Gulzar is a lovely person, and very talented too! I called on a Thursday morning to ask to get henna (mehndi) done for my hands for a religious festival happening the same day, and she was able to get me in the same morning. Went in just before noon, and walked out an hour and half later with really pretty work on my hands. It was hard to believe she did it free hand. The work on my left hand with the leaves.. so pretty! Good conversationiat to pass time too, haha. She also got a bunch of clients walking in and calling for appointments, clearly had a good reputation for her work! Totally recommend. read more

I walked in on my lunch break to get my eyebrows threaded and had a great experience. Gulzar took me right away and was so sweet and gentle. She did a great job and was careful to not make my eyebrows too thin. She gave me tips on how to care for my eyebrows better and was very intentional with making sure I was happy with the result. I noticed this business while driving through Delmar with my husband and was super excited because I had been wanting some henna on my hand. After looking up the business on yelp, I called and asked if I could come in if there was availability. The lovely woman I spoke to told me she could possibly squeeze me in. We got there a few minutes before and I went in and looked at photos while Gulzar got situated. Gulzar is a sweet, calm and gentle woman. I really appreciated her professionalism, creativity and kindness. I noticed that when she spoke to customers on the phone or in person, she was very kind and accommodating. I love, love, love everything about this business and can't wait to return to try more services and to bring my daughters. Gulzar's work is amazing and she deserves 5 stars and more!! read more

I was visiting a friend in the Del Mar area and desperately needed to get my face threaded but was leaving for Palm Springs first thing the next morning. I called and the owner was so gracious to open the salon early the next morning for me so I could still leave for PS when I originally planned. Let me repeat that- she opened the salon early, for a customer she's never seen before. Talk about customer service!!! I'm a fan for life now!! I've had really horrible experiences with threaders in the past so I'm incredibly picky about who I let touch my brows. I've been going to Gulzar for almost 4 years now since I moved to Southern California and I wouldn't dream of going to someone else. Even when I lived 30+ minutes away I still made the trek because I love her work that much. Just to be specific about my raving about her let me tell you why I love Gulzar so much.. she always shapes my brows perfectly and to my natural brow line. She never takes to much off leaving me with 90's style stick brows (my worst nightmare). She's very gently, fast and thorough. I love her energy, always very warm and welcoming and I never have to worry about having to remind her what I want how how they look. She cleans them up perfectly every time no matter how bad I let them get between visits. read more

i have been here 3 times now when i didn't have time to go to my regular salon, Dolly's in Mira Mesa. Gulzar is sweet, will fit you in. But...she has a way of threading that is very uncomfortable. She plucks each hair so slowly, individually, which is maddening while you're trying to sit there still. At the other salon, the girls whip out the plucking in a few seconds, and leave me feeling less trauma. I like the close proximity, but overall, do not like the fact that there is only 1 person usually working (only Gulzar so far for me), the painful single plucking technique, and the fact that my eyebrows just don't look groomed as it does with Dolly's Salon. read more

I usually go to Super Brows in Grossmont Center, but was looking for a quick cleanup near work....surprisingly, this was the only threading service in the Del Mar area! With all the 5 star reviews, I thought it couldn't hurt to give them a try. I called for an appointment, and they were able to take me right away (1:30pm Wednesday). I got lucky with a parking spot right in front of the store (parking along Camino Del Mar can be tricky). I was in and out in 10-15 minutes. She (Sheri, I think - at least that's what the receipt says!) did an excellent job - very gentle - and she dabbed aloe on my brows to make sure my face was in tact before heading back to work :) She signed me up for the (free) rewards system, where they keep tracking of each dollar spent + you earn freebies. The eyebrow threading was $14 (Super Brows charges $10, but this is still cheaper than waxing!). Thank you for an awesome experience - will be back! read more

This is a local gem! I kickstated my vacation here with a little henna and tlc for my eyebrows. Gulzar is an amazing artist and delightful human being. She designed the most beautiful henna art for me and then designed my eyebrows perfectly, going above and beyond to make sure I had a shape that would work well for my face as well as recommending tenting -- wow what a wonder difference!! She assured me multiple times that "Yes, it is fine. Come into the salon anyway and the lash tech will be able to take you." My appointment was for 9:30am. Both the owner and the lash tech had all my contact information. The owner assured me that the lash tech would call or text me and reach out to me prior to my appointment with her availability so that we could arrange another time. The lash tech never called or texted. The salon had ample time to contact me to inform me that I would not be able be have my service done. Since the lash tech never followed up, I had to only have correspondence with the owner who was away on a trip to Vegas. I was on the phone with the owner as I was walking into the salon to confirm yet again that everything was good to go and that I would be able to have my lashes done. After hanging up with owner and upon entering the lash salon I was greeted very rudely by the lash tech who - instead of just politely asking to reschedule or letting me know the options she would be able to complete in the given time frame - immediately asks me "What's the reason you need your lash's done today?" "Is there a reason?" which was very off putting. I had prepaid already for my Full Volume Lash Set and since I'm visiting only for the weekend I had to order pick up & drop off to the salon. I told her I was visiting and wanted the volume set I had pre-purchased. She told me that she couldn't do anything about it. She kept repeating that she didn't have time and refused my service. The owner had given the lash tech all my contact info at 6am. If that was the case and she knew she couldn't fit me into her schedule she should of had the common courtesy of informing me herself before having me go out of my way to the salon after having to rearrange my schedule to accommodate her. The lash tech never offered to reschedule for another time for the weekend and never offered to refund my prepaid amount while I was in the salon. I had to call the owner yet again while she was away on her trip to have her do a refund, which was very unpleasant and unprofessional. Poor customer service.

