I love this place. Reasonable prices, bomb haircuts. I went in today, and saw a different barber than usual, but it's the best haircut I've had in my whole life. Katie is an awesome barber And this place is cool. But not like, cool in a way that makes you feel like you aren't cool enough to be there, like some barber shops I've been to. It's cool in a laid back kind of way. You want to talk, and the barbers are all dope ass people. You don't want to talk, then you don't have to worry about some cheesy ass small talk, because everyone is just awesome. If you're looking for a good barber in a chill environment, this is the place. Cool spot with very nice people, but I asked for a beard trim and let the barber know I was wanting to grow it out and wanted them to err on the side of removing less hair. I've been to Rad a few times over the years and it had been a few weeks since I had a haircut. My hair has been getting weirdly long in areas and I've been wearing a hat to hide a lot of it. Today I had my hair cut by someone new; Patrick. He asked me several questions to really identify what I thought I wanted, which really can be a challenge because I don't normally know, I really just wanted to grow it all out. After it was cut and looking in the mirror, it was a real relief. It looked great! Really great! It's actually the way I've always wanted it cut but never knew how to explain it! I'm very happy! They were booked for the day, but offered to set an appointment for tomorrow. That's when Katie stepped in. Said she could fit in a hair cut. Great hair cut. RAD and Katie are now my go-to choice. We love this funky little Barber shop. The Barbers are chatty & friendly and they do a great job. A couple things I love: their online reservation system -- super user friendly! Jon is crazy fast & soooo good! We have been getting my son's haircut for years & it always took 30+ minutes. Jon takes 10-15mins tops! So glad I found this place! Everyone working is always very nice from the moment you get there until the moment you leave. They're full of information and more importantly, experience! You're offered something to drink as soon as you get checked in and sometimes they'll have donuts for you as well. They take there time on giving you a proper haircut and they will even give you a proper shave. It's a fun yet relaxing environment. They can be very conversational but if that's not your thing then they can be quiet, whatever peels your banana. I highly recommend this barber shop. read more

I actually started going to Carmyn before there was a Carmyn's... Yes it's true, she was at another barber shop before breaking out on her own in 2010, and now I would follow her anywhere she may go. I never really would have said i was particular with my hair, i'm a guy, i really didn't care. I've always hated haircuts and will never understand why women love to spend hours getting their hair done. What i can say is I'm so thankful for Carmyn's ability and her personality, really, she's fantastic in both categories. So here is my story on why i won't let anyone else cut my hair (or at least no one from another barber shop, pending emergencies): I found Carmyn because I REALLY needed a hair cut and i had a date that i needed to get ready for, a larger chain said on its door it was going to open at noon so i left did somethings for myself and returned to find the door still locked, I was pissed that my 15 min hair cut had turned into an hour and half ordeal and the lights of the shop hadn't even turned on yet and i haven't seen one pair of scissors. For the two years prior to this i had driven by a barber shop even closer than the chain.. I even passed it three times that day, waiting for the chain to open. Pretty much because i had a coupon (or some other 'good' reason i can't think of). Since i work mostly with small business I said to myself, "Self, why on earth would you not help a local small business?" Not being able to find a decent excuse, off i was to my local barber.. Carmyn, all alone and waiting for a customer could tell i was having a bad day, so she offered me a beer! :-) I accepted and told her to do whatever she'd like to my hair (i've never told her how to cut my hair actually) and she went to work. Not only was it easily the best my hair has ever looked, but chatting with Carmyn and sharing stories while she took her time to make sure i looked my best was amazing. I decided at that point, i've found my barber! Since that day Carmyn left the shop around the corner, and i still happily drive a little farther to give her my business. She's a wonderful person and she is very skilled at what she does. Frankly, i like her barber shop FAR better than the one where i met her! Traveled from California to St. Louis and was looking for a good barber shop. Carmyn's was the place. I was not familiar with the area and relied up reviews by other customers. I lucked out. I was visiting the area from Southern California and was in need of a haircut. I went to RAD Barber Shop and was glad I did. I showed Retna, (I think that was her name ... sorry I forgot your name) a picture of the type of haircut I wanted and she matched it up perfectly. The place has a cool vibe too. I do travel here a lot on business and I will for sure come back for another haircut. Ask for the girl whose name starts with an "R" ... which may or not be Retna.
