We absolutely love Dr Esmond! My 15 year old twins have been with Dr. Edmond since they were released from Huntington Hospital NICU. She was highly recommended by the physicians in the NICU Dept. I am a health professional and extremely cautious picking physicians. Dr. Esmond has been incredibly professional, compassionate, knowledgeable, correct in all her diagnosis, genuine, and sweet. Dr. Esmond is incredible. She came to the hospital the day our son was born for the first checkup and discovered an issue that required us to send him to the NICU. Without Dr. Edmond's help and expertise, he would have been delayed or worse. My wife's OBGYN suggested Dr. Esmond for us once our son was born and while I was a bit hesitant taking our child to a doctor I knew nothing about, I have repeatedly been proven wrong as Dr. Esmond is nothing short of the best. She's both knowledgeable and down to earth able to give us both medical and personal knowledge. There have been a few times we've had to call her after hours and both she & the other doctors in the office have been able to give us wonderful advice & help no matter what time of night we've called. We just always feel so welcomed when our son goes in for an appointment and Dr. Esmond is always so happy to see us and remembers little details about previous visits and just makes us feel so reassured that all is well. Dr. Esmond is honestly one of the best doctors I've ever met! We recently had our baby and she came in the hospital twice to see him twice. We've had so far our one and two week follow up and she has been incredible. Answering all out questions and I feel like she's a part-time counselor/family therapist. Not only does she care about the baby but the connection of the family and parents too. She's filled with great advice and has a wonderful chair side manner. Dr. Esmond is the absolute best pediatrician! She has gone out of her way to help me and my kids. She is at the top of her field and will not miss anything. She found a congenital cholesteatoma in my son's ear when he was 1. The ENT was so surprised she had been able to see it as they are difficult to find at such a young age. She also helped diagnose my son's Kawasaki disease at age 2. She has provided me so much support through these health scares and has always gone out of her way to help us. I could not be happier with Dr. Esmond. I would give her a 10 star review easily as she is that good. read more

Dr. Rachel L Esmond was recently assigned as PCM for my child with effective date, name, coverage and we got insurance card with her name on it. All existing web sites chows that they are accepting United Health Care. So when we tried to set up an appointment with Dr. Esmond the people at front desk informed us that Dr. are not excepting UHC even that it is on websites. She was confused why insurance company assigned us to them and why their billing office accepted UHC policy. Looks like they don't know what they are doing. I really can't say anything about Dr. Esmond. I got worst experience with that medical office. read more

I am disappointed with the lack of professionalism displayed by Dr. Esmond during my last visit to her office. Her choice words in a statement made to me was totally uncalled for that she immediately had to do damage control by apologizing for her use of words. A doctor with that kind of lack in self control sends the message that he/she needs to reassess the one-sided thinking that so often leads to misdiagnoses and failure to address the bigger problem of solving patients' problems. In this case, she was adamant that I research online a condition that turned out to be a nonissue because it had symptoms that never arose in the patient we were discussing. I am not bothered by her concern over a condition that never came up. What I am bothered by is the accusatory manner with which she addressed me for not going hog wild looking up a condition that had characteristic symptoms that never even presented itself. Doctors are there to suggest and help find solutions - they certainly are not the final say in diagnoses if one has the ability to read and think. Just because someone with a MD says you need to amputate your left arm doesn't mean you do. Unfortunately, for doctors such as Esmond, being right is more important than being reasonable. read more

In all my life and in all my days- I will never and have never seen or experienced a pediatrician better or even close to Dr. Rachel Esmond. She is truly an angel on this earth. I have been taking the kids to her for 10 years now and there has never been not even one moment of despair with her. She is always on top of everything, makes the kids feel so comfortable, and treats you like family. When my son was 5, she noticed something on his body and suggested I see an orthopedic specialist. I didn't take it seriously. She called a few days later to see if I made the appointment. She actually made me go to the specialist and my son ended up needing a surgery. It was serious and thanks only to her, we found out about this early enough. The day of the srugery, she actually came to the hospital before the surgery and brought him gifts. Every time there has been an emergency, she is there for my family and ready to give of herself to us. The other day I took my daughter in for a cold coupled with some chest pain. This was on a Friday. She actually called me on Sunday evening at home and then on my cell phone to ask me how my daughter was doing! She is the real deal and she is THE BEST. I have referred friends and family to her and they are all happy. She is the absolutely kindest, most wonderful, most loving and genuine pediatrician I know. Anyone who is lucky enough to become her patient has a true professional, experienced and knowledgeable saint on their side. Raising children is hard enough, we can only be so blessed to have someone help us like Dr. Esmond. read more

