This is by far the best Cinema Cafe location I've been to in Hampton Roads. The theaters are clean, the service is quick, and they consistently have a great selection of new movies playing. My husband and I love a dinner-and-a-movie date night, so having everything in one place is perfect for us. The reclining chairs are super comfortable, especially once you've eaten and can just settle back and relax during the movie. The menu is pretty basic, but that's expected for a movie theater, and it still has some solid options. Some of my favorites are the coconut shrimp and the hot honey pizza. Not the cleanest cinema cafe, a bit outdated but I've noticed they have been making improvements off and on. Never have had a real issue at this location, a mistake here or there but nothing I'd cry about. Majority of the time our services are great. Only thing I do dislike is they won't make the limited drinks that are alcoholic non-alcoholic so when my kids or I want the cute little limited item they come with I have to buy the drink and it truly just goes to waste. Clean theaters, great seats, and excellent service! We had never been to a cinema cafe before, but are very happy with our first experience! The seats and theaters are clean, everything felt very new. Our waiter (I believe his name is Evan) was so nice, quick, and helpful! We were in row 3, which was a little bit too close to the screen for our taste, however the seats recline so your view is not obstructed. We didn't mind row 3, but next time we will go further back. The food and tickets were decently priced, we were very happy with that. The food quality was a little bit better than regular concession food. Our food was lukewarm, but very large portions. I'm a big Cinema Café fan! I used to really love the Hampton Cinema Café, and I still miss it so much since they closed down. I wish they would open back up one day. Now I travel to Chesapeake to go to the Edinburgh Cinema Café, and I really enjoy it there. I love their reclining seats and the great menu -- they've got everything from pizzas and combos to hamburgers, Philly steaks, salads, pretzels, floats, and even alcoholic drinks. Their popcorn with cheese sauce for dipping is one of my favorites! The workers are always friendly, and the whole movie-going experience is just relaxing and fun every time I go. The only thing I miss compared to the Hampton location is the arcade area. I used to love shooting basketballs and playing video games before the movie. This new one feels more grown-up and upscale -- definitely more geared toward adults, even though they still play plenty of kids' movies. Went to Edinburgh cinema Café. This is our normal spot that we always go to. When we chose the seats online they were all red when we finally got to the movie theater. The seats had buttons, but the seats wouldn't recline so my best friend went and talked to the manager, and the manager said oh if you're on that level, none of the seats were reclined he would not come into the movie theater to find out which seats we were actually in because our seats weren't plugged in our seats didn't even light up like the rest of our row, but everybody in our row seat were kind big problem. Then we ordered chicken quesadillas. Oh my God that was the most uncut sloppily thrown together. chewy chicken quesadilla I have ever had in my life. I asked for no peppers I wanted extra onions. Then it came with a side of red beans and rice. It looked like they just scooped a cup of rice and put 30 black beans on top and then threw some cilantro on top. It had no flavor at all. I don't even know what I paid my money for. I got cheese chicken no onions then I asked was the coffee fresh. The young lady said yes brought me burnt coffee not five things of half-and-half wouldn't even lighten this coffee up sent that back. Then my daughter wanted me to bring home. Out of all of the Cinema Cafes in the area, this is probably my favorite one to go to. The theater is huge and very easy to navigate. The recliners feel more comfortable than other the other cafes and I really like how they have all the condiments and napkins located on the side of the recliners. I always order the fries and it's nice to have enough ketchup for the amount they give you! The price of the food is moderate. Some foods are hit and some are a miss, it's all about the person. My husband loves to drink during movies, so he loves to order the special drinks which change every couple months, so there is always a new special drink for him to try. Overall this theater is spacious and the service is quick. The quality of the movie and seats are excellent. If you are new to the area, tickets are a reasonable price and this place is worth giving a chance. No more fiddling with small, messy S/P/ketchup packets in the dark, or having to ask for them during the show. The shakers, ketchup bottle, and napkins are now so conveniently right where you need them! Food trays are definitely better: larger, lower, and with a built in deep cup holder that keeps the large cups out of the way. We've always had wonderful service there too, and that has only gotten better. This location is our family's' go to theater! The service always takes a lil longer now for whatever reason. They tend to make sure you have everything you need overall! Food is fresh and hot on arrival majority of the time. This particular night we just snacked instead of ordering entrees. I do love the fact of eating while watching a good movie. The cinema our movie was being shown in was clean and smelled of cleaning product upon walking inside. A major plus for me! My fam and I went to Cinema Cafe (CC) in Edinburgh to watch Avatar: The Way of the Water in 3D. We had been to the Kempsville location many moons ago when we were stationed here the first round. We didn't have such a great experience back then, but the great reviews on here convinced me to give CC another shot. - Theatre - Tickets & Pricing: I don't go to movie theatres very often, but I was so surprised at how cheap the tickets were! Is it just me? I just remember going to the movies back home in Montreal at least 10 years ago, and I remember paying at least $14, but maybe that was because it was in CAD LOL? Anyway, cheap tickets! No complaints here. I purchased the tickets online and I got the email confirmation very quickly. You are able to pick your seats at the time of purchase. We arrived for the first show of the day. No one was around at the