It is a rustic, outdoorsy camp, no cell phones allowed here! Camp Mah-Kah-Wee is a Girl Scout camp. They offer programs throughout they year for girls and have overnight camps during the summer. I have been to Mah-Kah-Wee many times over the years with my daughters, and I really appreciate that we have a facility like this so close to home. The camp surrounds a lake so there are many water activities like canoeing and kayaking available during the summer. There is also a swimming pool. They offer all of the standard camp activities like archery and crafts and they also have an obstacle course. My kids love this place. During the summer the week-long camps are themed so you can find something to match your child's interests. As for the facilities, the best place to stay is in the cabins. They have air conditioning! In Florida you NEED air conditioning in the summer. I've also chaperoned overnights in the tents, which aren't so bad, and a building they call the Eco Center, which is a bit more like a enclosed porch... no AC there. Overall, it's a great place. I highly recommend it. The prices for overnight camp are very good and the kids have a great time.

All you receive after setting up swim lessons is a receipt. No itinerary, no list of supplies, they…read moreexpect you to run on assumptions. Arrive and the front desk is chaos. They "check you in" tell you where to go. Get to the pool and they have signs out for the swim lessons but no one attending to them. The class we arrived for didn't take place where the sign was and we were virtually late. Kiddo didn't do well and the instructor he had kept looking to the other lady he was with for help, but she was already with four other kids. So we went to the front desk to talk options. Front desk lady made snide remarks about kids and exposure to water like she must be parent of the year. Calls over the "Aquatics Director" who can't be more than 20 years old, how much experience running a business can he have? Personally supplies phone number to do parent/child, still doesn't give any clear itinerary or confirmation. Ended up with a schedule conflict for what I assumed was my time block and had to request just the partial refund for the classes that will be missed due to readiness level. The text was ignored. I'm sure they're happy to keep the 100$ but they won't be getting any more money from me and hopefully I can save others from paying, those who feel better at a new place being informed and where employees show care about the people who are paying for their services. Don't go here. There are other nice places or services to get swim lessons.

Two thumbs up for Ninja Obstacle Academy! We did my son's 7th birthday party there today & it was…read moregreat! My son likes Ninja Warrior, but we hadn't ever been to this place prior to the party. I can definitely say we will be going back! We had the 12 kid package, but they have a larger package available if you are wanting to invite more kids. It was a great price, which includes two hours of fun & 30 minutes of set up beforehand. The party room is upstairs & you have the upstairs area & obstacles all to yourself during the party time. They start by warming the kids up, then they guide them through obstacle courses for an hour or so, then to the party room for whatever food/cake you bring for about 15 minutes, then open gym for the last 45 minutes. The workers were wonderful! They did a great job handling a bunch of first graders. They helped the kids on all the obstacles, if they needed assistance. Other than the set up (30 minutes before the party) & helping with food/cake when they are in the room, the staff handled the rest. You can bring whatever food you'd like! It's about 5 minutes away from Millenia Costco, so we ordered pizzas, which was convenient to pick up. Would definitely recommend for your kiddo's birthday party!

A little background, I'm…read moredefinitely not a ninja myself, but I do frequently go to the gym and try to stay active when I can. I've been to ninja gyms a couple times in Houston and Dallas. When we came in, there was absolutely no one there so we had the entire place to ourselves! Robin, one of the trainers, was extremely helpful in giving us the layout of the gym and answered any questions we had. This place is huge and has a ton of obstacles! There's a kids/beginner section upstairs, which we started at. We then moved on to the ground floor which had all the fun stuff. They have almost every obstacle from the American Ninja Warrior TV show, from the wing nuts to the warped wall. They even have the mega wall (18 ft tall I believe)! I will say, I wish there was the bouncing spider obstacle, but I wouldn't be surprised if they rotate out other obstacles every now and then. Maybe it just wasn't that when I went. Most obstacles are padded so when you fall you don't hurt yourself. There were also extra pads you're able to move around for extra cushion. This gym is every Ninja's dream, both kids and adults alike. I'd even go as far to recommend this place for regular active adults looking for something fun to do in the Orlando area. You might not be able to do everything, but hey, if you aren't falling, you aren't having fun. For open gym, it's $20 per person, which is pretty standard for ninja gyms and we spent about an hour and a half here. Pro tip: come on a Saturday morning. You'll have the whole gym to yourself.

I live really close to this beautiful, well-maintained, and secluded property! How close, you ask?…read moreWell, I can drive my golf cart to it! It's been around for a very long time, since 1939 in this location. It really has two faces- Face #1 is that it is a Christian camp for young folks. I can't speak to this as my little munchkin is now in her forties and lives in Denver! Face #2 is a venue for corporate retreats, large social gatherings, extended family reunions, generally rentals of all types. This review speaks to these kinds of experiences. Let's get into the details- Location- Nestled behind citrus groves and on beautiful Lake Trout, they are about a 1 mile from US Route 27 just after you cross the northern Highlands County line. Signage is good and they are a snap to find. Visiting- You can't just stop by as others may be occupying the site. Check their website and reach out to arrange a tour. Facilities- It's a 25-acre site! For single-day events they can handle about 150 folks. If your needs include an overnight stay that is absolutely possible. For that, they can sleep about 120. They can supply food, or you can arrange your own. For you corporate team-building types, they have the ubiquitous rope courses, both high and low, and other related stuff. With 25 acres, they can afford to diversify. It turns out they have quite a reputation as a wedding venue! Pro Tip- Alcohol, tobacco, and firearms are prohibited. I realize some events might typically include beer & wine. That's not gonna happen here. Expect nicely maintained infrastructure with plenty of shade from our famously hot Florida sun! Staff- I've attended a couple of events here and they have been top notch! If you have this type of need in Central Florida, these fine folks should absolutely be on your list for consideration.
