He gave us a tour of the facilities the day before the shoot and we got to see all that Fairfax Public Access has to offer. There is a large empty studio that we used complete with a huge green-screen wall or choice of black, navy or tan curtain (I think those were the colors). They also have a set that has a full kitchen--just like when you think of Food Network shows like Rachel Ray. I personally don't know all the terminology for all the stuff in there but we were all very impressed by everything. I felt that the cost for renting the studio to non-members was quite reasonable but I have no basis for comparison. We also brought in our own lighting and cameras but were able to use the studio lights with some assistance. Jerry let us know that members who take certain classes to train on the equipment are able to use the studios and everything free of charge (the membership costs $26 according to the site and you have to pay for the classes). Definitely look into this place as an option for studio rentals among other things.

I enjoy all of the jazz, blues, Cajun, American Songbook, rhythm and blues, oldies, and world music-- with the occasional classical tune added. And WPFW FM has actual air personalities who take calls and provide the history of the artists and songs. Programming is very diverse--hooray! This is the only station on which I heard a DJ explain one of the Jewish holidays, for example.

Kane, (as he wants to be called) Sami (who I actually met) Sarah made things hilariously funny. There were times I had tears in my eyes. Hearing Kane scream SAMI, was great. Memories of Kane getting in trouble two or three times and almost being sent home. The infamous female intern taking a shit and putting her goods in the microwave. (I only heard the update about it. Would love to know what year, date and day this happened) The segment where women enjoy sticking their fingers down man's coin slot(s) (AKA buttcrack) to make them jump. My personal favorite was the birth of War of The Rose's (now called Roses)and Old Farts Hitting The Breaks. Finally, there was the celebrity who will remain nameless who was supposed to show up to the show and didn't,...was funny. The aftermath made it even funnier. I remember listening to this show as much as I could. However, I haven't been listening to the station as much as I use to. Was why? The music gone from bad, to horrible to hell no...now it's at the level of...turn that shit off. Also work just got in the way. I like intern John. His rise to stardom has been great to listen to. So has Eric's. I believe he replaced Scangela. I wonder what would have happened if Scangela had stayed with the Kane Show? Anyhow, I truly feel Hot 99.5 needs to mix up the music. 90's music would be great. Why you ask? Because back then people actually sang. This autotune thing annoys the hell outta me. For fans, be aware that Don Geronimo is back on the air in Sacramento (available via various online streaming methods on phones as well as web). Mike O'Meara and the rest of the original Don & Mike Show have a very successful 1 hour daily podcast (plus extra bonus shows) now featuring Oscar Santana. And Big O & Dukes (Dukes, Oscar and their various cohorts) also have a very successful weekly podcast. Donni G, MoM and BOAD are all in great form, hit Google and you'll find them.
