice size snack bar. The theaters are pretty large and have many seats. Umm I think it might be under different management since the last time o was there. Clean as far as a theater goes but it was terribly hot in the theater. We asked twice for them to turn the air down. I asked folks around me if they we're hot also and they were so that's what prompted the second complaint. Pretty average movie theater. I got my tickets online and got in quickly, waiting in a short line. The movie was great, but the seats were uncomfortable. The theater itself seems a bit outdated, but it is perfect to visit during rainy days. The tickets were 9$ each for the movie I saw, and I was pleased with the amount. read more

Overall this theater was ok. I don't think I've ever had to buy my tickets at the concession stand but no big deal. The customer service was nonexistent as none of workers seemed very interested in being there. Also, I thought the $9 matinee price was a little steep. Nevertheless, the movie theaters were nice and big and the chairs reclined which made the movie experience comfortable. The bathrooms were nice and clean also. This theater offers a no frills experience and gets the job done. Just wish it were a bit more affordable and customer service was more pleasant. read more

Like other posters, we made the mistake of purchasing tickets online. But unlike other cinemas, that doesn't get you a ticket, and there's nowhere to go to get your ticket. They make online ticketholders wait in line with everyone else. That means we didn't get to choose seats as easily, and the movie had already started when we got inside! When we complained to the manager, the first time he walked away as we were talking to him. The second time, he insisted there was nothing he could do. My wife and I visited OBX for our 2nd anniversary, and decided to go see Deadpool one afternoon. Of course, the only theater in the area was this one, so this is where we went. First off, I will say, the movie experience itself was... well, it was fine. It wasn't anything mind-blowing. The seats were comfortable, the screen was average, the sound was decent. It was... fine. Based on the movie-going experience alone, I'd probably give it a 3 or 4 star. However, the two things that made me knock off stars: 1. I get that things in OBX are a little slower. Fashion, design, and tech trends don't tend to hit OBX in the way they hit the majority of the country. Wood paneling, floral sofas, and glass blocks still seem to be the hotness around here. That said, this place looked like it hasn't had a facelift since 1993. Bright pink neon lights, old, repurposed game machines dealing out iPod knockoffs... it just made me feel like this place wasn't cared for. 2. My wife and I were starving when we went, but we didn't really want popcorn. We ordered some chicken tenders and pizza. Yes, it was overpriced, but we were at a movie theater, so that's to be expected. However, that had to have been the worst food I've eaten since the elementary school cafeteria. And it was obvious they didn't have the facilities (save for one small microwave) to make anything, as it took close to 15 minutes (I'm glad we were early for our movie!). However, don't promote your pizza as a round-style pizza that looks one way, and serve me up a square slice of something that's practically grey. Or your chicken tenders in a light that makes them look crispy when they're really just... well... microwaved. We'll come back here if we're ever in the area again and want to catch a movie (mainly because there is no other option), but we'll certainly skip on the food. read more

Has a nice selection of films but the quality of the theatre is sub-par. I go to the theatre about every other week and find that certain theatre rooms have really good sound while others have ones where speech is drowned out by music. Not sure how sound setups work, but something is not equalized right when I struggle to hear people talk but then have my ears blown when a background track is played. Also, the theater rooms are not too well insulated, allowing you to hear the base and noise from the next door movies. I also hate our 3d projectors as they have a slight blur at the bottom of the screen. This blur is especially noticeable during sub titles and credits. At first I believed the projector was out of focus, but for the past year, all their 3d films have had this issue. The movie food is yummy, especially the nachos with cheese and jalapeños! Plus they have White Castle burgers, so that adds a star right there. All in all, it's an ok theatre and it's also the only megaplex on the island, so it's not like you have a choice if you want to see a film on the big screen. read more

We just saw Home. I enjoyed the show because it was the right decibel level for everyone. Many movie theaters now turn the volume up so loud it takes away from the movie. The seats were comfortable and the place was very clean. We had a very nice time. read more

Rainy day in the middle of a rainy week, so we expected a crowd. Turns out you buy tickets and food in the same line. Said line was out the door. After waiting for over twenty minutes to buy tickets we were informed both of the movies we wanted to see were sold out. Apparently they have NO means of telling customers the movies are sold out without having them stand in line for over twenty minutes. read more

Purchased tickets online to make sure we would get in to see Ad Astra, then when we went to the theater we were told we would have to wait it line behind approx 30 folks purchasing tickets AND buying concessions to pick up paper tickets & enter the movie. Most ridiculous thing I have ever run across. We had to pay extra to get the tickets online & then still had to wait in line. Totally defeated the purpose of buying advance tickets! The gentleman I spoke to in concessions was also very hateful about the situation. I definitely won't be returning to this theater read more
