My friend and I went to a wedding up in Derbyshire last weekend...the hotel we wanted to stay in was all booked up, so we ended up here as a cheap alternative. It was £36 for a family room...so worked out as £12 each (or could have been £9 if we had a fourth person) The rooms were clean, but had only minimal facilities. Meh- it was fine for sleeping after wedding drinks!! Downstairs was a Burger King, M&S, WHSmiths, Costa and a canteen that had cooked breakfasts for £3.99 for Travelodge guests. There was also a lovely nature reserve (with benches) looking out to pretty Derbyshire Countryside...which was a lovely place to take breakfast. ...although you still hear the hummmm of the M1 motorway while you eat/sleep.

We stayed here once the night before an early-morning flight from East Midlands Airport…read more The hotel form a part of the big services building between the M1 and the airport. It is located too far to walk to the airport, and a taxi cost us £7. The room was absolutely fine: clean, comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, bathroom Absolutely ideal for an overnight stay, even if lacking the charm and character of a hotel which you might prefer for a longer stay. In the services area are the usual eating establishments, and a Marks & Spencer food shop, where you can buy a wide range of sandwiches and drinks. There are 80 car parking spaces for the Travelodge, which are free of charge if you are staying overnight. I paid £19 for the room, so this makes it ideal for those who need a night's sleep before morning flights.

The hotel and rooms are really nice. The staff at the front desk let us check into the rooms earlier than stated which we really appreciated. The facilities are nice and had everything that I would personally want: pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, lots of room for lounging. Also plenty of showers dotted around. For a treatment I chose a 30 minute back neck & shoulder massage because really why would I choose anything else? The masseuse was friendly and professional and the massage was really good. She asked if I had any problem areas and I mentioned that my shoulder had been causing me pain, honestly I can't say she paid any particular attention to that shoulder and it still hurt, though in her defence it wasn't a sports/physiotherapy massage so I can't complain. The evening meal was really very good. Instead of a price limit which some hotels impose, we had a choice of any starter and any main from the menu - with the exception of possibly one of the steaks? I can't really remember but it wasn't unreasonable. I went for the ribs, which aren't something I would usually order but had been advertised as the restaurant's speciality so I felt I had to. They were really good. For my main course I had lamb which was cooked to perfection, really delicious. Breakfast was pretty good. Partly buffet style although the tea and coffee was made fresh and the eggs were cooked for you. I'd definitely recommend this place for a spa break.

Freebie toiletries are Elemis which is a fab brand Free WiFi It's clean -ve I found the gym a little too small. As it's open to members of the public as well as hotel residents it was a bit crowded and difficult to get to the equipment you want Right near the airport but you'll be alright if you bring earplugs. If you're quite tuned in to noise like that though it might be annoying.
