I've been wanting to get back into walking for exercise and knew I needed something FAR more supportive than my adored Skechers Step-Ins. After some consultation with ChatGPT about what my current physical issues are and a brick and mortar store I could shop at, I was given a list of specific brands and styles: Brooks Ariel GTS, Hoka Gaviota, and ASICS Gel-Kayano. The icing on the cake was being referred to Wild Pear Running, where each of the models were in stock. Almost from the second I stepped in the door, I felt like family. I was greeted by Renee and after a quick size check, she brought out an enormous stack of boxes of shoes to test-drive. She checked the fit, how my toe felt in the toe box, and had me walk around a bit to see how they moved. After a brief size correction, we had it narrowed down to two models. One was a Brooks model, and the other was the Hoka Gaviota 6. I'd already decided that price would not be a factor, as I was more than willing to pay more for the best quality shoe I could get. At this point, her mini-me/daughter (please forgive me but I've forgotten her name) had joined us and we discussed adding Lock Laces so they would be easier to get on and off without having to lace up every time. She helped me pick out the best colour once I'd decided upon the Hoka model and put in the Lock Laces for me. I've done a fair amount of walking since last Saturday (including 45 minutes of physical therapy during my usual weekly visit). I can't even describe how amazing these shoes feel and how much my feet and ankles DON'T hurt after walking around for a while. Before physical therapy, I couldn't be on my feet for more than about 15 minutes without my lower back, ankles, and feet starting to hurt. Not anymore. I never thought I'd be able to say that a shoe was a life-changer but that's really what this whole experience has been. I highly recommend Wild Pear Running, no matter WHAT your goal is. You will receive the absolute best in customer service there, get incredible value for your purchase, and if you didn't feel like family when you walked in, you will by the time you leave. P.S. I understand each business that opens during The Coronavirus has certain rules they must follow but DSW by FAR has the strictest, most unusual social distancing of any store I have been in. There were arrows tapped to the floor and you could only go ONE WAY down the rows. Also, there was only ONE CUSTOMER allowed per aisle. AND no trying on shoes in the aisles. I came in just to check out the clearance rack for a pair of shoes for my husband. Just getting to the back was hectic and a bit stressful. Then I went to check out some clearance shoes for myself and OOOPS! I went the wrong way down a ONE WAY aisle. (Luckily I didn't get busted!) Some positives were that there were very few customers in the store and that the staff were friendly. I did end up finding my husband a pair of sneakers on clearance! I'll have to come back once the virus is over. It wasn't an enjoyable shopping experience with all the precautions this store is taking.

It seems small compared to other Nordstrom Racks I've been to. However they have a decent variety of things, women's coats and jackets, active wear, pants, tops/blouses, intimate apparel. After some perusing, I found what I had came for. The quality of the outfit didn't look as good as it did online. Nonetheless I grabbed it and a couple other blouses and tried everything on in the fitting room. They had an attendant at the fitting room who was helpful and it was easy to get in and out of the dressing room. The checkout process was fairly quick and when asked the cashier let me know what their return policy was. I had until January (it was earlier this week when I purchased my items, so early November), with the receipt, all tags, and the items obviously never worn. I'm not sure if this is their usual return window or a special one for the holidays but its more than enough time to return something if you need to and I did so this was helpful. When I returned my items a couple hours later, after finding something that better fit my needs, the return process was a breeze and they refunded my money back to my original form of payment.

While browsing in the kids' section, I noticed a woman, who later identified herself as the manager, following me around the store. After I moved to the back, she sat down and continued watching me for about 10 minutes while I shopped. I eventually approached her and asked if she was following or watching me. She said no. I then asked if she was the manager, and she confirmed that she was. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it and told me I didn't need to know. As a Black college graduate, an English teacher, and a mother of three, I found this experience extremely upsetting and disrespectful. I was treated as if I were doing something wrong when I was simply shopping for my family. No customer should feel singled out or profiled in this way. I completed my purchase and left, but the entire situation left a lasting negative impression. I hope this location takes this seriously and addresses how customers are treated moving forward.