The liners used for the pedi basin leaves you feeling secure in keeping health standards high. The pillows to put your arms for rest while getting a manicure or fill is nice to keep you comfortable. Very clean and well kept. My regular salon is about $40 less than here (even with tip). Just tried them out because it's close to where I live and I wanted to see if it would be worth the shorter drive. The nice thing is appt not needed and I was seen within minutes of walking in. Should I be in a last minute need, I'll likely come again.

It felt like we were in a private studio because it was just the 2 of us, which made me feel very safe during times like these. Everything was very clean and you could tell Yvonne has been in the nail industry for years because of experienced she was. She's also very thorough and cares about the work she does. I came in to get my eyebrows waxed, and while the appointment started off fine, things quickly took…read morea turn. When the technician applied the wax, it felt much hotter than usual. I figured it was just me being sensitive -- but later that day, I noticed a red burn mark forming right in the middle of my face. By the next morning, it had started to scab. I called the salon the next day to let them know what happened. They said they would inform the technician who worked on me, but honestly, they didn't seem very concerned about it. There was no apology, no offer to make it right -- just a casual acknowledgment and that was it. This was not the level of care or professionalism I expected. Accidents can happen, but the lack of empathy or accountability made the whole experience worse. I won't be returning.

My wife Andrea, stumbled upon this salon during the recent Taste of Del Mar food festival. I of course decided to simply tag along. Apparently these guys are relatively new in Del Mar. I really liked the store's decor and found their chairs especially comfortable as I waited for my better half to get her eyebrows "threaded." Had NO IDEA what threading was until I watched this young woman named Stephanie work her way around my wife's eyebrows and in no time gave her a pretty amazing set of perfectly sculpted brows. One has to see to believe the process! So after some prodding, I decided to throw in the towel and try and see what my bushy eyebrows would look like after this so-called "threading" process. I have to admit that they looked pretty neat...LOL! And the entire process was quite painless. All in all, a pretty satisfying experience for this neophyte to the art of "threading." The best part of our experience was that they offered both of us $9 off their $14 price if we only enrolled in their customer loyalty program. So of course, being no idiots, we immediately agreed to join and ended up paying just $5 each! I am not sure if I will want to get my eyebrows "sculpted" again but my wife loved the quality of their service and has already started referring her friends to the place. She is also excited by the fact that she can earn herself a free eyebrow threading treatment if she refers just 7 of her friends to try them out for only $5 each. Not sure how these folks expect to make any money by giving away their service for a mere 5 bucks, but for their sake, I hope they know what they are doing. FULL DISCLOSURE: The owners at Raanya requested that should we be happy with the service it would help their new business if we shared our experience with others on Yelp and in the process, earn an additional 10% discount on our next purchase. I came to Raanya with my girlfriend for the first time, I have never got my eyebrows done before and have to say I've never looked better. Gulzar is a great woman I see some other review here that absolutely does not fit her character what so ever. I came with my girlfriend with no plan to get any service done for myself but Gulzar convinced me otherwise to get my eyebrows done and she even gave me a very relaxing facial with steam and oils. Not only did she do a great job she didn't even charge me. I highly recommend coming here and if you are a guy skeptical of getting any services do it you won't regret it. Since I'm getting married in a few months I thought I would get my brows cleaned up a bit. I found this spot & it is great!! I've had my brows done once before in LA years ago. I love how I got a consulation before she started. She really looked at my face shape and how my brows grow naturally. I have pretty thin brows to start with and was looking for a little bit of shape and to even them out. I am definitely making Raanya eyebrow threading part of my beauty routine and throwing my tweezers out. Threading is great because they can get rid of your hair with accuracy and its painless!! This was my first time visiting Raanya with my boyfriend, and from the moment we walked in, Gulzar made us feel so warmly welcomed! My brows came out absolutely divine, soft, beautifully shaped, and exactly what I had hoped for. Even my boyfriend, who wasn't looking for a service at all, ended up getting a facial and left completely happy with the results. His skin looked so glowy and refreshed afterwards, and he felt genuinely taken care of. Gulzar has such a gentle touch and a way of making everyone feel comfortable and heard. I came here from out of town for a quick visit and I gave her a try based on the reviews and let me tell you she did not disappoint at all, Gulzar was so amazing! She took her time to educate me on my eyebrows and what she saw for a healthier grow. I loved the atmosphere very clean and welcoming. She just didn't seat you down her job and get her out. She will get to know you in the short time your there, and will make sure that your happy and educated on the service. She also filled them in for me and I loved that! Thank you so much!
