I heard about this Radiant Music Studio from a friend, whose daughter has been learning piano there for years. Following her recommendation, my son has been studying piano in Radiant for longer than half year now and we are happy that we made this choice. Radiant has a team of qualified piano teachers. I've been a student of Regina's for roughly a year and a half and I am loving every minute of it. I would describe my music knowledge and ability as an average adult who not only wants to read and play songs but would also like to understand the theory behind it. Regina has a vast knowledge of music and it is my goal, as a student, to ask a ton of questions. Sometimes I believe I have tough question but she never lets me down in answering them. She helps me to think differently as well as understand why the composer did it a certain way. We always go over music theory, in some form, every lesson from chord structure, circle of fifths, and did I mention Hanon?! Every lesson is challenging but she somehow makes it easy to understand. Sight reading and understanding the notes is one thing but Regina has helped me to understand and express my feelings through the song I am playing. I have played stringed instruments before such as ukulele and guitar and expressing my feelings was one thing I could not do well. This is something that I will always work on but Regina has helped me to implement voicing and the idea of painting a picture for every song has helped dramatically. There are so many great qualities about Regina that make her a superb teacher. I am so thankful that I have her as my teacher because she makes every lesson fun, challenging, and worthwhile. With every lesson she is packed with energy and just eager for her students to learn as much as they can with all the help they can get. She is extremely patient when it came to a slow learner like me, especially in helping me reviving my left hand bass chords while playing on her radiantly tuned Steinway mahogany piano that made even the most incoherent offbeat piano strikes portray some sort of easy flowing rhythm. When it came to the pricing, extra reasonable without a doubt. I needed extra lessons to work on my left chords so I definitely took advantage of the deals displayed on the front page. Her studio appointment times are also excellent since they fit into my variable schedule with ease. Furthermore, with every lesson taken through her studio, I am always left with the impact on how Regina goes the extra mile to see if everything learned throughout the previous lesson sticks in my head and so far so good, I feel like I have dug myself into an an upper level university piano course considering the workload but definitely worth it with the results I have been seeing. My little boy began music lessons singing with an opera singer and then moved into piano with this being the 4th teacher I have tried. I will start off by saying that I didn't have a life long dream to play the piano. It's always something I had some interest in but as I got older it seemed less important. I'm not near my midlife crisis (Yet) but I'm no spring chicken either. From experience it's always been easier to learn music and new languages as a child. With my constant focus towards work and paying my bills, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to play though I decided I give it a try. It was more of a chance encounter that I met Regina. It was at work and she happened to mention her profession. I think we've been brainwashed into seeing teachers and instructors as older individuals. While she's still young, you sense an intensity immediately after meeting her. I don't know how she is during her free time but when you're there in the lesson, she's all business. I'm only a few lessons in so far I've learned how disciplined one needs to be to do this. I'm know this discipline will help other aspects of my life. Just like everything else, it takes practice. She expects you to practice the lessons and there's homework as well. It's a long road but I know it'll be worth it. My goal was to find someone to teach the language of music to my daughter, balancing fun and discipline. Opposite the mundane and dreaded piano lessons i experienced in my own youth... I have to say I am thoroughly pleased to have found this instructor. Here are my impressions: The South Pasadena studio is tidy, bright, and professional in appearance. The layout is simple- a couch for the parent and a grand piano as the focal point. And sufficient open space, free of distractions and clutter. There is a second instructor Ms Andrea who has covered during schedule changes, whom i thought was also very good. Ms Regina is my daughter's main teacher. She is organized and serious about her craft. She is formally educated in music and it shows in the instructions she relays to her students. From our first meeting, she provided guidelines for success, and expectations for attendance and practice. No-nonsense. Don't let her youthful appearance mislead you, if you are not committed your may want a different teacher. You cannot miss classes. Her approach is firm, but also patient, which has been good for motivating my 5 year old, who's mind tends to wander. Kind of like her dad. My favorite thing is she regularly organizes recitals, one of which recently took place at the South Pas library. It gave the kids an opportunity to showcase what they learned in front of an audience. Ms Regina accompanied the nervous little ones and some of her pupils are scary good. It was a nice, fun event for the kids and parents. A great confidence builder. Business communications about scheduling and payment are handled professionally. Fees are fair. My daughter was accepted to the school, we paid all these fees up front and then 6 weeks later she dismissed us from the school-no reason. We also lost our registration fees. My daughter was devastated. I got the impression early on that she was all business and only wanted kids that would hyper focus on piano. The amount of self study and practice for a 9 year old was not realistic. Additionally, she expected that I would be teaching my daughter part of her lessons. My daughter wanted to learn to play piano not become Chopin. I also felt her bedside manner was superficial and cold with children. My daughter has gone on to excel with a caring teacher. Our experience at Radiant Music Studio has been so wonderful!! My two girls (8 & 9) have been learning at RMS for almost 3 years now, and I am very satisfied with how much they have progressed, and the confidence they have built over the years. My 9-year-old used to get easily frustrated when playing the wrong notes, and now she knows to take her time to correct herself and just keep on practicing and knowing that it is okay to make mistakes. Their instructor Mr. Taylor not only is very professional, but he also makes the lessons fun for my girls. When I go pick them up, I often see them walking out of the class all laughing and having a great time, and that to me is important!! The studio facilities are very nice and clean, and I also appreciate the many safety/precautionary measures taken due to covid. The staff and teachers are super friendly and helpful, and they do give prompt replies if you ever have questions. The studio offers Flex Week for the students, which enables them to do make-up lessons during that week, and I've found it very helpful. They also encourage students to practice piano at home by keeping track of the number of their practices (the parents are asked to give the number of practices), which can be exchanged for raffle tickets, and they draw raffles monthly to announce the lucky winner. Honestly, I can't think of anything that I am unsatisfied with the studio, and I am just so glad that I sent my kids to the right place to initiate a lifelong love and appreciation of learning music! read more

I finally got a chance to hear Regina play on my Young Chang baby grand during a tutorial she gave to my children. My 17 year old son, already an accomplished singer and musician, took to Regina's teaching style very easily. She was patient, yet diligent with him as she guided him through classical expression and expansion of his piano skills. I thought she met her match with my "rock star" 10 year old son who has little interest in the piano as he would rather act and sing. I was pleasantly surprised at his patience and her patience as I watched them maneuver through basic piano skills. Regina has a quality and temperament that I would recommend to anyone looking for a high level piano instructor. Now for the other side of Regina. . . I am a bit of a piano player myself and can make my baby grand speak some dulcet tones. I need to update my review which is past due long time ago. We had to move to our new home last year and therefore we cannot go to this piano class location anymore because of the distance. Unfortunately, the way Regina treated us was very different after we told her that we cannot continue here anymore. My son is supposed to receive his award medal that was promised for his achievement but he never received it. She promised to send it to us but never got delivered. All my emails and calls were not answered nor replied. There was one time I managed to get a live person answered the office phone and she told me that they do have my son's award in front of her and promised that she will deliver it that week. Again, it never arrived. It's already a year now and we never received it yet. I believe my son earned that medal and he was expecting so much to see his first award as a 6 years old kid. I guess he will never see that anymore. It's difficult as a parent to explain to a 6 yrs old kid why his teacher didn't keep her promise to him even after all his hard work. So there you go, I wish I don't have a to write a bad review for a business since I wrote a good review in the beginning. But I think people need to know what they will deal with after their kids no longer enrolled at Regina's class. read more