reception, so it seemed like a self check-in. I just had to scan our tickets at the kiosks on either side and the little paper tickets pop out. Reclining seats - The seats were pretty comfortable and there are button controls for both the footrest and back. One of the things that I observed was that the swivel tabletop I thought was slightly a little too high for the height of the chair. - Concessions - There is table side service all throughout the movie. If you need your server, you just have to push the button on the seats between footrests. Our server was very prompt and attentive. Kids Combo - The kids combo comes with popcorn, drink, and fruit snacks. Chicken nachos - This basket of nachos was a pretty big portion. It was chips, chicken, salsa and cheese. It wasn't the greatest, but it was good. Brownie sundae - big portion also. Served in a large margarita glass bowl. All in all, the theatre was pretty well maintained, the tickets were very affordable, and the food was decent. Nice to have more substantial food options while watching a 3 hour movie! This is our "go to" cinema cafe. They usually do a wonderful job. I want to say the same for this visit but I can't. We were in the smallest theater and it was not even filled to 50%. We got in early and our server took our orders. We ordered a small popcorn, brownie sundae, gyro, and coconut shrimp. I'm not sure what happened but our food literally took almost 40 minutes to come out. Our fries were cold, my coleslaw's lid was cracked and hanging off the soufflé cup. Went here last night to see Is God Is. My Visa giftcard had $50 on it. My total was $30.08. The waitress charged my giftcard for an additional $13.90 for no reason. Her and manager came back with another bill saying that I didn't have enough on my card. The manager made up some story about visa giftcards take out extra fees for "gratuity." I use giftcards all the time because I don't like to use credit cards or bank cards at restaurant due to fraud and I have never had extra fees taken out. I got the card back from the manager and pulled up the card balance on my phone with her next to me. It showed were cinemas cafe took out the $30.08 and $13.90. The manager looked stupid and apologized. They actually stole money from me. I will never go back to this location. Also over heard the same waitress apologizing to another guest because she rang up someone else's order on her card by mistake. Just moved here and the kids have been wanting to try cinema cafe after we saw one driving around and it was recommended by coworkers. Chairs are nice, service was pretty fast but we ordered 4 chicken tender meals (2 three piece and 2 four piece) that came with fries, also got some pretzel bites and some drinks that cost us $104. The chicken for all 4 of us was absolutely inedible. So overcooked, dry and big chewy parts like jerky texture that we could not eat it and it also tasted like old frying oil. The fries weren't anything special, they're like the cheapest crinkle cut fries you'd find in the freezer section at a grocery store, but the only thing my kids ended up eating because they were very hungry since this meal was supposed to be their dinner. I wasn't about to spend even more on what I suspected would be equally as bad. We don't eat fast food or highly processed food often, it's more like a treat for the kids when we travel or go do something new. So they really look forward to it when they get it. This is the only place we've ever been in all our years of travels and moving around that we got food that was this bad and actually inedible. Husband said his pretzel bites were just okay. Tickets for the movie itself are a great price and the chairs are awesome but considering we spent 2x as much on the food, which was the main reason we wanted to try this theater and even took seats in a bad spot relative to the screen because we were really hoping it would've been worth it but the food is overpriced and was terrible, or in our case inedible. It ruined the experience for my youngest in particular because he was the most excited compared to my teen. Tickets bought online so we did the self check in and headed right in. Rounding the corner into the theater, there were two single seats which is a bit weird because you could bump into them if someone is reclined. Honestly the seats weren't my favorite, specifically the leg part. Maybe because of how it was in 3 sections vs 1 unit. "Peaches, peaches, peaches, I love you," rang out from all over the audience. The adults and children were totally into it. Fun! The seating in the theatre is comfy, and the tables that they provide attached to each one are very roomy, easy for adults and children to use. We ordered pizzas, wings, popcorn, beverages, and nachos. The food was good. Typical movie fare served with a flair. The taste of the pizza was surprisingly good. Wings disappeared quickly. The service was great. The prices were high, but going to the movies has always been a special occasion. This cinema cafe makes the outing a special, comfortable, and memorable event. I can't believe this is the first time I have been after living 5 minutes away. The lobby was a lot smaller than I thought from looking outside. The outside patio looked like a lovely place to hangout, not sure if it's ever used. They have a good size bar and tables in the lobby. The tickets say arrive 30 minutes early, but the theater room was not cleaned yes so a large line formed waiting to get in. The computer in the font where you scan your phone for your tickets is easy and convenient. Even though it was a sold out movie services was very fast. Food came out right as movie started. We ordered the cheese sticks- they were delicious the Marinara sauce was just ok wasn't a fan of the flavor. The jumbo chicken tenders and fries are always so good! You get such a great amount. The nachos were delicious with a very good amount! Would get again. Only down was we asked for a box and never received one. And the cleaning of the room before our movie wasn't that great. I already experience enough racism from people here in the 757 but never would I imagine I'd experience it here at the movies. I went to sit down at my seat to watch the new Thunderbolts movie and as I did an entire row of black people looked at me judgmentally. Not even 5 minutes into the ads one woman in the group said "I didn't think we'd have a cracker in our row" followed by her entire group getting up and leaving the movie.