Horrible experience with staff! The front office receptionist is rude, miserable and shouldn't be working for a pediatricians office. I can't believe, They don't have a single nurse on hand to answer any medical questions. They lied to me over the phone when my kids had a severe rash after taking antibiotics. When I called to speak to a nurse the front office girl attempted to answer my question, when I asked to speak to a nurse she transferred me to a, "so called Nurse" when I asked her if she was a nurse she yes, and I asked whether she was an LVN or RN, she then proceeded to say that she's a medical assistant. Parents beware find out whom your speaking to over the phone. For a busy office, I don't see how a medical assistant is a qualified nurse to answer any medical questions without having the proper training working prior in a hospital environment or getting a license. I don't care they have had training in a pediatricians office, thats why they have licenses for a reason. On top of which the medical advice from a non licensed personals answer was, " why don't you continue to give the antibiotics, see what happens and call us in the morning." Really?!! After that, I got upset and told them I would like to leave a message for Dr. Esmond to call me back. The next day Dr. Esmond calls be back to tell me She had a medical emergency and couldn't call sooner, if that was the case her incompetent office should have informed me of that and had another physician call me back right away. After all that being said Dr. Esmond didn't bother resolving the issue. Simply apologized for the staff lying to me and didn't bother trying to resolve the issue. I will not be going back to this unprofessional and unorganized office. read more

Dr. Esmond is truly, no exaggeration, better than 5-star rating level. I am so, so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet her when I was looking for a pediatrician. First of all, she is as professional as a medical professional could be; her knowledge and experience are top notch, matched by her dedication and constant motivation to improve and go out of her way to provide the best possible care, always. Also, she is a person of ethics, and I just simply admire how communicative, honest and upfront she is. Dr. Esmond will take her time to talk to her patients parents, to discuss and treat each individual case and not just follow through with standard practices, she considers the person standing in front of her with questions and is incredibly empathic. I can see that she truly cares about each and every one of her patients, and her talents, professionalism and knowledge are matched by her kindness of heart and personality. This woman is an angel. My little Jellybean was born very small and had jaundice, and I could not believe the lengths this doctor went through to provide the absolute best care for my baby. And the care just keeps getting better. And the bonus is, the rest of the practice, the Pediatric Care Physicians, are a match to her qualities. Not only I heard it from other mums, I experienced it first hand once when Dr. Esmond was out of town and I saw Dr. Pollock. I love this practice. They set the example in medical care. read more

I can not imagine anyone ever having anything bad to say about Dr. Esmond and her staff. They are the rare breed of Dr's and staff who actually care about the patient these days. I have been with them for years, referred everyone I know and nobody has ever had a problem. Dr Esmond and her office staff have been the best Pediatrician office I can ever wish for. My kids have seen Dr. Esmond for over 13 years. I have never had such consistent, amazing experience with any other doctor. Dr. Esmond has always showed care, and compassion no matter how little or big the issue has been. Dr. Esmond has been my 2 teen boys' pediatrician since they were born. It's not necessarily easy getting your 18 year old son to the doctor, but she is masterful at putting them both at ease and making them feel respected and comfortable. She is an amazing listener and always spends a considerable amount of time with us even during our routine appointments. We never feel rushed or like just another patient. When my son had a significant health issue a few years back and we checked him into the hospital, she was relentless in trying to figure out what was causing his issues. None of the doctors on staff at the hospital had a clue, but Dr. Esmond got to the bottom of it and found us a specialist at CHLA who knew about this unique autoimmune disease. I also really appreciate how she always follows up with us to check in if one of the kids is sick. I highly recommend her.
