I…read morehave 2 boys (2 and 3) and I have been a stay at home mom since I was pregnant with my first. I have never left them with anyone outside of immediate family, and even then, there were a select few with strict privileges. I wasn't crazy about the busy location at first, however once I stepped inside- wow! They have put our kids learning at the forefront of their minds! They are allowed to play with slime, water, birdseed, paint.... everything I WANT my kids to play with but it's in a controlled environment so I don't have to worry about it destroying my house. ; ) They have lesson plans and meal plans (geared towards our kids and homemade ) and the sisters who run this facility, along with all of the teachers I have met, are top notch. I love their reasons for starting this daycare, i love their interactions with my shy children and I love the comfort level they give me as a parent leaving their child for the first time. I drive 53 mInutes a day to take my kids here, and I will do it every day to get this level of care!

I enrolled both of my kids at Building Blocks Academy for 5 days and that was clearly a mistake…read more The directors are rude, have zero understanding, and little to no technique for problem solving. Amani's teacher was discribed by my 4 year old as "mean". I came to the office this morning and expressed a concern about how his teacher actually spoke to ME. If this lady is talking to me in that tone or manner, as an adult that can speak clearly and intelligently, I can only imagine how she speaks to my son. None the less, never lost my cool, spoke to her in the same tone she spoke and walked to the office and told the director what happened. All owners, directors, and a worker, not only bypassed my concern but their attitude was so nonshalant about it. Even later said "well do we teach our kids that when someone is mean to you you are to be mean back?, you shouldn't have spoke to her like that back." Whaaaat? Sorry not sorry I teach them to treat people the way they treat you plus I pay you hun, you respect me and my child. I couldn't help but get upset. I left the kids to go home and look for other centers and not even an hour later, I get a call from ELC AND them saying they DE ENROLLED my kids and today would be their last day. In 5 days I saw a lot I didn't like, such as this morning in Damian's 2/3 year old class, there's a child with special needs on the lap of the assistant teacher, they were sitting on the floor but he kept throwing himself backwards, she was telling him to stop, but like with her teeth clinched, so when he didn't stop she plopped his legs off her, said "get off me" and grabbed another child to put on her lap. I was like wow... Told them that; surprise, surprise! they didn't care about that either. Ha. So now, I believe these teachers do what they want with your kids whether they enjoy their job or not and if they kiss enough ass they keep their jobs, if not they probably boot em. Hopeful that most of them like what they do... No idea, all I know is that if you don't mind people getting a little out of tone with you, talking to your kids in any kind of way they feel like or being disrespected then go for it. Does have a great ciriculum, however, this place handles situations way out of hand and has no respect for parents that pay in advance, has not been late once yet and is brand new to the place. Not to mention, I had to leave work early the other day because they didn't know how or couldn't figure out how to handle or console my 2 YEAR OLD. They seemed upset they had to stop what they were doing to help the teacher take care of him. Day 2, his teacher just threw him in a corner by himself after she thought I left because he was crying and when I came back down she looked spooked. I didn't even say anything at that point, I just tried to work with them so he would be better and not have to be dealt with in that manner. I'm so upset how today was handled. My kids were removed from their school because their teacher didn't know how to speak politely and then took offense when spoken to in the same manner. They said a parent was in the class, called to complain, but that's funny how did a parent call to complain when all kids were supposed to be there by 9am? No one was in front of me, no one was in the room, and no one was behind us. So they lied to ELC stating they had a parent complain and the whole class was terrified of me, but said to me when I mentioned I'd lose my voucher if I couldn't find a facility within the allotted period.. "I know and called with that thought in mind." .. Lovely, how petty. Everything happens for a reason I guess, but this place is horribly ran and will tell you all their reviews are for building blocks academy 2.... right. I BET they are, however all the bad reviews have your buildings picture on them or described the cypress garden center's exact mannerisms and behaviors. NEVER would I recommend this place.

This place is great and super helpful and attentive as long as they are still expecting more money…read morefrom you. But, as soon as you finish paying off your balance it all seems to go downhill. I paid over $2000 to have my daughter tutored over the summer to prepare for the ACT. After paying for the last few weeks her schedule was worked out for her to go 3 hours a week, two days a week. We made a plan (and scheduled) for her to take her final prep test on a Monday, so she could then spend her last two days (Tuesday and Thursday) going over any last minute problems that were found during the final prep test and the have Friday off before taking the real test on Saturday. The problems started when she had two weeks left to go. Apparently they are closed the entire week of Labor day and failed to tell me that when we were scheduling her hours. So after that week, she had 3 hours that I already paid for that were going to have to be made up during her last week. Ok, no problem, she can just go for 3 hours on Tuesday and 3 hours on Thursday to make it up. Monday, the day of the final prep test gets here and my daughter goes in to take her test. I show up about two hours into it to wait for her to get done so we can go over her results (I was told by Yvette that she would be there to score the test so we could see what needed to be reviewed with her on Tuesday and Thursday). I wait for over an hour, just to find out that Yvette is not there to score the test. I called later and was assured that they would have the results the following day. On Tuesday morning I called to see if it would be ok if we switched the schedule to Wednesday and Thursday instead of Tuesday and Thursday because we had something come up. Yvette was not there, but I spoke to someone who said she was one of the co-owners (I think she said her name was Christine) who put me on hold to look at the schedule and speak to the tutors and came back and told me that Wednesday would be fine and that she would make the schedule change. On Wednesday my daughter went in and apparently had to spent the first hour with Yvette instead of the tutor, because the tutor had too many students (even though this was allegedly cleared the day before.) Then my daughter sends me a message and says that her final prep test STILL has not been graded. So Wednesday is a complete waste of time because we have no idea what last minute things she should be reviewing. I called Yvette again and ask if she is going to have the test graded before Thursday so it could be used for the final tutoring session. She then tells me that Hannah does not have anymore scheduled sessions and that her time is up at the conclusion of the current session!! Thankfully I kept a spread sheet of what I paid and for which weeks and was able to show her that Hannah did in fact have 3 more hours and that SHE had scheduled us through Thursday. I'm then told that because of the mistake, she does not have any tutors scheduled to come in on Thursday and it will have to be Friday (so much for the day off before taking the test). So we arrange for my daughter to go in on Friday for three hours AND THE FINAL PREP TEST STILL IS NOT GRADED! I tried calling and got no answer. Text my daughter and find out that Yvette is not there again (The tutors apparently cannot grade the tests). So we finished up tutoring with no idea of whether it helped or not, and no idea if she is really ready to take the test! My daughter was supposed to take the test the following morning, but was in a car accident on the way there and was not able to attend. Now the test is a month away, so I would like to know how she did to see if there are things we should be working on. I have called 4 times since then and left a voicemail message each time to inquire about the test results. Two weeks later no one has called me. The funny thing is, they probably could have gotten a few hundred dollars more out of me for the extra month she now has to prepare, but they can't even take the time to grade a test or call me back!!
