Kane, (as he wants to be called) Sami (who I actually met) Sarah made things hilariously funny. There were times I had tears in my eyes. Hearing Kane scream SAMI, was great. Memories of Kane getting in trouble two or three times and almost being sent home. The infamous female intern taking a shit and putting her goods in the microwave. (I only heard the update about it. Would love to know what year, date and day this happened) The segment where women enjoy sticking their fingers down man's coin slot(s) (AKA buttcrack) to make them jump. My personal favorite was the birth of War of The Rose's (now called Roses)and Old Farts Hitting The Breaks. Finally, there was the celebrity who will remain nameless who was supposed to show up to the show and didn't,...was funny. The aftermath made it even funnier. I remember listening to this show as much as I could. However, I haven't been listening to the station as much as I use to. Was why? The music gone from bad, to horrible to hell no...now it's at the level of...turn that shit off. Also work just got in the way. I like intern John. His rise to stardom has been great to listen to. So has Eric's. I believe he replaced Scangela. I wonder what would have happened if Scangela had stayed with the Kane Show? Anyhow, I truly feel Hot 99.5 needs to mix up the music. 90's music would be great. Why you ask? Because back then people actually sang. This autotune thing annoys the hell outta me. Rapping with marbles in your mouth seems to be a popular thing, but it is not for me. Maybe I'm just becoming an old fart. I listen to the Kane Show because Kane's crew are just as funny as the originals, but I can't listen to the crappy music for to long anymore.

Terrible listening to the morning show, obvious Fred's not local and THAT made the show good…read more Hearing local happenings etc. it sounds so scripted, not funny, sounds like someone's playing a bad track! Bring in the locals not just Rose, she was better interacting with people by her side!

8/17/21 Since the…read morebeginning of Hot 99.5's Kane Show, I been a listener for a long time. I listened to its beginnings,  middle and end when Kane was kicked off the show. Even when he passed away this year. However,  I was turned off by hearing the same annoying songs again and again.  I slowly started looking for other talk shows. Last week I came across DC101'S Elliott In The Morning.  I found myself enjoying his shows and even covering topic that would seem taboo for Hot 99.5. Today I heard a conversation about a guy losing $1,300.00  from his bank, because of an error. It took a long time to get his money back. I could envision the annoyance... I also heard about hoarders segment. I happened to turn on the radio just in time to hear about someone taking a dump on their bathtub.  The stuff was pretty high.  Clean out the house is something I couldn't imagine cleaning out. Now I am listening to the segment about roadway debris.  Crazy, but very entertaining the way Elliot explains it. I also enjoying hearing the caller's take on the situation. The one thing I don't like are the radio commercials. USAA,  Geico's army guy ad and other who's name I can't remember. They have an annoying whiny song and sing "isn't time to get along" or something like that.   I have heard this on many stations and I don't see it going away any time soon.  Nevertheless,  Elliott In The Morning is a breath of fresh air when it comes to Hot 99.5. I look forward to hearing what else he might say.

Remember college radio?…read more WOWD is like that, but for old people and in some cases, kids. This is a new public station that has opened up under the newly created "low power" classification by the FCC, which I will explain later, so for now I'll just stick to the description of the station. 94.3 FM is a smorgasbord of musical styles and genres from every corner of the globe and what WOWD is greatest strength, is also its greatest default. Although there does seem to be some assemblance of a schedule starting to form, each time you click on the radio dial, you have no idea what will be playing; whether it's Coleman Hawkins, a concerto, some Mongolian throat signing, A Tribe Called Quest, Fugazi, Blind Willie McTell, a Mexican ranchera ballad, Indian Tagore songs, Peter Tosh, a Ukrainian folk song, Aerosmith, to some guy who recorded a bunch of stuff that he kept throwing down the stairs, and so on. The variety on WOWD in unparalleled in the area. There is something for everyone and something for everyone to hate. Of course, with it being a public, community radio station, you are going to have panel/discussion shows which serve almost no one or anything other than to break up the crazy, free flowing music stream. Anyway, as for the explanation of the whole low power meaning, here you are (thank you copy/paste function): LP is Low Power FM radio, which is regular FM radio with a less powerful signal. LPFM operates at 100 watts or less and reaches two to five miles. Nationally, there are over 2000 LPFMs are licensed. Historic Takoma applied in 2013, in the first LPFM "give-away" in the DC area. In other words, unless you are are in 10 mile radius of the station, there is very little chance that you'll be able to pick up its signal. Don't worry though - you can still find them on the internet. Give 'em a listen. I am certain that you'll find something that catches your ear. And something that will make you wince. But that's what makes life worth living. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
